ATTENTION TO ALL /POL/ EXPATS HERE ON /TRASH/- if there even are any.

As many of you may know, we have been under siege by newfags and redditors ever since the US election cylce began heating up around mid-to-late September, and now we are flush with off-topic threads, "redpill me on X" threads, and, of course, the "/POL/ BTFO / Well /pol/? / It really makes you think... / X is right you know / Hmmm.." bait threads.

One of the main faucets of all these shitters is most likely the Trump General, which is a magnet for cancer and shitposting- a containment for redditry and newfaggotry.

We also need to cut down on constant shitposting and memery (e.g. POO in LOO, Angloposting, post chains in general) a good example of which would be in places such as, or course, Trump Generals. We don't want this cancer to spread to the rest of /pol/- we don't want to become /tv/ 2.0.

Some basic steps to lessening the constant cancer that everyone should employ:

>-Not posting in bait/off-topic threads

>-Reporting all off-topic/bait threads

>-Report all /b/-tier/off-topic posts

>-Not responding to "redpill me/tell me/teach me" threads with anything more than "lurk more" whilst using sage to not bump thread

Why here on /trash/? If this thread were on /pol/, it would be nuked by whiny newfags spamming and it's also easier to discuss things on slower board. /trash/ fit fairly well since it plays the roll of an off-topic board- a "secret" /b/ of sorts.

General discussion of making /pol/ great again below.
>>
Will /pol/ ever recover past GE shitposting?

2012 brought on a lot of terrible threads, especially on the nights Romney lost.

>>2604145
It may or may not, but it is possible to lessen shitposting by doing your part reporting threads and posts clouding up the rest of discussion.

Mods on /pol/ are absolutely shit, though.

Here's a good example of baitposting.

The OP posts a video/image/link, says something along to lines of "What does /pol/ think of this?", then usually leaves and watches discussion

The problem with this is it encourages spam of threads with the exact same subject over the course of a day instead of neat, general-like threads, and it treats /pol/ like a reaction experiment where they just post the thread to see how the "community" of /pol/ would react, rather than for the actual discussion.

Such threads should be prosecuted, but just aren't for whatever reason.

Here's another example of how to not make a thread.

Threads aren't supposed to be treated as "super-comments" with posts in it acting as replies to said comment.

Shit like this, again, clouds up the catalog.

>>2604407
It's beginning to go the way of /tv/ and /v/. More and more newfags flooding in and overly saturating a meme the second it comes into existence. Just using /trash/ as a platform for discussion of it.

Hopefully we can prevent another board falling to normalfags.

These types of bait threads are done by /r/4chan crossposters trying to manufacture some of the "magic" they see on their cancerous subreddit or by newfags doubly trying to get some of that "4chan magic" themselves.

the best thing to do is to ignore them, if you post in the threads you are part of the problem

also /pol/ isn't meant for right wing discussion only, it's for all politics, it's just that most people there are right wing/natsoc/whatever
>>
>>2605613
>/pol/ has always been shit
Literally the excuse of any outsider when a board turns to shit. To claim "it's always been shit".

I've been on /pol/ long enough to know that it's never had this amount of off-topic and shit threads.

And you should be worried as well, since newfags are taking cancerous /pol/ memes outside of /pol/ and spreading them everywhere. You hate cuckpost spam of recent, right? This is where it's coming from.

So what's your solution? /pol/ cannot be cured without mods making amends. There are too many juveniles. Either make a new /pol/ outside or wait for hiro's attention. Because mods are too scared to make any change by themselves

That's a given, but things like >>2604815 are technically part of /pol/. Things like >>2604538 however are to be reported.
>>
>>2605944
It's probably because it encourages nation based memes to go around, like australian shitposting and poo in loo, making people disregard whatever a poster has said for a quick little meme.
>>
>>2605906
This, I did notice that /pol/ became increasingly popular when the republican nomination came to the table. I was skeptical about the off-topicness of threads, but I assumed that was because /pol/ is pretty much a containment board too.
My advice OP is keep making these threads calling out the mods and to an hiro. They have done their job with /a/ and /mlp/ while an hiro was here so the same can happen to /pol/
>>
>>2605944
Does not go with the spirit of 4chan. Brings focus on the identity of the poster rether than content of the post
>>
>>2604442
>Hopefully we can prevent another board falling to normalfags.

Same. I've been making a point of making my posts overtly racist and making sure to litter them with racial slurs. I do it in the hopes it keeps the more sensitive and liberal minded normalfags from coming back to /pol/. I'm find with normie right wingers, but the board cannot fall to leftism, which is what the majority of the normies are. Never has there been a place where I can freely express my right wing opinions without being silenced.

I just recently started browsing 4/pol/ a few days ago and found all the banter and even the shitposting pretty entertaining. But it barely serves that purpose. Most of the time it's just off-topic shitposting. /pol/ manged without flags before. It can manage now. Just look at /his/ for example. It was cesspool of shitposts when there were flags. I don't know their political alignment but their discussion seemed civil when I visited that place post flag removal. If someone wants to identify their national identity they can state it in their post. Honestly even forced tripfaggotry would be relatively better than forced flag

/x/ doesn't want it. You want to force something in a board that doesn't want it?
>>
>>2606602
Right you are I forgot about that.
This seems an annoying rule in that if you talk about politics you will invariably talk about the hidden motive for politicians' and leaders' actions and speech, unless you take everything they say at face value, which is naive. This is already verging on a 'conspiracy theory'. I'm not sure there's much of a tangible difference between saying 'X politician is in the pocket of X special interest group, though he would never admit it' and a conspiracy theory, and it's very hard to discuss politics without speculating as to true motives given politicians are so consistently dishonest.

They just don't care. Also, this thread is a dubsmine.

>we have been under siege by newfags and redditors ever since the US election cylce began heating up around mid-to-late September
Huh
That explains why it's been so shit since september
That's why ironic shitposting should be shunned, it actually atracts newfags and feel them welcomed

I never go on /pol/ and frankly, never will. But I just have to say that your idea is the dumbest possible course of action.
Leftists feed off of confrontation, and if they don't find it, they will start it.

I'm not sure what to suggest in order to actually make an improvement, but the best advice I can give you is to make heavy use of board-specific jargon.
I frequent /k/, and you can easily tell when a Californian leftist posts, they are absolutely clueless about what they reply to.
Use that to your advantage, as if a Leftist can't get attention/doesn't understand the conversation, they will just give up and try something else.

maybe the cancer is you OP, why would you even bring that up if you aren't a sandroid

Not anti-Trump, just anti-shitpost, which the Trump Generals are full of.
>>
>>2606024
Just ignore and report, lad. Simple. You're just feeding them.

/pol/ exists solely to redpill via memetics.

Content from r/thedonald is getting onto Reddit's frontpage. The liberal bullshit is getting slowly purged and Reddit is no longer a safe space.

If you don't mind, OP, I reposted this on /pol/ because it just makes much more sense there:

I've been away from this thread a few hours but I agree, you have a point. Guess I'll have to break out my obscure /pol/ memes and phrases.

>>2609533
It's also full of stateposting but that's generally tolerable. Trump Generals are a good place to get Trump-related content and ammo to use against the opposition, you just have to sift through the 90% of posts that are shitposting or simply animeposting/hatposting. Not that I have anything against it, I actaully enjoy anime myself but it gets annoying when they post their pictures and add nothing of value and their argument for relevancy is "hurr durr my anime character has a maga hat shopped on it, so it's relevant." I don't complain on there though and I just let them be, it's generally the redditors that complain loudly and they succeed in their objective of getting the animeposters to furiously spam the threads closer to archive. And the deliberate shills and the trolls pretending to be shills just drag the quality of the thread. The most cancerous posts are probably the pics with the arrow and "the person below is_____" or the "you have been visited by x, posty y and z will/will not happen" and the worst are the roll images. And regarding repeating digits a regular /pol/ack might take notice of quads, quints, and above, but it's obviously the migrants from /b/ that obsess over doubles and triples.

I've seen people get permabanned for even less, if you knew your chan history people have been banned for posting gifs of spilling chocolate milk or simply asking the mod to ban them. Pretty much everyone that posts here regularly has banned at least once, and you're bound to be hit with permabans about once a year if you're the average non-retarded person just unfortunate enough to get caught up in a group ban if a mod feels like banning everyone that posted in a single thread.

It's more evidence that the janitors on /pol/ are against us. They let blatant slide threads persist but when there's informative threads that bring attention to the sliding and shilling on the board, they delete it quickly.

Got this some time ago for reporting a /pol/ btfo thread
>>
>>2611198
Yeah, it's as I expected, I was also warned for reporting slide and shitposting threads. I'm not sure what could be done about it, should we try to get a hold of Hiro and tell him to throw out these rogue /pol/ janitors and admins? I have half a mind of actually bothering to apply for janitor next time applications are open and gathering IP logs or some identification of the rogue janitors, and then anonymously leaking the list on a pastebin or something.

It'd be because you clicked 'illegal content'

I click that once on some faggot's DUDE WEED BROWNIES LOL thread and got the same shit

Apparently it's literally just for reporting CP and school shooters and shit.
>>
>>2612826
didn't click illegal-content, lad. I always differentiate the two
>>
>>2612826
The benefit of 'illegal content' is jannies don't have to look at the post for deleting it. I've gotten that SEA comics making dude's posts deleted lots of time with that
So even if few people check "Illegal content" post is guaranteed to be deleted

Oh irony of ironies.

Does this mean we're about to see an influx of Nazi fur art? Because I'm all for that, really.

/pol/ has a three main problems, funposters, legitimate paid shills (who are mostly there to disrupt Trumps meme magic), and finally well meaning idiots who don't understand the first two and will always engage them

Honestly this is what happens every fucking time a board gets slightly popular. It's a process you can't avoid because eventually we get outnumbered by people who come for memes.
Really sad, the only fix would be proper /pol/ moderation but that is pretty much impossible too.
I find solace in thinking that the newfags who come get redpilled eventually but I don't even know if that is true.
