Well, let's break it down to how it interacts. So we have semblances like Yang, Nora, and Adam that can absorb, store, and utilize (let's call it the charge type), Semblances that can manipulate and alter items with Glynda, Pyrrha, and possible Cinder if you consider the glass thing that (Control type) And then we got semblances that can manifest something with Blake, Sun, and maybe the Schnee Semblance (Manifest type, though I'm gonna set the Schnee semblance on its own special category) and last but not least are the current unknowns with Jaune, Ren, and possibly Ruby if what the theory that Ruby's semblance isn't super speed but something else.

I think that's a good start. Some seem to affect the user's body in some way, but some seem to be external manifestations. I don't know if M&K see it that way, though.
But what I'm wondering about is the underlying cause of it all, what powers every semblance to let it do what it does? The soul is the only unifying factor I can see.

The way they used it at the end of Vol 3 just confounded me. I mean, it's an animation shortcut to demonstrate she's using her semblance but it's just throws me off when they use that.
Regardless, the fourth type I guess can be made, and call it a Empower type, and Yang, Nora, Ruby, and the Schnee semblance can all fit into it so we can say that types can be combined.
