>tfw too scared to attempt the hip mod on Hobgoblin wave Spider-Man

I only have a hobby knife and a blow dryer, and I'm afraid of messing up because it's not exactly a cheap figure to replace anymore.

Anyone here do it?
>>
>>5764592
Neither of those tools are adequate anyway. You need a heat gun and a dremel tool to do proper damage cause the plastic is so strong.
>>
>>5764595
Well, looks like I'm stuck with shit leg articulation then. Thanks for stopping me before I fucked it up, anon. I have no idea what they were thinking with such a bad hip design.
>>
>>5764596
Rotate the leg all the way forward, then twist up and out. Youre welcome.
>>
>>5764592
I just did mine, anon.
Hair dryer is completely fine. You don't need a heat gun to get the leg off.

Listen to this anon:
>>5764685

Just be careful with it.

Every time I see photos or videos of people doing it, they take off way too much material from the socket. You don't need to remove all that much to free up the articulation.

I personally used a dremel, but with patience and care, an X-Acto knife should be just fine.

Older pic and using Spidey 2099 as an example of what you need to remove. See the indented area that's circled? Cut that away and you'll have much better articulation.
>>
>>5765910
May I add that if you have Superior Spidey it's not there and the spideys from later waves are better in the range
>>
>>5765806
You'd have to move to 1/10 for that.

>>

Do you have Walgreen Ant Man, Scarlet Spider, Ben Reilly spider etc?

These guys have the same mold, you should practice first before going to town on pizza spidey. Also a blow dryer might not be strong enough, those pegs are really jammed in. Make sure to lever the legs out, rather than pulling them out of the peg.

>>
>>5767831
Venom fluctuates in size, so scale shouldn't be an issue. If you want better sculpt and paint, go with Select, but if you want better articulation, go with Legends.
>>
>>5767834
I prefer articulation to paint and sculpt, so I think I'll bite the bullet on the Legend. Never had a Select before, is articulation bad?

Just bought the MS Hulkbuster for 15 bucks, I'm really excited. Anyone have the tutorial for popping out the head a bit more out?
>>
>>5768133
Can you take a close pic of Juggernauts head? I'd like to see how bad that chipped tooth looks in hand.
>>
>>5768340
They made a Hero Mashers Juggernaut?
>>
>>5768340
The MS version has a better sculpt, by far
>>
>>5768353
No doubt.
I'm surprised at the size of the ML though, didn't expect it'd be as tall as the MS.
>>
>>5768353
Doesn't look like the articulation is much different either
>>
>>5768370
I'm sure if you're just posing them, sacrificing articulation isn't a big deal, but I like to play with my figures so I go for the hasbro one.
>>
>>5768359
They probably have plans for the body and erred on the large size. They needed a step up in terms of bulk over the recycled Avengers Hulk physique, and it looks like it will be a good body for that. Definitely more in line with a traditional ultra buff body.

>>5768370
MS Juggernaut has really bizarre ankles. They're set to move laterally, with no way to make it hinge forward without basically spinning the entire leg around. I would say the Legends will hands down win in that regard, but the MS is vastly better in every other metric.
>>
>>5768379
>but the MS is vastly better in every other metric.
So ML wins at ankles. Got it.

>>5768373
>sacrificing articulation isn't a big deal
Take good look at those two figures and find sacrifices in articulation that are worth an absolutely awful looking Juggernaut.

Because, without having it in hand, if you just go from head to toe and look at the articulation of those two figures, they're really similar. Sure, the ML might get a slightly improved range of motion in a few places, but I highly doubt a fraction of a degree of range here or there will be noticeable to anyone.

So I really doubt the extreme sacrifice in sculpt is worth very minor range of motion improvements.

>I like to play with my figures
Just curious. How is what you do different than "just posing them"?
>>
>>5768427
>So ML wins at ankles. Got it.
Yeah. Ab crunch too, I bet. The MS barely moves there. Not sure what's going on with ML Juggernaut in terms of boot cut and wrists, but if it has either of those it comes out ahead there, too.
>>
>>5768341
Heat the head till it becomes rubbery, pull it out, replace the peg with a Hobby Base Big Size double ball joint, heat again, pop it back together.
>>
>>5768427
>Just curious. How is what you do different than "just posing them"?

sometimes I just need them to stand up straight while another character talks about his plan or goes over plot details. Having Superman and Buzz Lightyear explain to Juggernaut and Krillen the plans to take over the book shelf doesn't require a range of motion.
>>
>>5768433
IIRC, the MS moves back pretty well, but forward, not so much.

I'll have to mess with him again when I reconfigure my X-Men shelf after the new wave gets here in a few days.
>>
>>5768475
Just tested mine, from the fully forward position to the fully tilted back position it moves roughly 1/8"-1/4".
>>
>>5768479
So 1/8" forward and 1/4" back?
>>
>>5768507
No, full range of movement in total, maybe 1/4"

I wouldn't even call it capable of actual forward motion just static straight up and some back.

Just got Scarlet Spider in the mail, and I couldn't help but notice how it seems like it's much better quality than Pizza Spidey. Joints are tighter, plastic quality seems more solid too.

Anyone else who owns both feel the same way? Or is my pizza spiderman just a victim of bad qc?
>>
>>5769482
Mine are about the same, and if anything, My pizza Spidey's joints are stiffer than Scarlet's.
>>
>>5769648
I guess I must've gotten a sub-par pizza Spidey then. His right knee is a little loose and sways left and right slightly and his ab crunch is a little shakey, while my Scarlet Spidey is basically perfect.

Select is amazing and works really well since Venom varies in size so much. I'd say he's still the best Venom figure available. That being said, ML is still really good and he has more of that simple style of a old comic/cartoon Venom so he might work better in certain displays than the more detailed Select. For example I think he looks better next to ML Carnage than Select Venom does because of the difference in detail.

Got the X-Men wave on the way with a Black Panther. So stoked to start a 90's X-Men cartoon line up. Hearing rumours about Cyclops and Colossus in the next wave.
>>
>>5770448

I was right. The SDCC Abomination deco is much better than the Cap Wave one.
>>
>>5770751
What makes you say that? He seems to be a rather solid green as opposed to the mostly 2 toned one. I thought people liked colour variation.
>>
Has anyone who ordered any of the new waves on Dorksidetoys heard anything yet?
>>
>>5770803
>What makes you say that?

Cause it looks better.

I wouldn't mind the two-toned look if it was done better but it isn't. Plus the darker green on him just looks better.

How's the googly eye condition on Rogue, Phoenix and Kitty? Do they look derpy

Those are my biggest fear. I went through 3 Misty Knights from Amazon before giving up and just order 10 of her on my local walmart and return 9 of them on pickup because the googly eyes

Hasbro's gotta stop basing MCU Legends on pre-release concept art. It'd be one thing if that was done so there'd be figures available as soon as the movie was out, but it's months late.
>>
>>5771159
Hasbro just needs to stop the MCU figures and stick to comic figures. These are so bad.
>>
>>5771182
If .5% of your total buyers care about such things, and 50% of that .5% are going to buy it no matter what, there's not a whole lot of incentive to wait things out.

One was rumored for the upcoming Spider-Man wave, but when the wave was revealed it wasn't included despite almost everything else the leak mentioned being featured. But since almost everything else in the leak was true hopefully we are getting one soon.

Nothing's been officially announced or shown, though.
>>
>>5771804
It saddens me that we'll have to wait a very long time for an Ant-Man in this line since they need people to buy their shitty BAF first.
>>
>>5772127
Walgreens exclusive perhaps?
>>
>>5772142
Possibly. Or just pushed back to a later wave for whatever reason.
>>
>>5771947
I don't know which reviewers dicks you're sucking but I own the figure.

It has no waist twist which makes no god damn sense. The legs barely go to the sides at all either just like its 6 inch counterpart.

Not to mention the web shooters can't work like they should on a natural pose. Just sculpted on detail nothing else.
>>
>>5772146
>>5772142
It's now rumored he'll show up in the next wave with Green Goblin, Jackal, and a Symbiote Spider-Man. There were a few others too I don't remember. It seems too good to be true, so we'll see.

And I updated it. I had to cut out a ton of them, but I may go back and update it to fit everyone in, or just break it into two parts.

I'm sure I missed some, but here's what I put together for the moment. There are released photos of some of the figures, like the Abomination wave. I just used comic photos since there weren't any good official, promotional images available.

SDCC tends to open with displays of recent releases, and a few new items. Then, each day leading up to the panel, they show a new wave.

At the panel, they'll show off the waves that they just showed off. And they'll talk about things that are in development for the next year.

So expect ~2 new waves and a hand full of exclusives. Either multi-packs or single cards.

Let's look at last year:

Last year they started by showing off the waves they had just released, and then two new waves (Absorbing Man & Onslaught) and new exclusives.

I absolutely can't wait for them to completely drop the buckycap body. I got comic nick fury and he's a complete mess. Wobbly hips, wobbly ab crunch, and his neck won't even hold his head up.
>>
>>5773775
I've never had that problem with the Bucky Cap mold. I do agree that it needs to get changed out.
>>
>>5773786
The neck was a new one for me too, but the hips and ab joint have been consistently terrible for a long time now. Is that how that sort of thing works? They just have a single buckycap steel mold and it's been getting more and more worn as they've hustled it for the last five years?
>>
>>5773716
I sincerely hope the next Spider-man wave is true. I need my Shocker and Black suit. Spider UK is just a plus.

And I wonder if we'll ever actually get Darkhawk. Maybe when GotG 2 comes out, he'll get a figure? He could take the place of Nova or Iron Man.
>>

Ecuador. The only legends we get are $50 and fuck me if I ever pay that. It's bullshit back in the day we used to get them normally for like 15 bucks in toystores not in some weird "collector" store where they charge 50 bucks for mattel multiverse
>>
When will the Mango Iron man and Civil War War Mchine 2 pack hit stores or did I missed it?

It seems like a bunch of reviewers got early releases, then the two pack was scalped on Amazon for $80 bucks and that's it. Is it supposed to be exclusive somewhere? It never even showed up on BBTS
>>
>>5774071
It's a Target exclusive. Based on how they handled their other exclusive packs, I wouldn't be surprised if it hasn't hit most stores yet and ends up going on clearance.
>>
>>5774087
My local target literally only has Misty Knights and White Tigers. It's been that way for like 2 months now since the last Kraven and Chameleon was sold out. Oh yeah and also lots and lots of Finn Jakkus. Started to think that maybe toy collectors in my area are racists
>>
>>5774092
Man I really wanted to get Misty Knight, but every single one I come across had lazy eyes. I went with White Tiger in the end since the paint wasn't bad on it.

Thank you, I didn't notice until after I paid so I was a bit worried.

I don't give a crap about the package but I just wanted to make sure I was actually getting one that's new and sealed.

I asked the seller if it was from their collection because of how beat up the package is, but they said they found it at Ross, so that explains that.

And I could never find one at retail, the hell.
>>
>>5774235
no prob. carnage is great I have 1 original left and a knock off. the easiest way to tell the knockoff from the orginal is that the bootleg has metalic silver eyes while the original has white pearl.

As for the ross incident it was from a retailer who probably refused to restock the shelf till the whole case as gone and since electro and beetle shelfwarmed sold off a few cases to ross thinking the whole line was a dud.
>>
>>5774239
Nice, I didn't know that about the eyes. How's the quality of the knock off?

For sure, that makes a lot of sense. I wish my local Ross was that lucky. I paid $40 shipped for it, when the seller probably paid around $10-$13.

I don't like paying scalper prices for things, especially at double retail, but it was the cheapest legit Carnage I could find.

So far I have pizza Spidey, Scarlet Spider, Venom, and now a Carnage on the way. I just might grab Ben Reilly.
>>
>>5774251
great start. [kaine scarlet spiderman or sweater]

Bootleg is pretty solid have owned 3 at different times. the tendrils are of stiffer plastic. the most common error is that the leg swivel at the calf can sometimes be misaligned or stuck all together 2/3

the other bootlegs from that series are no bueno except for ultimate goblin who is honestly ok.

carnage was total luck on his end. mine only ever had a spiderwoman as a legend that ended up there randomly.

Ben is solid especially for spider carnage. Id recomend just getting the ones you really like. Ive watched the 90s show and read the comics since I was a kid (mainly ultimate spiderman) so i have a problem of liking to many.

if you want to keep your collection small yours is solid all youd probably want is a green goblin just because hes such a staple and hasbro is bound to release one soon given that hobgoblin came out. otherwise just get a black suit spidy from the next rumored wave
>>
>>5772345
not much left of what Toybiz did on that mold, they already changed it once in 2010 for Warpath and then 2 more times. Its too bad they kept the dumb toe hinges
>>
>>5774261
Thanks, anon. Ben Reilly Scarlet Spider.
Nice, i just might grab a bootleg down the road for the hell of it.

I've never even seen Legends at the ones near me, so when they told me they found Carnage there, I was shocked.

Yeah, the Spider Carnage head looks really cool, plus I can use an extra Spidey head in case I decide to sculpt new eyes for pizza Spidey, so I think I'll pull the trigger. I grew up with that show and read Ultimate Spider-Man for a while, so I feel you on that.

Thanks for the heads up, I'll be grabbing a black suit Spidey and Green Goblin as soon as they're available.

ah my apologies I misinterpreted it as I read it. also keep superior venom with symbiotes. symbiote superior was such a tiny thing in the comic that it makes more sense to stay with the symbiotes than the superior display.

Sadly scorpion is the most disappointing thing to get your hands on. you cant really pose him and hes more of a statue. Id defiantly get doc ock he's perfect in every way possible. only reason I keep scorpion is that there is no alternative sculpt for legends and hes one of my favorite villians.
