They're kinda funny.
Cartoon isn't bad, but it's not particularly good either. I can see why people like it, but the only reason it's being hailed as "best cartoon in the past 10 years" is because nobody was expecting it to be good.
Fans are literally cancer due to claiming that they're "progressive" for liking a little girls' cartoon, and have this beastly desire to create pony versions of literally everything.

I used to make fun of the people who did crossovers, and then unfortunately I became one, pretty autistically too. I did crossovers for mkx and cod.

Well, I loved the show during the first season. Had a lot of fun on the first threads on /co/. Became a big contributor to the early fanbase and attracted something of a following. It was the first time I was involved in a fandom like that, and I didn't know it could involve so much interest and interaction.
Second season rolled around, it was clear some of the creative talent had left and I was starting to lose interest. Community interaction was still high and I was still doing a lot of fanwork. I was ignoring all the gay shit on /b/. Spending less and less time on the /co/ threads. I was developing a distaste for the fandom at large, though by then I had might quite a few people, and was lucky enough to be in a little clique with some amazingly skilled artists. Made some connections, made some friends.
By halfway through the third season I was thinking either the show had completely gone to shit or I had just lost interest. I was starting to actively hate the fandom. This was about the time "pinkiepony" or whatever her name was was getting active, getting artists shut down. People were taunting the family of some kid who attempted suicide. Edgelords were gang up on artists and attacking them for no other reason than they were huge betas and they were an easy target. Shitty vibes, from all around, on all sides. And there was this weird sense of entitlement. Even the people who weren't the huge autistic drama queens could be big assholes. I remember drawing this one request and this person bitches because they didn't think the color of the labia was the right shade of teal. I was still making fanwork. Had a big list of things I wanted to do. Went on a summer vacation for two weeks, came back, and I decided it had all stopped being any fun, and I completely quit. Cold turkey. It was the correct decision. I was way too involved.
I miss my friends though.

I remember 5 years ago i started watching it cause there were other people who watched it in my corner of the internet and i wanted to belong, or something like that.
We would stream the episodes and watch em together, but after like a year we all moved on from it and just hung around in a skype chat playing games, so being a fan for a breif time worked well for me.
Infact that's why i think most people become bronies, cause they're losers and saying they like something on the internet means they can pretend to have friends.

I used to watch earlier generation cartoons with my sister about 25 years ago. I hold no ill will towards the show itself. But I really dislike the fans and/or non-fans using it as a pretext to troll.

I'm a fan, and pretty much all the fans I've dealt with are great people. Admittedly, the Finnish pony fandom seems to be quite unique, and we're still having pussikaljamiitti's (literally translated: bag-beer meet-up) every second weekend.
For those who haven't seen it, I recommend watching Season 5. That was by far the best season this far.

I am a fan and have been since episode one, season one. I was present when many of the ideas of characters and stories that are now considered canon and absolute were being made. I remember when Derpy Hooves was first discovered and her character worked out as well as Vinyl Scratch and Octavia. I was on the front line for most of that.
Until the second season.
By that time, the fandom exploded and I no longer was in the first car of that roller coaster. Somehow, I had fallen off and I have never truly been able to get back to where I was before. Due to where I live, fans keep to themselves. Which can either be looked at as a blessing or as a curse. For me, it's a curse. It means I cannot connect to any other fans in real life. I'm not autistic nor do I have any social anxiety, but I felt if I met fellow fans, I might hit off some awesome friendships. But alas, I have yet to meet any fans in my day-to-day life.
Online fans, I meet them all around. But what I have noticed is that in certain areas of the fandom, the people are very closed off. They claim to be inclusive and accept all, love and tolerance, all that jazz. But I have been to some of those places and if you say even the wrong thing, those fuckers turn on you like flies to a corpse. They all have their place in the fandom and for me, someone who lose their place many years ago, They almost look down on me. I tried to reason with them, but I just gave up a few months ago. What friends I had there, I am sorry, I'm not going back. I can't do it. I can't deal with the rigors of it. Say one thing to the wrong person and prepare to get attacked ruthlessly. And God help you if you upset or even insult one of the many trannys there. People will basically try to hack your PC in an attempt to destroy it for daring to make the tranny's feeling hurt for a moment. People wishing for your death and in the next breath telling someone else they welcome anyone there. The fucking hypocrisy was unreal.

I still frequent /mlp/ as they seem to be as close to the original fanbase as you can find. I don't go there daily, but every once in a while I make my way there. People still make me laugh and every once in a while, people still make me think and feel grateful.
I don't shove my fandom into other people's faces. If they inquire, I'm not shy about it. Otherwise, I'm just a regular Joe. But I am still a fan and will be so for the forseeable future. I may not attend the conventions (none near me) and I may not meet fans in my daily life, but I still consider myself a fan. I still get some of the merchandise, I still collect the comics, and I still yearn for a life size pony plush I can cuddle with. It's my life and I'm pleased with it as it is. It's not perfect, but no one's life truly is.

The show I still find enjoyable and proved a much bigger staying power than Adventure Time (The whole comet arc had such a disappointing resolution) or Regular Show (Characters stopped being humorously flawed).
Ponies' personality is still preserved but I feel that the writing nowadays is hit and miss. I do enjoy drawing anthro porn of them a lot and I think their designs are neat (Chrysalis and Discord probably being my favourite ones).
As for the fandom? It's garbage. It's obsessive, very hermetic and scary as fuck. The drama in it is massive and half of the time I don't even know what it is about. I did see immense potential in the early fandom that's mostly been squandered by now. All the projects I was hoping to see (Pony Tactical RPG) are now dead and replaced by stupid porn minigames shit. Oh well.

Former self acclaimed brony here, the show was cool but when they humanized for the movie I stopped watching. The porn is good sometimes but overall I think that the fanbase is cancerous and cringey as fuck with a few exceptions.
