A stable, well-paying job.

Are you like 15 and your allowance isn't as big as the other boys?

I work, but I pay almost no bills as my parents let me act like a neet, so I can blow $400 a week (self enforced limit so I have a backup incase they get sick of me) on random shit and not give one single fuck.

As long as I can hold it in my room they can only nag since its my money, said money would be enough to maintain a wife and 2 children in a sensible budget but I clearly don't have that.

Now OP, clarification, buy one lego a month, you mean an individual brick, or a set, big or small, any spacial limits?

Way I see it you buy yourself star destroyer sets a month which is alot

not even OP but man sometimes being an adult is hard. I live in one of the most expensive cities in North America and that shit isn't easy.

On topic though my purchases really range from month to month, depending on whether or not something I really want pops up on Mandarake or something, or if pre-orders go up for stuff I want. On maybe a quieter spending month I'll blow $60 on gachapon stuff because I'm an addict for everything miniature. I'd roughly say $100 - $200 a month is what I'm at, not really that big a deal

Fucking Christ man,at 400 a week I'd be done with most of my collection wants by the end of the year. I'd have to find new things to buy to spend a second year like that.

Don't you have any desire for true independence? Having a display area larger than your room?
>>
I recently go into /toy/ and I got a $2000 inheritance from my grandpa so I was able to buy quite a bit of toys with that money and have enough left over to buy a new keyboard and mouse which I desperately needed
>>
>>5536340
I make 65k a year and can afford all the toys i wants

You'd be surprised, I honestly asked the doctor if I was actually autistic, from $20 hotwheels a week to looking at over sized chogokins and then some, some weeks are better than others...right now I'm on a roll.

>Don't you have any desire for true independence?
I do, when the folks die and I take the house, if not I actually have enough banked cash for a decent house in a third world country, but a family member who made the same jump I made got robbed in the exact place I was thinking so my time as a house neet continues until a safer place opens up

>Having a display area larger than your room?
My room is just full of boxes with some of the cheaper entries sitting around the place, its a hoarders kinda room.

Once the room gets to a certain point I'll have no choice but to stop, but once I do get a place of my own I plan to drown it in glass cabinets.

I am by no means rich, infact my job is low end with no desire for promotions due to anxiety, but I pay almost no bills apart from the very internet that brings me here.

If not for work, this would be a neets dream

>i wonder how can you have so many toys?
be a little autistic.
I was like that before my mother died. I had a job but was spending all my money on toys.
Now i sit in this room almost alone in this world. Thinking of selling my apartament and moving to another town close to capital...and realize that it was VERY autistic and irresponsible/childish to buy so many toys.
All those goddamn dinosaurs, kiddie-looking toys based on cartoons...all that stuff.
Where i will put them now.
Imagine if all those toys i dont need now would turn back into money...i could be so rich in 1 second...

DO NOT be like me, anons.

1) Buy toys. Buy lego.
2) BUT dont do it mindlessly. Buy them only if you really need them. Like for example a very cool Lego set that will go super expensive in future if you will not buy it (Like that big Lego Sky Pirates carrier they putting in stores right now). While saying "ok if i buy this, that means i wont buy other stuff anytime soon"
Don't waste your money on crap.
You don't need it and you know that already.

>>
>>5536340
I have a job, no kid, I don't drink, smoke or do drugs.

I usually blow about 400€ a month on toys but I could go up to 700~800€ if I wanted to.
>>
>>5536340
I buy toys on sale, at a thrift store, and take time to budget for japanese stuff. My tastes arent so expensive, personally. I got figmas and revoltechs, but no PAKs, Chogokins or 3A's. it helps to have credit, but at the same time it's a hindrance because it's addicting

my dad taught me engines, carbureted though.
fixed minibikes and lawnmowers to buy things like multimeters and oscilloscopes, ecm flashers and learned fuel injection and computer controlled ignition. then started flipping cars in '96 when i turned 16. now i own a used car dealership.
the money i spend on lego, scale model cars, and figurines is nothing compared to buying actual cars, that i'm going to "fix"
oh, and i'm single, that... helps?
>>
>>5536340
I limit myself to 1 figure per paycheck. I can afford as much as I want but it's good to show restraint

I'm a college student that works weekends, and I set up my account so a little under 10% of every paycheck goes into a 'money to burn' account for Legos & vidya. That's usually 15-20 bucks a week, but I don't buy new stuff very often so it tends to collect up until I go and waste some of it
>>
>>5536340
Budgeting.

...seems like something people don't do anymore.
>>
>>5536340
I just watch what I spend

Once my rent is paid, electric and internet is covered and the set amount of money for groceries (roughly $150 a month) it's really good i dont have to pay for water or gas.

$150 for groceries may seem a little bit on the light side, but i buy groceries and avoid going our to eat and rely on cooking due to how much cheaper it is todo and the amount i can get vs instant stuff saves a lot of money.

after all that is said and done, the rest of the money is mine to do what i want. it's not rocket science.
>>
>>5537007

I stopped doing drugs and moved back in with my parents. This hobby is cheaper.

I'm a poorfag 30 year old neet stoner, and somehow I manage to get small sets a month and several minifigures. Don't pay bills, so everytime I grab some cash I try to get neat thingies.
I do some arts and design jobs. Dropped the 6 inch figures 'cause they need a lot of space. Now I just focus on 3 3/4 and Lego.
>>
>>5536654
How is it retarded to spend inherited money? They weren't planning on getting the money so why not buy some cool stuff with the extra money, it's kinda like a tax return
>>
I start a job that pays $10/hour tomorrow, with no real expenses to speak of.

I'm going to do everything in my power not to drown in toys.

NEET in search of a career idea, always managed my Lego collection pretty well with around 1000€ a year.
Have gone a little overboard last year due to the amount of big sets that were retiring and I ignored due to disinterest.
Now it's much better. I realized that the only sets that dramatically jump up in price are Star Wars battlepacks and big ones with limited release like Modulars and everything over 200€. CMFs also only on release unless maybe when it is a 5-per-case one. Most rare parts can be bought on lego.coms Bricks & Pieces in any quantity, even some licensed stuff. This years seems low on big releases. Ghostbusters is redundant due to owning the Modular Fire Brigade, Batcave is something I wanted but I am strangely unsatisfied with the reveal. The Hoth Base is a disaster. Only things looking forward to are the CMF D2C which is still a mystery and maybe the Death Star though I already own the old one and when they just slightly changed the design or figures I might as well don´t care about that either.
>>
I have a good paying job that is somewhat in the toy industry so discounts and free items come into play. The stuff I collect outside of my job come in short bursts throughout the year so I preorder and forget about.
>>
>>5537228

Well, not really retarded to spend some money, no. But the way I understood it at first, he spent all of it on toys. He may or may not have, but either way, it really isn't a wise decision to blow all of your money if you find yourself with an unexpected windfall.

In fact, most would say unexpected money is probably the most important to save. Unexpected money is a lot harder to come by than unexpected expenses, so it isn't ever really a bad idea to set some aside.

If I were told I was receiving $2000 out of nowhere, I'd be more floored to put most of that money away than spend it. If it were me, I'd probably take like, $1200 and put that away, take $400 and make a couple extra payments to 2 or 3 bills, and then take the remaining $400 as spend/fun money..

I'd probably feel sick at myself if I came upon two grand and just blew it all.

Then again, I'm 32, and I've been through good financial times, great financial times, bad financial times and "a $10 bill decides whether or not I eat this week" times.

Right now I'm in great financial times, and I'd rather never see the bad times again, so putting most of the money away feels way more important to me.

You never know when you'll be in a situation that fucks you over....well, unless we're talking about a NEET who gets gubmint autism bux, and has no financial obligations or something.

>Batcave is something I wanted but I am strangely unsatisfied with the reveal.
You made the right call there, it has like 70 fucking stickers

I really don't get why people buy Lego sets aside from wanting specific pieces or minifigs, I mean yeah for like $15 if you're bored a cool building or vehicle is neat for an afternoon, but otherwise why wouldn't you just be doing MOCs?
>>
>>5536572

There's multiple ways to do a proper balljoint arm but Lego seems to like to build their sets with the female end acting as the stump. Makes me mad too.

Not him, but if he lives with his parents and doesn't need to pay rent or phone bills or anything it's not hard to have 400 a month with a shit ton saved up.

I make about 1400/mo right now, but if my parents were covering all my bills I'd have much much more to spend. I have a hard limit of 200/mo on toys which I allow myself to break once a year, and I keep my pre-orders at 120 or cheaper. When I want to keep things light, I just tell myself to not buy anything that isn't on PO.

Saving money ain't hard, it's getting the willpower to do it that's a bitch.
>>
>>5538527
Well I'm 20 right now and have great support from my family and still have $500+ is my account with tax return coming soon and am going to be selling some old transformers but I'm pretty content with the stuff I have now besides a few preordered things.

Not to mention I opened up a retirement account last year and have been putting away a portion of every paycheck into that. Granted I have been dumb and have spend couple hundred bucks on toys, video games, and other stuff but I haven't spent all of my money and don't plan on it. I just see it as I'm younger right now and don't have many financial responsibilitys so why not buy some nice things for myself while I can?

Dude I wish I could afford to do that. Giving my best buds some awesome toys related to their favorite shows and games is such a good feeling. I'll never forget my buddy's face when he opened up a Revo Big Boss for his birthday. Good times.
>>
I have a wife and kid and pull in 70k a year. Although I can afford figures for myself, mostly revoltech, in order to keep the peace I limit myself to 2-3 a year. It's hard to justify spending $150 on toys for myself in a year when I barely spend that much on my kid.
>>
I've been collecting Lego since I was like 5. I'm 24 now.
