And 1 FanFiction waiting period later, here's my fic:
https://www.fanfiction.net/s/11931694/1/
The waiting period actually turned out to be a bit of a saving grace. My brain was fried last night (sorry, anons who asked for a synopsis) Re-reading it this morning while I was waiting made me realize that there was a bunch of shit I needed to fix.
Summary: (I'm just gonna copy the one I wrote for FF)
Zootopia "prequel." Takes place in the Zootopia universe equivalent of a highly romanticized industrial revolution. Slightly steam/diesel punky. (Emphasis on "slightly." It's more an excuse than anything else.) Obviously, no canon characters.
This chapter's short with not a lot of action, mainly as a demo of my writing style (this is the first creative piece I've ever written. Shhh, tell no one)
You know the procedure:
Criticisms, comments, compliments, questions, all that jazz. Especially looking for comments on what I did right, and what I did wrong.
Gonna go eat dinner, but I'll be on later.

>>2681971
It'll probably fill up nicely once the other thread gets 25 more images.
I wonder if there's gonna be a Zootopia game.
>>2681971
That's because of three things:
A: it's early evening
B: Weaver hasn't started his new comic yet and those always spur lots of discussion
C: the threads are split
>>2681971

A Day In the Sun is about Desmond and Molly, (Chumpy's creations) going out on a surprise trip to the amusement park that Dez has set up, only to find that things have changed from how he remembers; fluffy romantic piece, current one-shot.

Maybe he can't buy a home because then people would ask where he got the money if his tax forms say he made zero?
>>2682898
Or he was very heavily exaggerating his take, and spends most/all of it on things like food and the occasional hotel stay.
Zootopia real estate is going fast.
>>2682930
Or he's not really homeless (though might've been at one point) and crashes somewhere nearby.
>>2682891
The comfies are almost here! I'm so excited!
>>2682949
He's homeless. His fox bud even lived in the back of a van, like jesus christ.
>>2682949
Well when Judy goes to find him he IS just laying there by the bridge.
>Lionheart gets out of prison
>runs for mayor again
>his platform is just "Bitch set me up!"
>wins in a landslide
>>2682973
We really don't know that. Finnick loves his van, maybe that's why he sleeps in it. But Nick could have a shitty apartment nearby. What'd he say he made per year? I can't recall the number, but it was above the poverty line.
>>2682951
>>2682997
>Not "Did a bitch set me up?"
To compare with the transit map here: >>2682581
>>2683011
He says he makes 200 bucks a day, which would be about $70,000 a year. Which isn't bad.
But
A:He could have been bluffing to look better, unless he and Finnick weren't sharing an even cut of the profits, he only made $40 from the pawpsicles scheme altogether. And it seemed like they were done for the day.
B:Theres always the theory that hes sending some/a lot/all of it to his mom.
>>2683021
Nope.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Marion_Barry#1990_arrest_and_drug_conviction
>Washington DC reelected this man after he was thrown in federal prison for corruption
>>2683011
He claimed $200 a day, but there's a good chance that was a heavy exaggeration.
Then again, he wears at least two outfits throughout the movie, so he's got to at least have somewhere to store his clothes.
>>2683074
Going by the state of both clothes, it's still supporting my whole Pipe theory.
You guys are fucking morons. There's no way he's homeless. It's a shitty meme. Hide and ignore.

>>2683135
Its probably more expensive to live in super new york than, say, bunnyburrow.
But I'm still on board with the idea that he sends most of the money to his mom, anonymously or not
Initiate comf
>>2683125
I'm not bothered by it, I'm bothered by the arguments for it, the "proof," and the headcanon.
It's just dumb and forced.
If it was canon, I'd have no issue with it.
>>2683233
Well the argument is logical enough. I'm not saying its guaranteed hes living under that bridge, but the argument makes sense. He says Judy is gonna end up living under a bridge, and thats where she finds him after they had been separated a while. Its pretty clear that was intentional, even if they didn't mean that he literally lived under that bridge.
And in the concept art, it had more of a lived in look than it did in the final version.
>>2683187
I'm sorry to hear that
What this thread needs:
Bellwether x pred husband
I also have a story idea for something along this line.
I remember Weaver did a sketch of Bellwether angrily hatesnuggling with her wolf husband on a sofa.
Man, I'm bummed. I just said goodbye to a lot of friends from the choir I've been in the past few years at my school, and I probably won't see any of them again. Shit sucks.
>>2683341
I mean he could put in mine to too, I'm not picky. Or we could just cuddle.
>>2683276
>And in the concept art, it had more of a lived in look than it did in the final version.
Not him, but you understand that probably means it's not canon in the same way that shock collars and the rest of the depressing stuff got cut, right? It being made to look less lived in is evidence that... he doesn't live there.
>>2683276
Of course, back then he actually did have an apartment, in the Rainforest district.
>>2681953
I shouldn't want this as much as I do.
And I really fucking want more of this.
Follow up to >>2680664
Just asked her if she'd do it (I'm at uni for the next week), she said yes
>>2683364
Do iiiiit
>>2683206
I think his mum might be dead tbf, seeing as she wasn't at his graduation.
In her absence he might send most of his money to single-parent support charities. Hell, any charity dealing with poor and disadvantaged inner-city families would suit him.
>>2683276
He said she would after failing at her dream and not knowing any better. Nick wasn't comparing them both in that scene, he was just being spiteful toward her and reading her like the open book she is to drive that nail further in. He grew up in this reality, so I heavily doubt he's actually homeless after all these years of knowing how to survive and hustling for a living. He seems like the type of guy that would rather not be cooped up inside, especially on a nice warm day.
>>2683364
>He's spent all day working on it. A special meal to celebrate her becoming the Mayor, rather than just assistant mayor.
>She's late.
>At first he doesn't think much of it, she was often late back, Lionheart used to give her too much work.
>As dinner gets colder. He starts to worry. All those dangerous predator attacks on the news.
>He turns on the news. He sees her being taken away by the ZPD in cuffs. Big story, on all the channels. She's behind everything.
>He's never felt like howling before. But tonight, goes out onto the rooftop and howls the cry of the betrayed.
>>2683044
Okay, am I the only person that finds it strange all the makers of the movie call Nick by his first name, but they all call Judy just "Hopps". I noticed it when watching that documentary about the making of the film, and now on this sheet. I found it odd.
>>2683366
I'm sorry to hear that, Anon - it's never easy. But there's always Facebook and other ways to keep in touch, and I'm sure you mean as much to them as they do to you! I'm sure this won't be the end.
>>2683455
Rich said on twitter that shes alive, living at the same apartment she lived in when Nick was a kid, and waiting for grandkits.
And unlike many of their answers, there wasn't any ambiguity in the answer, so it seems that that much is for certain.
>>2683447
Need to read up on some lawyerin' stuff for it first.
>>2683457
It was heavily implied that everything he told her was what he went through as a kid, sans the whole police thing. He was being spiteful, yes. But not just to her.
>>2682666
Yeah, I really spent a lot of time thinking about the duo and I think I just had them melded a little too strongly in my head with the narrative itself. I'm definitely going to keep an eye on that in the future, as distinction is key in creating different flavors of text.
Thanks pasteanon, you're doing gods work.
>>2683521
I'm not familiar with common law but otherwise just ask me
>>2683434

>>2683513
>waiting for grandkits
What, Nick got too old for her? Will this sick fucking predator never be sated?
>>2683364
He did?
I only remember bore making such an image.
>>2683468
I noticed that, too when I watched the documentary.
The best thing I can come up with is maybe because Hopps, like Nick, is one syllable, so it made communication between the departments more efficient.
A huge stretch, I know, but it's the best I got.
>>2683479
>>2683495
I'm so fucking glad I asked KK to gib more gazelle
>>2683605
And Chumpy (well I guess the couch is implied).
>>2683610
That makes sense I think.
Also could be sort of hold over from when Nick was the lead and Judy was supporting.
>>2683468
It's because what they actually prefer to be called. Remember, the Zootopia characters actually exist in a vault miles under Disneyland.
>>2683610
Also, as an officer of the law and valedictorian of her academy she's kind of earned the respect of a last name title.
>>2683414
Make sure you use a permanent marker.
>>2683624
omigosh her facial expressions are adorable
Did Weaver continue this?
>>2683647
Are you fucking blind you mongoloid holy shit it was literally last thread
>>2683389
If you want the character overview: shes dumb, ditzy, airheaded, and sex is super important to her so she only sleeps with people she really loves, she really loves EVERYONE. She loves sex and she loves sex with everyone.
She also has panic attacks if she's alone or feels lonely for too long.
Too long could be as short as you walking out to get the mail.
>>2683641
i think this AND the fact that nick usually calls her something like hopps are the main reasons. in their world shes more hopps than judy
>>2683468
Nick is a civilian, it's more formal to refer to Bellwether and Hopps by their family name. Or something.
>>2683666
Maybe he wasn't there for that.
Not all of us have the free time to go on every successive Zootopia thread, Satan.
>>2683666
Not that anon, but that's understandable.
He probably, like me, just got on, and also like me, doesn't want to dig through an 800+ reply thread.
Unless that pic he posted is also from last thread, in which case disregard this, I suck cocks
>>2683704
but all of us have the time to scroll through the last thread since its still up, homofag
>>2683666
>666
>uncomfiest reply ITT
Coincidence? I should think not.
>>2683012
So THAT's what they're doing instead of developing Thumbleweed Park.
>>2683714
nigga you just scroll, its not even archived yet
I'd like to see Judy be super straightforward with Nick and just ask him out when she realises she has a thing for him.
Then Nick turns her down because he's way too unsure of himself to get into a relationship with her but tries to play it off as a joke.
>>2683567
It's mostly about how they're going to charge Bellwether, how a lawyer (her wolf husband) could model a defence and get it reduced from - and this is what I was planning on - bio-terrorism hate-crime to something about "just" conspiracy and poisoning. Basically the DA wanted to come down on Bellwether as hard as they could to get the citizenry to trust in the system again, and to placate a lot of angry predators. Her husband would try to combat a stacked jury of more predators proportionally than there are in the city, to lessen the chance of a jury who are ready to convict on the outset.
His defence would be to basically paint her as a downtrodden victim all her life who finally snapped under pressure and wanted power only to give herself some safety, who set out on the scheme without a specific prejudice against predators (I mean, she really only did it so almost the entire city would be united under her leadership in fear rather than out of direct hatred of predators). He'd twist the evidence and the facts so that it looks less like she's responsible for a string of bioterrorist hate-crimes.
