The original inspiration was the Paramails from CrossAnge, been trying to replicate the transformation for a while because I liked it so much.
I need to get some more parts before I start working on the next revision of this design, but the goals in the next version are going to be to improve the leg assembly to mount the side skirts to them and to clean up the torso a bit. Also need to figure out making the wings able to fan out and collapse without being too bulky.

If Bionicle is going to end soon, the least Lego could do is release a series of mask packs. As long as CCBS and technic continue, Bionicle mocs will be possible. But masks, I think, are one of the things that make Bionicle feel like, well, Bionicle. New masks contribute to lore/fan-lore and can make things feel novel even if the underlying parts don't include fancy new molds.

I'm pretty sure Lego is mostly using G2 as a test bed which is why they aren't really employing more successful tactics that they use for other themes.

It seems logical that Lego would use Bionicle as an easy and safe way to test, as it already had a following. Plus it would shut up fans crying for Bionicle's return. I'm sure they're planning to continue SW constraction and/or create a new Constraction IP.

Not only this >>5785157 but even when Tahu is reverted back to Mata status he immediately gets the Golden Armor, which after frying an army of Rahkshi gave him the powers of a Makuta. I think that literally makes Tahu the most powerful Toa of all time, so it's absolutely no contest. Jaller wouldn't stand a chance.

Each Toa (Uniter, not Master, if stores in your area still have Masters) has a Creature to combine with.
The combinations are all good in their own right, even if Onua and Kopaka kinda feel lame when compared to others. Ketar (Pohatu's creature) is generally considered to be the worst one. Most people would also say that Gali is the worst Toa, but she's still decent enough. Pohatu also has some issues, biggest one being the color scheme.
But every box has a picture of the combination, so just pick up a pair that looks the best to you. You can mix and match, but I have no idea how they look.
Then there's also Umarak the Hunter, that can also combine with Creatures. Box suggests Uxar, but in story he only combines with Ketar.
Bonkle challenge for those willing to try it:
Hips.
I don't know how easy (if possible at all) it would be to create convincing hips, but it bothers me that often times, people spend hours or days on a great moc, getting it all down, and everything looks good. Except it's a stick figure at the waist, and the transition from torso to legs just looks silly.

Terak will (naturally) look the best with Onua. Not only because of the color scheme, but Terak's big paws fit perfectly on top of Onua's shoulder pads.

Terak and Melum are still disappointing to me.
That one bat creature that Stippling made was pretty cool. Would probably need more work, but a bat seems like a great choice and it looked pretty nice.

Both Umaraks are pretty good. Hunter is the superior one, and arguably the best large set of the winter wave. Current Toa are around 9-10 inches tall, so they would probably make good robot bosses or mascots for 1/12. Best unity combo is Tahu/Ikir, hands down.

Pic related, a little dated, since new sets are much more complex than this. They just swapped out pins and axles for ball joints, but they're reintegrating some of the old style with the recent waves.

It's not easy, that's why nobody does it. Coverage will hinder articulation, there's no way around it. The best way I can think to do it would be T-crotch, but that could kill any forward/backward movement over 45 degrees.

Hmh, that's a shame. It's the only thing that's really lacking. You have these great, pretty anatomically impressive mocs, and then it just doesn't flow down to the legs because of the transition.

*sigh* It's the god damn Protodermis Entity. It's basically the T-1000 if he was never given a body then he had to form one. I didn't take human proportions into a major factor for a reason. Plus it's Bionicle, Human proportions don't always have to be applied.
