Writing can be a real rough hobby, especially when it takes so much time, effort, and passion to make something you care about and you feel like its not being appreciated.
I don't want to say that the answer is just to keep a stiff upper lip, because that doesn't address the problem.
So I'll put forth a solution: why don't we start a writer's workshop for these threads?
Last night I got drunk and wanted to read some fanfics, and I did a reading of two works by anons. Gave them comments and criticism, offered suggestions and corrections, stuff I'd like to get if I posted.
So why don't we all start doing that? Giving comments and doing readings helps us all become better writers anyway, AND it'd give us an outlet both to feel appreciated and give appreciation!

I'm an atheist, I don't believe in fate, yadda yadda yadda, but every morning and night I go for a walk and take account of myself. I think about what I want, I consider my actions, reflect on where I am in life. I even keep a notebook with me to write things down that come to mind.

I've been there too. What I did was just give myself time to get better. Depression is as much an illness as any physical malady, and it is something you can get better from, like any illness. If you have the resources to do so, try and find a therapist, or at the very least a friend maybe that you could talk to. If you don't feel comfortable doing either of those things, for now just focus on getting through the day by day. Watch shows you like, read comics, etc. Try and find even one reason to get you to continue going on, even if it's just "I wanna see the latest shitposts on /trash/".
That's how I'm in a better place, personally.

Thanks, but it wasn't a matter of apology. We'd already made up. Not only did she apologize, but she realized she loved me, and she picked me over her parents in the hardest decision she's probably ever had to make. And then she stuck to that decision for a couple hundred miles of aching feet and starvation.
