I noticed this too when I picked him up and compared it to the reviews on youtube, which most were posted three months ago. I also noticed that the translucent orange seems a little paler, the gold arm armor was a different shade of gold and the blood splatter on said armor had a more orange tint to it. No idea why they chose that type of gold for the arm armor, unless it had to do with it being a softer plastic because the gold paint they used for the sandals/boots is much nicer.
Other than those few minor coloring nitpicks, it's a fantastic figure. I would've liked some updated flame effects for the swords though.

The blades appear more translucent and paler in comparison because the dark orange effect around the edges of the blades is no longer present...
I was able to directly compare them last night. The gold on the new one was the same with only the dark wash that was applied being a little lighter, thus making the gold appear "brighter"

I thought Hot Toy's fantasy tiddies armor was blatant pandering to virgin fuccbois and way out of character for Machiko. She was an intense, calm, and no-nonsense warrior. I think she'd be much more given to a more intelligent armor design that would help protect from the bugs' acidic blood, like this pic. Not to mention, she's supposed to be rather short and petite, but the Hot Toys version is some leggy caucasian goddess. This isn't entirely Hot Toys' fault, for some reason many artists drew her this way too, disregarding the original source material.

Ideally a background effect part can easily simulate his Ultimate and the orbs floating around him, while translucent arms as detachable parts could also work. But since it's NECA we're talking about I can see how they might have a hard time doing something like that.

And then not only that, the only way we'll actually get the most iconic version of Ash, is if enough people buy this first one. But if the line is meant to be able to have one definitive version of a figure, why do I have to by 2? Why not just make the one people actually wanted in the first place?
Don't answer that, I know why, NECA's a business, they gotta make money. I understand, but how many toy collectors/casuals are going to spend $25 to support another figure that might be made. How many people realize thats the situation it is? We do, their twitter followers do, but it's not like 100% of us and them are going to buy it.
It all just seems super flawed and a bad choice in general. I was going to buy both versions anyway, I'm just saying it's perfectly reasonable to be annoyed with NECA's choice.
