Out of all of the characters who have become "flavors of the month" on /co/, which one stuck with you the longest? I always think back to 2014, when an Australian movie called Gumnutz suddenly took off. I can't even remember her fucking name, but I always remembered liking her and what the artists did with her. There were about a dozen drawings done.
>>2305324
Perhaps a dozen isn't a lot. But the thread was deleted lightning quick. The obscurity of the character, combined with how quick the drawings poured in, is what made me remember it even though I forgot the character's name.
The female raccoon from the Dr unicorn thing. She was cute.
>>2305696
She was always one of my favorites, mainly because she was more feral than what /co/ usually lusts after. I remember a lot of people tried to justify it at the time by saying they really liked her voice, and it was her voice they were attracted to, but I just wanted that coon poon.
I fucking hate leggy now, its been three years and people still ask for her
>>2306016
My main problem with her is that I'm generally not a fan of fanon. Because Leggy was literally nothing, her entire existence is fanon. Her name is fanon. Her personality is fanon. She's essentially an OC that the community collectively made.
What is the general threshold for a character becoming a proper flavor? Was Kanga a flavor? She had a series of threads over the span of a week, but I believe only six-or-seven drawings actually came out of it.
>>2306042
It's such a common hyppocricy that OCs from other websites get shit on by /co/ in general, whereas OCs made in /co/ are generally worshipped and run to the ground, when they're often just as dumb.
Jungledyret is my favorite series of all time, Drossel sticks with me too
>>2306042
Well there you go. She was just a unused base that anyone could mold, story or art wise. Then Leggy was build up from there. Guess some people can grow attached to that.
>>2306016
You wanna talk about asking for X in droves. See pic related.
And I love Callie, just didnt think shes loved this much. Probably partially explains why that Swat Kats kickstarter reached its goal twice
Between her and the lamb at the time, I definitely had a thing for the imperialist fox girl.
Hermione the Stoat was a quick flavor that grew on me. Knew of her before but didnt watch the Sherlock Yack show until last week. This show has plenty of flavors I hear.
>>2309077
I came to 4chan in 2009. I know Rita was spammed heavily at some point, with that "everybody's furry for Rita" thing, but I missed it. I'd liked to have seen the old days. People still insist Vitani from The Lion King 2 used to be pretty popular back then as well. Not sure if that's true, however.
>>2309165
Has there even been a new episode since those threads became popular a few years back? I remember people saying, at the time, a new episode came out every year. But it sort of just died suddenly.
>>2309285
/trash/ kept her alive. I'm grateful for that. This time last year, when janitors put the /co/ thread on death row, that would have been the end of it.
>>2305324
This character's name is Pepper. Finally found that out.
>>2309362
Oh, Vitani is best lion that is true
What makes a flavor of the month a flavor of the month? That is, why do they last so short a time?
Is it the lack of nostalgia? Will children grow up on Sherlock Yak and make >>2309285 the new Minerva Mink?
Is it the brief nature of their time in a show? Clearly Kanga would not be here >>2308600, with doubles no less, since she's not a one off.
Is it just that we are in desperate search of something new because of the lack of decent western animation (and Korean animation in the case of Yossi)? So desperate in fact that a new cartoon cannot sustain our overflowing desire and burns out just in time for something new to catch out eye? But then, mlp and littlest pet shop still have a noticeable fanbase that seems to just not burn out no matter how much we'd hope.
So what keeps a flavor of the month from being a flavor?
>>2309780
Content. Littlest Pet Shop and My Little Pony have new episodes being released. When the episodes and comics end, the art will dry up, and the fandom will die. When a waifu is found in an old show, everything is already on the table. All 52 episodes of Sherlock Yack were uploaded onto YouTube. People watched them, got all of the waifu material out of them, and then they were all used up. There was no new content to be found.
Everything has a limited shelf-life. In due time, even Judy Hopps will be old news even though she's been getting spammed for a month straight. You need a fresh supply of content to keep people... inspired.
Does buffalo belle count or was she more of a /v/ thing?
>>2310302
I recall seeing her on /co/, but they were mostly threads that didn't get a lot of traction.
>>2310367
I have no doubt. He asked about the character on /co/, however. I don't think she ever really took off there. But as I've said before, I don't really know how many drawings or threads need to be made before something is considered a flavor by /co/ standards.
I loved Cadpig. Back in 2014, several threads were made over the course of a week and a number of artists drew some great things featuring her. But like Kanga, I'm not sure if she was ever considered a flavor of the month at the time. By that point, characters only seemed to stay popular for a limited period of time.
My personal favorite.
The fact that she only appeared in the ending credits of a single episode for about 2 seconds makes all the fan art she got that much better.
>>2310573
It helps that Mouse and Snake were always the best parts of any Fish Hooks episode. I hated the show, but I liked their vignettes at the end.
I suppose this thread only works if people are feeling particularly nostalgic about a character that was popular on /co/. I probably shouldn't have made it so narrow in scope, but it is what it is.
The whole flavor of the month thing sort of died with Pavita. She wasn't my cup of tea, but she was apparently more beloved than most of the characters posted in this thread. I know, at the time, people were also trying to get some of the experiments from Lilo & Stitch popular. I think there were some other characters people were trying to force by posting everywhere as well. It was bad timing and the board became overwhelmed with it. I guess it was an inevitable end.
>>2312704
I still can't believe everyone went for the turkey and not someone else
>>2310573
>>2310612
Far as im concerned, they were the only parts.
If anybody does coloring and has the time, could some make an attempt at this pic here?
>>2309285 has her fur colors for reference. The blush on her cheeks is part of her usual style or whatever you call it. I would be very grateful.
>>2309159
I've never been a big fan of Callie. She's an old-school cat-girl, which means she looks more human than I'm accustomed to. I think she's technically supposed to have fur, but it really doesn't look like she does. It's off-putting.
>tfw no Mrs. Fennec drawings
>>2319255
She was never a flavor of the month. You can't just use this thread as an all-purpose waifu dumping ground. But then again, based on the number of replies, /trash/ doesn't care much for flavors of the month.
Perhaps the /co/ population on /trash/ is smaller than I thought.
>>2320774
I only come here when some thread on /co/ redirects me here
too much generic furthreads and ponyshit to wade through otherwise
>flavor of the month thread already falling out of interest
figures
>>2329843
Based on the fact that it only has thirteen unique posters, I'd say it didn't have much interest to begin with.
>>2305324
i really fucking want more pepper
it's a shame there's been no new art, i'd expected it to slow to a drip but not stop entirely.
>>2319255
Much to my horror (and possibly yours) in the last thread, we already figured out after hiring multiple military cryptographers and hackers that unfortunately...
>MRS.
Mrs. Fennec's pussy has already been taken and cummed inside of. Multiple times, screaming knotted orgasms while Mrs. Fennec's pussy squirts around the knot of her husband as he desperately tries to yank it out to push it back inside of her further.
Meanwhile, you and I sit alone in our computer chairs, looking at her through the glass screen. No knots, no squirting, no Mrs. Fennec around our cocks.
>>2330821
The threads were shot down on sight back then. I tried making a secondary and tertiary thread as the days passed, but they weren't allowed. The thread on pco went on undeterred, but nobody in their right mind used that site. It's been nearly two years. I don't think that particular ship is returning to port. But I did like her. It's sort of like what happened recently with that stoat girl. Pepper is a numbat, which isn't something you see every day.
I guess one thing hasn't changed. The ovie can still only be watched on Russian websites.
>>2331026
I keep messing up that post. Oh well. I'm going to bed. Can't keep trying to fix it.
>>2331026
>tfw reduced to adding screencaps to my gumnutz folder because of the slow rate of new art
>>2330971
so what you're saying is that if you like cuck, you're in luck?
>>2305324
How did that movie even...What were they trying to do? Advertise something?
>>2305696
tfw Youtube probably killed her and Cartoon Hangover as a whole with the new terms making full animations less viable.

HOLY SHIT... where'd the time go?
>>2335411
After Kangaroo Jack, Australia really really wanted another film to boost tourism.
So funding became available for domestically made films.
So this.
>>2335411
There really needs to be more furry /fit/ waifus.
>>2335812
Tigeress comes to mind. Pepper is second though
pepper needs more ass pics
>>2310438
>>I loved Cadpig.
Good taste
>>2344904
She kept getting art for months after those threads ended, but the well has run dry for the past year or so. Not much is trickling in.
Mrs. Katswell and Counting Cougar since they both happened at the same time; however Mrs. Katswell went on and continued to get a bunch of art while Cougar fell off pretty quick.
>>2305696
Man, I really want more of her.
>>2305324
>I forgot the character's name
I see what you did there
Does it count if they were your waifu before they were a FotM? Because pic related was my first crush
>>2347901
Same here, man.
Best Halloween season ever
Either Winnie from Ghoul School, or Secret Squirrel in a girl scout uniform. I don't know why Squirrel Scout stuck with me, though.
>>2305324
>>2347828
Ha, this made my morning.
>>2348131
I don't enjoy all of the FotM fags claiming her but yeah the fanart and ongoing quest threads are great.
>>2344904
>>2310438
GOOD TASTES!
>>2349109
She really is the greatest.
>>2348640
Hey I have a question for you guys. How do you get over other people constantly claiming and fondling over your waifu? How do you just not want to kill them?
Or maybe none of you actually know how to and are secretly brooding inside, seething with anger, but you never want to know it on a public imageboard for fear of criticism and being called an autist.
So I will take the heat for you.
>>2351279
The more people who like a waifu, the more art there is for me. Very few people on 4chan actually take waifu culture seriously enough to want a character solely for themselves.
>>2351279
Somebody asked a similar question in the last Freya thread.
On a related note, I hope the recent shitty port sparks new interest in my slightly obscure waifu.
>>2351279
Honestly I'd love for some mega-autist to pick up Pepper and commission a ton of art of her.
>>2351279
I don't get pissed I just consider that person a joke.
That Stoat, that stoat. that sneaky sneaky stoat.
>>2356091
...is yesterday's news. It's a shame, really. Really made me wish /trash/ had a higher post limit before autosaging. Maybe her thread would have still been alive today.
While I doubt anybody would say she became a flavor of the month, I was just reminded of Pups of Liberty and the series of threads /co/ had about that. About a dozen drawings were made, which is nothing to sneeze at, but it certainly didn't become a big thing.
>>2357142
She was a cutie.
I guess I'll give this thread a bump before bed. I'm still hoping something good can come out of it.
>>2351279
cleo's my waifu , no one else cares about her so i'm fine.

>>2306016

>>2366191
She was one, which is what counts. I think many of us wish other flavors had that sort of long-lasting appeal.
Will draw for (You)'s.
>>2368661
pepper working out (viewed from behind.)
>>2368661
Honestly, you could take your pick from any character in this thread. I pretty much love all of them.
>>2368661
Lola's mother.
and sale?
>>2369315
I remember when she was first posted, but honestly, I don't remember much art getting made of her. How much actually came out of those threads?
>>2368661
seconding any more of Coco
>>2369315
people forgot about her fairly quickly, probably in less than a month.
>>2370301
That's how I remember it as well. I don't see much art on the E621 either.
>>2305324
Underrated character.
>>2368661
A sexy mongoose
>>2371957
patsy smiles is the most underrated there is.
>>2372368
Sadly, she never quite became a flavor of the month. Her giraffe friend sort of did, as the Squirrel Scouts by extension benefited from that, but Patsy was underloved.
>>2372530
How there managed to be so little R34, especially so little good R34, is one of the great mysteries of the internet.
>>2375192
Camp Lalzo was a bit of a let-down. People expected Rocko. It wasn't Rocko. The Squirrel Scouts were literally the best thing about it.
>>2375398
Yeah but show quality has only tenuous relationship to porn quality.
In-fact it's probably one of those funny inverse-bell-curve things where mid-tier shows like Lazlo are overlooked, while better/more popular shows (obviously) get more porn from sheer numbers, and less popular/shittier ones get more because of novelty value (in some cases 'lol i took this shit thing and made it hawt', I'M LOOKING AT YOU CHOCHI'S DOBSON.)
What I wouldn't give for more Popy
>>2377307
She was cute, but even though I know she had at least four decent length threads on /co/, I don't think much art, if any, was actually made of her.
>>2377307
Ay, someone remembered that show.
>>2379816
I still find it weird how that was an episode about her desperately needing to shit, with her stomach gurgling, but unable to find any toilet paper.
>>2377307
There's always this Yiffy Von Yiffenstein guy who is basically the waifu authority on Popy and has done most of the art of her.
I don't know if you guys like to jack off these kinds of people or not? (Again, going to refer to my post >>2351279).
Poor Alopex didn't last long.
>>2379902
In situations like this, I always feel awkward. That drawing is far better than anything I could ever do, but it still looks amateurish to me. Beggars can't be choosers, but I'll always gravitate towards drawings with a higher degree of production quality.
Granted, I'm not really sure if this is something I'm into, either. But I'm pretty sure it was the end-result of a /co/ thread some months back.
>>2379842
>I still find it weird how that was an episode about her desperately needing to shit, with her stomach gurgling, but unable to find any toilet paper.
LINK! .For reasons.
I think Vicky was the only one that was from an adult cartoon
>>2380935
1:42 in.
Im enjoying this waaay too much. Something about the struggle. Those gurgles dont help
>>2380935
I have no idea what this is about.
>>2382311
She is Vicky the Rabbit and she was part of that whole mess. Also for the record, the Lilo and Stitch experiments already had threads for a week before Pavita blew up. There was also some weird unicorn and the Caramel Bunny from the Cadbury commericals
I have a flavor too rare and obscure for the likes of you ruffians.
This one was flavored in the depths of the Internet and a few good pics made due to the autismforcing of my friend who loves to bring obscure characters out of the darkness so that artists make porn of them.
>>2384301
>>2384251
>Based on Jessica Rabbit.
I literally can't see it.
>>2384301
I made several Furry Tale Theater threads on /co/ over the past few months, but none of them really took off and I don't think any new art was made. My last big one was...
http://desustorage.org/co/thread/79568600/
All of the episodes are up on Hulu for free with ads.
>>2384357
I remember how comfy that show was.
>The Japanese hate it and Sanrio has openly disowned the series.
>They think it's "too American" and strays from "what Hello Kitty should be".
>It's basically the black sheep of the Hello Kitty franchise and is looked at as an embarrassment by the Japanese. It's one of the main reasons why they don't let Westerners work on HK animation anymore.
Oh and the anime industry ruled by anime fans is any better?
This still rustles my jimmies.
> /co/ will never fall for sagwa.
I always wanted to fugg this kitty.
And maybe I just had shit taste back then, but I remember the cartoon being pretty fun.
>>2388816
I already fell for Sagwa when she first aired on my CRT TV sometime around when the Wii first released. Her mom is so much hotter, though.
>>2388930
>>2388930
> Her mom is so much hotter, though.
You're absolutely right.

>>2388816
Sagwa, you're my best friend!
By all the trees and all the does.
>>2395014
Somebody said they were working on something as the thread died, but I don't think they finished it. I doubt anything new will get made at this point.
>>2347901
>Taking a bunch of normal photos on a roll of film, only to develop the film and find Phanty had secretly photobombed every last one of them.
I'm always paranoid that I've missed out on good art because it was only posted on an imageboard, not uploaded to any boorus (or not tagged properly if it was.)
That's been the case for many a picture I've eventually dug up.
>>2397124
I feel the same way. Than god for archives or many pics I find would have been lost.
>>2347901
...where are the full-res pics?
don't know if she was ever FOTM but there's definitely insufficient good art.

Captain Sale from the Rocket Racoon comic. I only saw her introduction panels, so I don't really know what personality she had aside from being mad at Rocket.

>>2420807
It's not the movie but the music. Reguetón is combining the worst kind of rap and reggae and then translating it into Spanish.
>>2421290
That sounds frightening, being a fan of classical music and R&B.
Is there an eng translation or sub anywhere?
Might as well bump this thread to keep it afloat in the torrent of rubbish getting posted.
>>2425053

Did kirbee ever made it to Fotm status? i know that she got Lots of art when co found about her... she still gets lots of art on the endtown threads.
>>2426015
I don't think so but nowadays people will say anything is a FOTM like that Addy shit that got spammed in the drawthread.

suffering
>>2426150
>Addy
who?
>>2426183
Panini's popularity has been pretty much consistent since Chowder premiered. Nobody has forgotten about her. People still want to fuck her. It's because of that consistency that her threads never last. The longest threads tend to happen when people rediscover characters that have been forgotten.
>>2426150
like you said, i honestly don't think she did... i still fucking adore her though, and i'm glad she still gets lots of art to this day.

was sabrina skunk ever FOTM?
>>2426428
No.
>>2426428
people actually likes sabrina?
>>2426428
I very much doubt it. I never saw her get popular, and before my time, /co/ denied that it was furry. I remember that one old image where a bunch of anons parade one girl around only to dump her for another, and then that girl stands in an alley with Frankie Foster and a bunch of other temporary waifus.
I don't think any of them in that drawing were furry.
>>2426458
for porn and only porn.
something about her being very generic yet old makes her appealing even if the comic itself hasn't been interesting for longer than most anons have been alive.
>>2426507
i see, i always found the comic cringey as fuck and i don't find sabrina herself very appealing desu... i was honestly curious.
>>2426474
I think Nessie, Leggy and the Caturday threads kicked of that whole furry FOTM thing in /co/. It helped that most cartoon women designs were getting less woman-like and more noodle-ly.
