I'm curious too but ain't no way he'd be able to hold it, not without help.

By help I mean my own god damn hands
>>
>>5755689

It's probably going to be too big for it to slot into a combiner, if it's sized for FortMax man. You could probably grip it with the PE hands though.
>>
>>5755700
But would those hands be strong enough to hold it, its big and that's a fair bit of weight to that long sword.

I'd assume it'd drop out of any hand unless it had the tightest grip in the world and the arms wouldn't be able to support it, even if they did over time the arms would flop

ThumbsUp.jpg
541 KB, 1384x1208
>>5755706

Well, I'd think the sword could be held by the PE hands, all the ones I own have very tight grips on anything that they can wrap around. The arm ratchets on the combiners themselves are likely solid enough, and I've got my combiner limbs hip balljoints futureshined so they could likely tolerate the weight.
>>
>>5755729
>futureshined

I have actually started doing this to all my combiners before I put them together especially the arm guys. As much as I love them ball joints really suck for thighs and that non ratcheted knees also don't help but what can they do at a price point of $15 and I don't really want to pay $100 for a 3p since I'm not planning to get a mortgage just to get combiners.
>>
>>5755670
I'd say got for it if you can get it cheaper.
The real MPs are not worth anything close to what they ask for and it's a KO anyways.

Question: if there were to be an MP Lio Convoy, how the fuck do you replicate his lion mane on his shoulder? it looks like armor when he's a robot, but it looks like hair when he transforms into a lion.
>>
>>5755740
>The real MPs are not worth anything close to what they ask for
sadly this is true. I'll always say that similarly priced robot toys from other companies are much better deals.

That said, i still dont like KOs. I want these toys to succeed, you know?
>>
>>5755748
Do it like in the picture you just posted.
>>
>>5755748
Maybe all the mane pieces flips around in the 2 modes. One side has hair mold the other side is smooth like metal.
>>
>>5755750
>overpriced and overrated
>I want these toys to succeed, you know?
Why?
>>
>>5755759
because i love transformers and i wanna see them do more characters
>>
>>5755748
Also, the lion face changes from organic looking to robotic looking face. That seems harder to switch within the space allowed. Might have to swap them out.
>>
>>5755763

>>5755748
Probably focus more on his robot mode, like Takara do with MP Primal and Cheetor, so armor mane for lion altmode.
>>
>>5755782
Is the Big Convoy mold worth it? He looks awesome and he's a motherfucking mammoth but he looks kinda fiddly. The Nemesis Prime version would be my preferred version but I hear it's crazy expensive.
>>
>>5755736

I only really needed to futureshine some of my arm guys-Most have held the weight of things put into the arms with no problem. Just some whose ball tolerances were probably a bit off (lol mass produced figures) needed a tightening.
>>
>>5755759

Because if they don't succeed at the prices they're at, they'll just drop MP figures altogether. You see, when a company shits something out at a price, no matter how retarded or unrealistic, if that thing doesn't sell because of the price, they never go "Oh, the price is too high, if we lower it to reasonable levels it will sell.".

No, they go "Oh, it's not selling. Obviously this isn't because it's a crap product or the price is too high, or both, it's because the market for it is obviously dead. Cancel our plans, time to shift focus". Which, sometimes, is the answer, some lines are just played out and dead. But more often than not, they aren't, and the actual issue is price/QC/overall quality, or some combination of the 3, and always the answer isn't to fix any problems, it's to just move on to something else, because fuck you, thats why.
>>
>>5755787
I like it. Its very kibbly, but impressive display. Be careful though. The brown/gold plastic isn't the strongest.
>>
>>5755802
They are luxury items after all.
There's not such a thing as high prices if we were to be honest. Just a lower bang-for-buck ratio.

I would kill for an MP Armada Prime. Question is, how would they do the trailer-legs? I guess they'd have to sacrifice the "base mode" for it, though that never appeared in the anime anyway AFAIK so eh. The cab robot should be a piece of cake to engineer.

If they did do him though I'd want a Nemesis Prime redeco, even if it didn't come with the trailer. An MP Laser Prime followed by a Scourge redeco would be great too.

I'm using the pictured fanmode for the hips and shoulders because it looks nice and he can actually support them quite well, but I'm a little worried it might be putting extra stress on them. The hips particularly basically have the weight of two deluxes and a voyager resting on two pin hinges. Has anyone had him like this for a while and can say if anything got loose?

I'm always sort of baffled by people who want to pay Figma/Figurarts prices for the exact same molds as the US releases. Two or three extra paint apps are not worth double the price.
>>
>>5756389
>double the price
Up until the Yen went nuts this past month or so, we were almost at price parity. Legends Arcee was $20 (vs $17), UW Superion/Menasor was $95 (vs $90), and HLJ had Magnus on sale for $35 (vs $45). And have you seen how TRU is pricing the MPs they hardly get van stick of? Even BBTS looks cheap, especially when you figure you get them 2 years earlier.
>>
>>5756399
>van stick
Any stock, you fucking retarded phone.
>>
>>5756389
Pretty much this>>5756399 and it doesn't help that Takara stared stepping up their game by actually altering things. Some UW releases had entirely new figures added (sure, Groove got released over here, but we didn't even know it would happen, and the same goes for UW Blast-Off), Devastators components got some extra articulation, some Headmasters got anime accurate heads, and Super Ginrai has significant changes compared to PM Optimus Prime.

>>

I was going to pass on them all but I picked a few up on a whim because I wanted the Shark and they're actually a lot of fun. The armor adds a lot of playability to them. Plus several of their armor pieces have 3mm handles so they can be used as weapons by other figures, like the swords on the scorpion's tail.

I still need Dragonus and Slipstream to be able to make the lion guy, but I'm really excited about the upcoming Target Master guys.

Anything that fits between those grippers. Divebomb does but ratbat doesn't. Disc minicons, you can rest them vertically on the lower jaw. The jaw is flexible enough to accommodate many random objects. Maybe even bakugan would work.

He has quite a powerful spring. There's an additional safety switch on the bottom like those b-daman toys.

Shame about the crown not being molded to fit flush enough against the head. Still, it's easily kept inside the chest so hopefully a 3P will crap out a crown that just slides over the headmaster, or just shits out an entirely new head you can just plug in.

Rest of the figure looks decent enough.

The foc version is guilty to an extent due to lack of chest plate thus missing that color set.

Which didn't have the symbol on the g1 toy, only the individual members did (which the cw version fucked up as well).

Really none of the newer ones do it right, the foc had engineering issues and lack of the chest plate homage which the cw fucked up the symbols, just not doing the faction symbol on the chest would of at least been accurate

I'm not autistic so I don't really care if it 100% matches the source as long as it's a reasonable take on things.

>Why do you want decals of a water slide?

Gah, should of expected this kinda response.

Ok, I build models in my spare time, waterslide decals are basically water activated, they slide off from their backing, onto their chosen placement, allowing perfect placement (as you can move them around until the water is gone) and seemless surface adhesion (stickers always pop, these just blend in).

That and a topcoat of clear paint prevents flake off, stickers come off even with a topcoat (though it can help until all of the adhesive backing is gone).

Infact just generic g2 symbols of any size and scale would be awesome, some more gundam homages with g2 symbols would work well when used correctly.

I wouldn't want rub transfers either as like temp tattoos they come off on touch all too easily

I mean shit it wouldn't hurt for water slides, some noob builders don't even bother with topcoats and just go straight for water to plastic and still looks better than stickers.

I guess it won't happen, but I can dream like the autist I am

>>

Why get it right for the previous two and then fuck it up for bruticus? if they planned on selling a correct version in the future then why not make the same mistake for the previous two, in order to sell "correct" versions of them?
>>
>>5756831
A smooth glossy surface works best, so topcoat of gloss FIRST, then decal, THEN another to seal it in, for safe results semi gloss or another full gloss for the final coat.

Only a retard uses rough matte textures first, can get away with no topcoats at all but longevity is crippled both in adhesion and preservation

The inhuman Lanky Kong proportions with a tiny pinhead certainly doesn't help, and the heads are well known to be awful.
>>
>>5756940
So your issue is proportions? Ah. Again that plays into stylisation, it's based on idw Brainstorm so what do you expect? he's gangly. I think the head's the right size. I have no doubt we'll get those eventually. The groundwork for combiners is there now, as well as proof that they will sell. CW/UW was a very ambitious line considering it crammed nearly all the g1 vehicle combiners in a year, plus some new additions, and repaints.
>>
>>5757266
I really hope we get them and the remaining headmasters in futher generations lines.
>>
>>5757228

The only real complaint of the line was the repaints. Which were a necessity due to budget, and honestly, if you're just sticking with pure G1 combiners, isn't that bad. Between Menasor, Defensor, Superion, and Bruticus, you end up with 2 of most molds, which is hardly that bad. Even less, if you throw in UW Groove and UW Bruticus. Computron fucks up the ratios more if you're going with the CW though. It all depends on your "loadout" so to speak.

Still, CW was honestly the best line in 10+ years. You'd be retarded to say otherwise. We got fantastic updates of old as shit characters who haven't had a good toy EVER. We got them for good prices, and they perform their jobs well. On top of that, theres good 3P support for them in terms of extra customization options to boot.

AND we're getting G2 recolors of most/all of them.
