Anybody for some prediction/lore discussion?
I've recently re-watched a few lore heavy episodes and it got me thinking of the future of the show.
When you think about it, what is the whole point? There is no clear end goal. Sure, stop the Cluster and the Earth is saved, but you still have a huge gem empire that is working in the background. There is no way in fuck that Steven and the gems will be able to stop them. Even if they fuse in the Temple gem, that's nothing compared to a fusion consisted of two or more Diamonds, not to mention all the tech and army behind them.
So even if they stop the cluster, how in the ever loving fuck will they stop the Diamonds? Like Lapis said, their best bet is to plead for mercy, because realistically speaking, they stand no chance.
I just hope the show doesn't boil down to cliché endings. If Homeworld is going to be portrayed as the "big bad", then I'm gonna get seriously triggered.

I don't think we've seen enough of the show to be able to establish a "goal" that we viewers assume the show will be going towards. There are the obvious ones, like Steven getting better at his powers, learning new powers, becoming the leader of the Crystal Gems, Pearl getting over Rose, Amethyst becoming able to love herself, Garnet becoming less stoic and more social, Peridot understanding Earth and the CGs more.
But as for a clear "endgame", I don't think we have one yet.

Since the very beginning the "end goal" has been narrowing constantly, from random missions around the world, to stopping world-ending catastrophies and homeworld action on earth, from giant hand ships to literally world ending monstrosities hatching under the earth's mantle
It's getting much more focused as time progresses, and now that malachite rears its ugly head back up to cause troubles the focus is getting slightly diverted off-course to characterize lapis and to show how homeworld really wants earth to go up in flames after the whole Blue Diamond fiasco

That's what got me thinking, how long will this show go on for? I don't mind if it stretches out but stays good during all that time. I remember Adventure Time starting around 2010 and it's still going and there was a lot of drama when it came to the quality of writing.

Stopping Homeworld is an ongoing 1000+ year event. I imagine that Steven will "stop" Homeworld for the foreseeable future, just like Rose did. But they will return sooner or later. If the show ends in a similar fashion like that, then that's a lesser evil compared to a cliché ending.

That wasn't the point of my discussion. I wanted to know what was the point of the rebellion and what if there were ulterior motives. THAT is the core engine of the story when you look behind the curtains. The adventures and fun times with Steven is just a by-product of a bigger conflict.

That could actually be possible, if they start from the middle of june and go all the way to the middle of August then that'd stop them about a quarter into S3. That'd result in a crazy fucking hiatus though.
So it will go like this:

>S4:Steven fucks up and awaken Bismuth/Connie dies

Im just saying that a lot can happen in 3 seasons. You cant assume that the stuff we know now is all we're gonna get and that its going to direct the plot of the whole series from here on out. We could get a season where Steven gets accidentally teleported to the planet Glorv and meets a group of loyal but forgotten Gems inhabiting a tiny outpost. If he wants to get home hes got to teach them to love, sing, and build a teleporter that will send him back to Earth. Then they teleport themselves back to Homeworld and turn saboteur, subtly softening its defenses for when the Crystal Gems and their Alligatorman allies invade.
You never know.
