/scaly/ - Scaly General: Thread #37
Post lewd reptiles and discuss their anatomy, male or female is fine. Dragons, kobolds, wyverns, lizardfolk, snakes, sharks, as well as other scaly creatures and herps are welcome. If in doubt about something, just ask.
Please try to avoid reposting images from the past 2-3 or so threads, keep it fresh and post other stuff.
Also, you may enjoy a collection of scaly-related writings (as well as other non-smut contributions) here, which you are free to contribute to:

Today's featured image is Alscadox, a tired old matriarch past her prime, and one of Weaver's many characters.
Topic of the thread: What are some of your biggest disappointments when it comes to scalies in media? How do think they could've been improved?

I was going to say movie!Smaug, but then I remembered the catastrophe that was movie!Saphira. I really like Saphira Brightscales in the book series, but holy shit I could not stand her in the movie for some reason.
>>2173984
Smaug was fine, the worst part of the Hobbit was the fucking liquid gold statue effect. Absolutely horribly rendered, almost like an afterthought.
biggest disappointment in general is how lizards/scales/dragons are always evil or mindless creatures.
>>2174014
I hate that too, I don't understand how it started either.
>Two female dragons nearly fight to the death in the midst of mating season
>They do this so the winner can claim your cock and get seeded by your human cum
So wouldn't you fuck the winner? She proved her strength and skill to you.
>>2174183
>So wouldn't you fuck the winner?
No, I ain't gonna reward murder.

Number of dragons you can marry and have birth your child in RF4: 0
>>2173984
>I could not stand her in the movie for some reason.
Can you think of why?
I always liked that Saphira had a last name, shame Paolini was a huge fag and shut out the relationship after the first book.
The tool never made that book he said would be from Saphira's pount if view either. Very disappointing.

Reptiles have been seen as evil or untrustworthy for a long time, m8.

was the eragon supposed to have a relationship of some sort with his dragon?
>>2174226
>Reptiles have been seen as evil or untrustworthy for a long time
But why? There must be a reason for them being seen as evil even as far back as the bible.
>>2174354
idiots don't know how not to step on snakes, probably.
>>2174422
That is a really nice butthole, cool pussy, great boobs, cool tail and feet, but fuck that is an ugly face.
>>2174567
i think deathclaws are beautiful the way they are.
>>2174567
It's weird because the body is drawn really well but the face almost looks traced from the game.
>>2175275
the head also looks like it's on the neck kinda wrong.
>>2174354
They're often poisonous, venomous or both. It's obvious why we'd see them as dangerous and untrustworthy.
>>2174226
Abrahamic religions a shit. India and Greece and what got it right.

I like pics like these where the thing topping isn't the only thing doing any work, like she's fingering his butt at the same time so you can tell she actually cares about whether he gets pleasure or not
>Come up with smut story ideas
>Never get to writing them
>>2176268
me too friend
>>2176287
same tho
just like write ideas and scenes down every once in a while and then bash them together at the end of the week or something to see if any stories fall out maybe
>>2176287
Yeah work is hard.
Who knew?

I have three. First is when they have minor roles, left mostly animalistic, or killed/disposed of with little fanfare, or are set up to job to something intentionally.
Second is awful, awful and utterly ugly designs.
Third, is the phenomenon where even if they happen to be important or cool characters, they are utterly ignored in regards to appreciation, fanart, or porn.
>>2174014
I gotta say I don't mind them being the bad guys, but it happens a bit too often to be fun, and they often have no/poor character behind their moral alignment. So agreed.
Pic related, ironically being from a fighting game story, actually has a decent arc with him even if he turns out more or less evil. It's not as hammy as many "scales r bad" I've seen.
[whatsaspoiler]Doesn't hurt that I found his story involved multiple of my fetishes later on, funny how that works.[/whatsaspoiler]

This is the one that surprises me the most at this point. I'm used to the horrible jobbing.

No, the worst part of the Hobbit was the split into three movies. It's the reason why the whole thing went to shit. I really enjoyed the first movie - it was close to the book, and very well paced. But the segments with Radagast, Gandalf's travels, etc., where were clearly filler and had no purpose apart from fucking with the pacing. The second movie was shit. Just utter shit. It had no goal, no purpose, they milked every scene they could (mainly the barrel one), and forced an awkward love story. No wonder the third movie was nothing but fight scenes - that's what they had been building up to the entire time, by shoving the actual story to the sidelines.
Had they stuck with two movies, I think they could have outdone the LotR trilogy. As it is, it's shit. But yeah, the gold statue scene was awful, and the "realistic" Smaug was shit.
>>2176736
I could understand if it was 2 movies, that would have been fine. The romantic subplot killed the third movie so hard that when I saw it in the theater with my friends, they called in the best comedy of the year. Second movie I enjoyed because of the effects, until that final scene.
The first movie felt like a proper LotR movie, but they steadily became worse and worse, and it was clear and obvious that it wasn't going to get better by the halfway point in the second movie.
Also relevant dumb image.

With two movies they would both have had a purpose. The first could bring the party to the end of Mirkwood, where they could see the Lonely Mountain for the first time, and the second would wrap up the story. Hell, the barrel riding is a really short section in the book. He just sits on a barrel for a few days, which it told through 5-10 sentences. And the final battle is really short as well, because Bilbo is knocked out at the start, and the book just retells the key parts of it to him. There was enough content to make a well paced two parter. But, as evident by all the fucking filler content, fight scenes and special effects, they really had to stretch it to make three movies.
>>2176791
aw
this picture is really sweet
>>2176809
I'm alright with a good fight scene, but like I explained earlier, the special effects became more and more shoddy, so the final fight didn't look good. I could clearly make out copy/pasted groups compared to the actual crowd simulated fights from Return of the King. The romantic subplot also added a good section of filler, not to mention constant changes between character pairs once everyone split up. Bleh. Legolas pulled off some cool shit though, so I'm alright with that bit.

This is such a great adorable oddball concept, holy shit.
Instead of the 40 year old virgin, it's the 4000 year old virgin.

that gave me a pretty good chuckle
i want my own dragon virgin to corrupt/enlighten

Ah. No, I don't have it. And I wasn't able to find it after a quick search. Stuff like that rarely gets uploaded outside of smaller communities.

Honestly wouldn't mind, but I don't like JollyJack all that much.
