Theoretically, a skilled fan might highjack the comic and create "prequel 2.0" or whatever, but I've never seen it happen and it'd take a LOT for that to even be a plausibility. In that scenario, yes, I would read your version of prequel over the real one, but as a person I'd resent you for it.
Now, if you did a spinoff series or something, it'd be a different matter entirely. Seeing as Prequel itself is a TES:Oblivion fanfiction I have no qualms.

Actual Kazerad here! A lot of very good talent goes unappreciated, and that's sad sometimes. One of the reasons I try lots of (often bad) ideas and write verbose things about them afterwards is so people can use it as a reference to attain - or hopefully exceed - the success I've had.
The merch, for example, really slowed down updates. After it's done, though, I'm going to be able to write a very comprehensive guide of all the stuff I /wish/ I'd known going into it - everything from the interest levels people had in various products to how to get a 10oz package to the UK for 8 dollars versus 22. While I feel bad about the delay, data like this can potentially mean the difference between a creator making a livable career out of their writing or having to give it up due to a lack of free time. I want to do what I can to reduce success in these things to a science, rather than luck, so that all creators can get the outcomes they need or desire.
Not that that excuses my horrible delays and bad foresight in these things! I just want to combat the idea that I'm stealing all the Success away from more deserving people. I'm trying to do what I can to make it more easily attainable.

Short answer: I don't.
Long answer: Oblivion was my first Elder Scrolls game. At first I was having a blast just exploring the terrain and doing quests; I even skipped a night or two. I tried everything the game offered. But then I realized the game is turning more and more difficult. Every enemy was a bullet sponge, every hit took half of my health and I needed to cheese my way through encounters. Then I realized that my happy frolicking leveled the enemies up to impossible heights. I started hating the game, uninstalled it and deleted the save file.
However, after some time I started missing the general feeling and freedom of the game. Installed it again and created another character. Got out of the starting dungeon and then remembered that fucking quest killing Rumare slaughterfish. Uninstalled it.
In the meantime, I played Skyrim and Morrowind; I have mixed feeling on both of them. Morrowind is an awesome RPG, but today it's clunky and I miss some features of newer games, while Skyrim is a cool bandit-slaying casual game with little depth. Recently, I found a thread on /v/ praising Oblivion and I thought about maybe returning to Cyrodiil. Bought the game on Steam (my old DVD is unreadable) and started it again, hoping that, richer by past experiences, I'll be able to enjoy it more.

Actual Kaz here. That's not entirely accurate.
The MSPAForums became unwieldy because there were thousands of readers, and you had to scroll through everyone's commands and suggestions to get to story content. So, I moved it to its own website.
Some people from tgchan had been like "you should move here!" before, but it was never really something I considered. It wouldn't really solve any of the problems, and to be honest there was a fairly good chance tgchan's server couldn't handle my traffic.
