He's honestly a pretty cool little figure. I originally did get him just as you said, but the shit eating grin and somewhat cool for a Legends figure transformation where his back just sort of hinges out and makes him balloon up into a little truck is fun.
I'm actually thinking of maybe even getting the 3P version of him if it has a similar shit eating grin. Only thing I wish he had was thigh swivels, same as the Legends Seekers. Only thing keeping a good Legends from being a great one.

There's a few mods you can do to give him a cleaner backpack. That "tailbone" piece for example can be cut up and placed on spots on the feet (where they plug in in altmode).
Cutting some of the clear plastic of the windshield that attaches onto the roof also frees up the rivet there to work like some sorta swivel to further collapse the backpack.

I have never like headmasters as a gimmick it always seemed like a downgrade from combiners in general.
The head doesn't have an alt mode it's just a Polly pocket level figure that turns into the robots head.
Hell these new ones are even worse. They don't even hide the face on their back like the old 87 ones. They just always have a big face hanging off their back.

I've seen some comments that people here didn't like Groove that much? I know most people find combiner wars figures simple since they had to fit in a combination port, but I found Groove to be a pretty good figure compared to many of the deluxe figures they already released.
The only fault I found was getting the split wheel to combine, but other than that, It's fantastic.

That's pretty much it. Vehicle mode doesn't really fit with the aesthetics of the rest of the line (a bit like how the Beast Wars Neo figures have a distinct Japanese style compared to the western Beast Wars toys), but whether or not that bothers you is subjective.
The motorcycle standing up without external support is a big bonus, and he looks like G1 Groove in both modes. I must say he looks a little out of place on Hasbro Defensor in my opinion though. While I can't pinpoint exactly what it is, it comes back to having a distinct aesthetic that singles him out from his western crew. Maybe it's just me.
Either way the point is I like him.

Razorbeast is solid. He's a shellformer but he manages to overcome his handicap. Plus he has a brain-gun.

Hercules, if you have your cw combiners with their add on feet they're almost the same height.

Hercules members are all voyager-ish, so Herc ends up being slightly bigger than CW (which works when you think about him being made of 6 versus 5 guys).
Giant is made of deluxe-ish guys and thus hits the CW size more closely when combined.
Ultimately, it's up to personal preference. I happen to have Hercules and I'm fine with Devastator being bigger than most.
