Judy, while she seems very dominant personality-wise, would use bondage and sex as more of an escape to turn "off" and give herself wholly over to Nick. It's a break from being "on" all the time and constantly trying to meet expectations. With this, there's no expectations. He'll use her how he will.

Honestly, he has a LOT more to lose then she does. She may try several times but, she's still achieving what she sought to do ever since she was a child. It would hurt, yes, but she would be able to move on from it.
Nick on the other hand, Judy is really one of his only true 'friends'. She is the person that brought him out from the gutter and made him a changed man, he naturally has feelings for her. Even if he played it off cool, he would still be hurt inside from being shot down, probably awkwardly admitting his feelings to her.

A lot of what they believe is based around an original sin concept, only in this case, the sin of stealing wisdom and speech from Astoroth.
The Sons of Frith - a rural religion that mostly exists in the tri-burrows; primarily among rabbit farmers. It's closer to a druid/pagan religion.

Nick had his own reasons for being a cop, though.
For the first half he did plenty of butting heads with Judy, which is hardly submissive. He had to comply thanks to the carrot pen. Once they started getting along, it was more of a collaborative effort, but he let her lead because she's the cop. It's her case.
Nick is plenty resourceful, intelligent, and driven on his own. He probably would want to lead to protect Judy in dangerous situations. When it comes to taking credit, he probably tries to push more of the limelight on Judy, since he knows how much being the best means to her.

In a way I agree? I think of them as the Sun and the Moon rather than dominant and submissive. Nick as the Moon can still take charge just as much as Judy, but makes more decisions with her in mind, rather than himself. This isn't to say that Judy is selfish, just more grounded in her own ways.

Judy is the first person that Nick ever let get close to him, and after she declines his approaches he slowly starts to become more reclusive, slacking in his work before eventually he stops showing up to work all together. Judy's confusion as to Nick's recent behavior makes her curious and she decides to find Nick after not going into work 2 days in a row, only to find out Nick accidentally killed himself with the alcohol he tried using to cope with the heart ache.

Also I think relationships is completely different. Nick seems mkre experienced than Judy with them. Despite being driven Judy is still incredibly naive. Nick however is cool and confident, armed with a silver tongue. I feel like he could lead a relationship much more naturally.
