I would like to posit that the TC follows a physical law not too dissimilar to Heisenberg's uncertainty principle :

Where Ť is a constant,
Δx is the uncertainty of the length of the TC,

Thatch here, one of the places you can actually visit in JQ II was Menagerie but was scrapped earlier on in concept.
I believe that if ever there was a JQ III (VERY VERY UNLIKELY, JQ II was already stretching it) it would be solely set on Menagerie mainly because it can really can stand alone rife with potential and adventure just set in that location.

What I may have been too subtle in saying is that I don't care enough about the characters (other than Mari, Laurel, and Tyr) to try to remember them. It certainly doesn't help that most of them are so unremarkable that I think that the Origami Killer is going to get to most of them before the quest is over.
