It's mostly personality-wise, but I visually designed Ascella to mirror her inner qualities instead of just making a crab-themed girl.
She desires mainly to help and build relationships that she can protect and serve happily for, but has a hard time doing it. Mostly because she has the power to enter and alter the thoughts of others, by consent or by force.
It's supposed to be used to grow closer to people—to achieve a complete, mutual understanding with someone's every thoughts, but she would totally mind-rape someone if she had to.
So I ended up creating a girl with a lonely, compassionate gaze, who has an ethereal quality to her. Her hair is pure white, her eyes are an icy blue, and her gown is white as well, and sheer in a couple places because 'mystique'. She also doesn't wear socks or shoes to fit the theme of 'eerie dream-girl'.
Something else, the theme of the entire book is self-identification, defining what you are, what you can and can't do, etc. The theme helps teach the characters that if they honestly wanted, they could reject the parallels of them and their corresponding zodiac sign. They don't have to limit themselves to it.
Here's another one. Terry, formerly known as (literally) "The Son of Antares", Antares being Terry's father, a very prideful, powerful person. Terry is based on Scorpio.

A few things...
1: Their legs are too short. It's worse on Vaida than it is on Gale, but both of them need longer legs.
2: Vaida has a weird 8-pack. It's anatomically incorrect. The The bottom-most muscles of the abs are called the iliac crest/Adonis' Belt/V-cut. I had to look up what it's called, cuz there really is no general consensus on what to call that area. Anyways, the V-cut muscles flow from the abs into the pubic area of the pelvis. They don't bulge like the 6 pack, and are shaped very differently. Pic related. Also, if you wanna be even more accurate, the top 2 should contort to the shape of the ribcage, meaning they'll have a slope on the outsides that round off as they meet in the middle. It's not always like that, though, so it's not a big deal.
3: Frizz up that tail on Vaida like her hair. I think a frizzy tail would better capture the unkempt, wild nature of her character. It's also fitting, cuz she's a Hyena.
4: regarding technique, it looks almost like some of the parts you draw look on-the-fly, as in you draw a part, and then draw what you feel the next part would look like, and so on, without planning the whole thing out first.
It could be why the legs came out short, and it could be why Vaida's torso looks so abnormally large. You have a great concept going, but its execution can be improved upon.
Take your idea, re-draw the pose if you'd like, but either way, make sure you start by drawing a stick skeleton. Use circles to mark joints and areas like the chest, shoulders, knees, hips, etc. Tweak proportions until it's looking decent, and then start drawing the body from there. Build it up, tweak what you want to tweak as you go, and then go ahead and ink/color. It's slow, but it makes a better end product.
Or ignore that suggestion if I'm wrong or you disagree, and continue to draw as you find comfortable. The other 3 suggestions you should work on regardless.

I also thought that was odd, too. I've seen plenty of other people draw abs that way, and figured it was about right. I should be using reference instead of working off of assumptions, though. Thanks for the advice, /ic/ could use more people like you.

That was totally not the goal of the post. If I were to get art of my characters, so be it, but I posted what I would call the best drawn pic of him in hopes others would jump on and post theirs, because I was positive there were more of us here.
Like I've said before, I made these characters when I was younger, so they have some character in them, but not enough. Now that I'm old and sour, I do make the characters to fulfill my dirty needs, but there is one I try to keep out of public eye and away from those things.

Ghighi is a rampant anime fan, but kinda keeps to himself. Only bit about him that makes it obvious is his hair. His hair kinda happened in a dare, and he left it. Became all about gains after the hair. Wanted to be as strong as Goku himself.
In terms of asphyxiation, those pictures usually have their own stories, not revolving around them enjoying it.
Here's Dorothy "DOTS" the Orange-Tan Scallywag, a run-of-the-mill dog girl. Her 'breed' and stuff don't actually matter, so you could classify her as a 'mutt', but that's like calling a black person 'nigger'. You're not wrong, they mean the same thing, but you're a dick for saying it.
Dots was orphaned by her biological parents for unknown reasons, and was adopted by a human couple who mistook her for a regular puppy for 2 years. In those two years, she was given puppy formula, taught to do things like a dog, and was given that terrible name. Once Dorothy figured out how to walk and say "Mama", the parents realized they fucked up, and made sure to fix their errors by raising her right.
Dots is what you'd expect a dog to be like. Loyal, obedient under higher authority, but highly competitive with anyone she finds her equal, and even bossy/a bully to those she finds beneath her. Dots will accept nearly any challenge, and puts so much effort into winning, you'd think it was the only thing the existed to do. She was a high school cheerleader for a great football team, graduated on the honor roll, blah blah; she's too competitive for her own good. Really. Sometimes, she'll even take a dare or a challenge that was meant to be a joke, and she'll take it just as seriously as any other. Best example: point out a specific spot, like the edge of the block, or some other location, and then challenge her to a footrace there. She'll probably run off until she gets there, even if you never actually moved from your spot, just to prove that she's the best. She totally sucks at videogames and puzzles, though. She's more body than she is mind.
When she isn't being a hyper-aggressive bitch, she's actually really nice, affectionate, and pleasant to be around. Just never, under any circumstances, challenge her to anything ever.
I adopted her from someone a while back and developed the character for keks.

I was going to expand on Stacy somewhat, and start describing her family. Only problem is I still can't draw, so right now it's just some ideas about Stacy's mom (And yes she's got it going on).

Alright, but it's not like I just laid out the simple way and stopped there. sometimes, it is that easy, even for the inexperienced. It might result in some shit characters, but everyone has to make those at some point.
It's important to mention the most direct method, since some newer people might overthink everything as if it's some huge ordeal each and every time, since not everyone new to a subject can make the direct simple connection.

I've never handled the direct route. Trust me, I can attest to your method leading to great things. One of my best artist friends has come a long way in 5 years by doing just this. Leaping head first into something, and working out the kinks as they learn from each success and failure. No two people learn or even apply their knowledge in exactly the same way, though. That's why I find the 'just do it' method a meme. Not everyone can 'just do it'.

Actually sort of related gripe here: your character design doesn't really matter. What does matter is that you get a complete ref sheet with front and back views, hand and foot details, and a couple of poses. This makes it so much easier and quicker for other people to draw.

It's a lot easier to continue working now that I don't have to stare at a ref. I can just wait until everyone's asleep and work comfortably. Not only that, but I got my refill on Adderall, so I have enough energy to work on things again.
Oh, and I probably didn't make it clear at first but... I'm not stopping at the sketch... If the sketches come out nice, I'm gonna take as accurate a picture as I can get, and then ink/color it...
