You could always go the FO:E route and basically rip off a bunch of pre-existing stories, mix and match them together into something super edgy with "depth" that was completely lifted from better works.
That being said, as someone who writes every now and again, believe me: All you really want when you have that sinking feeling that no one will ever appreciate your work is one, maybe two people you can write for. Just one or two people who will be there and interested in the next turn of events you write down.
Even that will do the trick most of the time. Just remember that those people genuinely care, at least as much as you care about other fiction.
