It's pretty weird trying to define pred-prey stuff because it's not something that has a 1:1 analog in our own world
Like a lot of fetishes, it means different things to different people:
One couple might have a very lighthearted, almost cartoon-plot for their session, in which a predator is outsmarted by its prey and 'defeated' with some mutually enjoyable fucking.

It could be about budding love between curious and unfamiliar partners that never went beyond their species, about power or punishment, violence or passion, surrender or control, primal instincts or forbidden lust, and tender or brutal. It could be set to a prehistoric setting, before the founding of the societies we know, in a wilder time, or it could be about modern taboo. It could be about trimming claws or baring them.
Pred-prey is a common fetish, and a broad one. It means many things to many animals.
The only constant is the species -- and even then, I bet there are a lot of rabbit husbands who enjoy roleplaying as a big, strong fox for their cotton-tailed wives, or towering tiger boyfriends who mewl before their denmates, pretending to be a hapless deer.
