Am I the only one who could never find a normal version of a Batman figure? It must have been a Kenner thing, I never seen regular Ghostbusters figures, everything was a variant.
>>5723769
>Am I the only one
No you are not
Drove me fucking mad as a kid
>>5723769
Speak for yourself, Lazer Batman was dope as fuck.
>>5723769
Deep Dive Batman was great
I didn't have this problem, did you not get any of the Batman figures that came out for the first movie?
>>5723769
I only had three, but they were all from the first movie line, I think. I had the regular one, also a blue one that came with a zip line, and of course, the glorious, golden hero Gotham deserves, Tec Shield Batman.
Same. My main was the gray Batman with the Dish thinguie. It was the only one I had actually.
There were always normal ones peppered in.
I wonder if those were more sought after by collectors at the time, making the variants the ones that were more common. Or maybe it was a matter of the wacky shit being packed more heavily.
As someone who collected the gundam action figure line I can tell you it drove me nuts to finish my collection.
>>5723954
Oh fuck remember this one. Super fun.
Variants aren't always so bad, aside from settling from just one. If i could, I'd buy a bunch of Batman Unlimited stuff...if they bothered to give better articulation. such a waste
>>5724019
I have most of the villians from that line, ots super fun to make batman fight them all in one gigantic battle.
>>5723769
All the default regular ass versions are in Wave 1 and then never to be seen again. You know I had always attributed this shit to Batman 89, but you're right it was The Real Ghostbusters that started it. When I was a kid I had to get the original Ghostbusters figures at a fleamarket because they were long gone from shelves.
Ninja Turtles I swear always had the originals in stock.
>>5723769
>>5723805
my kid self thought why would batman wear bright colors
drove me mad as hell
>>5724425
I had a friend who would cut the ears off and scrape the batman symbol off the chest and pretend they were no name villains, which added so much playability holy shit
>>5724435
Damn he sound like he actually had fun.
My autism would not have let me do that plus I was a poorfag and could not afford to buy batmen to make villains.
>>5723954
The funny thing is that that's technically not a normal one since it's a movie suit, but done in comic colors. But it still looks like a proper Batman anyway so it might as well be. I wonder if other kids where confused as to why the movie suits weren't grey like the comics/cartoons. I actually considered Adam west to be the best Batman as a kid because his suit looked like how it "should".
All of these faggots that never got this guy
>ITT: Multi-colored Batman variants.
>Nobody has posted this requisite comic.
/toy/, I am disappoint.
I had a ton of Batman figures ever since I was 2 or 3. Batman was one of the first things I loved and BTAS was just starting up a few months after I was born. My early childhood room had a bunch of Batman variants clinging to a long lace my mom pinned from one corner to another, and I'd store them like that. But I didn't have many other characters or a regular Batman. I had a BTAS Robin, a Mr. Freeze, and a Catwoman. Then a movie Riddler and Two-Face. I never cared about the Joker.
My only regular Batmen where a giant, 15''+ tall Batman with light-up eyes, a MoTP Retro Batman, and later,a Total Justice batman which became my favorite. Retro Batman stands out in sort of looking like an early version of the TNBA animation design. At the time I kinda resented it because the day I bought it, I couldn't get the Dragonzord and had to settle for it, but now I find it to be one of the cooler BTAS toys.
>>5724562
>>5724564
because no one here likes Jin's boyfriend at all, that goes for his "drawn by someone with less skill than an infant" comic..
>>5723769
I had the white batman, shit was amazing.
>>5724562
that was my first toy ever
:(
>>5723769
I had all those Batman figures. I played with the white and yellow ones in the tub. It was awesome.
I'm TOTALLY bummed out that my bitch cousin stole all my childhood toys while I was in college and had them stored at my grandma's place while I was out of state.
She took everything and gave them to her kids, including my marvel legends collection and such. She's never admitted to it.
>>5724562
Fucking scalpers man!! I got some shit neon green one instead with kbtoys clearence stickers plastered all over the card
>>5724578
Loved this figure, still love brown leather utility belt to this day.
>>5724562
This was the only thing I needed when I was a kid.
Fuck you
Yo!
#1
#2
>>5724564
Because i didnt think they made webcomics on toys and shit. its not like bioshock or overwatch where basically everyone would get and laugh at.
>>5723954
I've read that the Batman Animated stuff was heavily scalped or collected by adults. I loved that show but I was only 12 when it hit so I couldn't drive around looking for the toys.
>>5727086
I think people would at least be aware of the batman gimmick toys in general. They have never stopped being released.
>>5727264
Animated Series toys were right in the era where toy value guides and all were pretty big so I guess that makes sense. Even Wizard magazine had some of that before Toyfare started up, didn't it? I know they covered upcoming toys and all to some degree.
I had this fucker and the batwing
This Supes was my jam
Had this one myself and was happy with it.
In fact I just rebought it and can't decide to open it or leave it MOC
>>5727537
I had it too when I was in third grade. It was a gift from a girl as secret santa.
I don't know why but I was fixated more with the stupid radio(why was there a radio though?) because it made some sounds when you moved a gear on the side, than the figure and fucking batman costume. I was a bit stupid I guess.
>>5727281
They did, they had price guides in their mags
>>5727832
>liking girls in 3rd grade
I'm not a faggot, dude.
I remember the figure was kind of goofy looking when using the costume, that's probably why I didn't appreciate it back then. I think this looks better MoC
>>5727537
Mah nigga.
I did promptly lose all the Batman equipment and he eventually turned into one of my first customization projects. I was going to turn him into Azrael but it didn't turn out well.
>>5727835
Haven't looked at an issue in years but even then I thought it was a pretty poor price guide that missed an awful lot of lines.
>>5727891
Yeah, I mainly used them to just keep up with the toy lines and their releases
>>5727919
I loved Twisted Mego Theatre. When they started putting those out as standalone books, I dumped the magazine.
>>5728075
Dude, those were great strips. I need to find them now, someone has to have put together the collection in a PDF
>>5723954
>>5727436
>>5727537
My brother and I had these and Anti-freeze Batman. The secret identity figures were great.
>>5723851
Some time later I got this Batman in a special anniversary two pack or something with Returns Catwoman in TRU. Had to have been late 90's, though it wasn't with the Batman Returns line. Villains were almost impossible to find in the animated series or Returns series, probably because of scalper scum. You had to hope you still had the old villains from the 89 movie or DC Superheroes line intact.
>>5727436
I had that one too and later I got this.
>>5729045
Oh god this was my Batman toy growing up. I pretty much lost everything but the handcuffs.
>>5729011
I loved this so much I wanna rebuy it.
>>5729157
I had the Batman Forever version.
>>5729261
Damn it nostalgia hitting hard must not buy.
Turbojet Batman is too good for this world
>>5729157
I had this
I had this and it was awesome
>>5729157
>>5729261
>>5729456
Playsets are my fucking soft spot. This shit was my childhood, even if I never had any of the batcaves I would stare at them in the Kenner toy catalogs for hours. Now you assholes have me wanting to go out there and buy them on eBay. Shit, I got into miniature gaming because I like playsets, made a bunch of terrain and shit for warhammer 40k and warhammer fantasy and then never really play the game. Playsets need to come back asap.
This was my go-to Robin as a kid.
>>5729493
GOAT Batmobile.
I had the animated version. Cool but not as cool as that one.
What others have said; with Batman, your only hope for a "normal" Batman, Robin, etc was always to buy the first wave of the series as they almost always were the only wave with normal Batman figures.
Ironically Toy Biz never had this problem as they always made sure that they had plenty of normal Spideys and Wolverines in their lines.
>>5727436
Aw, yeah. I ended up with two of these guys because I wondered what the regular belt beneath looked like and cut off the bat rope, then the second one's rope just frayed and broke on its own over time. I loved those guys and the Bruce Wayne with snap-on Batman costume in >>5727537, though I could almost swear mine had a hard plastic semi circle belt that held itself in place around the waste and not that snap belt shown here.
>>5729261
>>5729157
Not going to post the Batman Returns one that predated those with only minor differences? That thing was my Batcave, Xavier Institute, and sometimes Ninja Turtle lair all in one. We had this rocky outcropping that looked like a miniature version of Pride Rock from Lion King that I'd climb up all three feet of it and set this bad boy up before enjoying hours of fun with my favorite toys.
>>5727086
eh, it's not best strip ever but at least it's a fucking joke
This was the closest to a regular TAS Batman I ever saw on the pegs and it made my 11 year old self pretty fucking happy to have. That flip down Bat-helm still makes me happy.
>>5729547
>Playsets need to come back asap.
They are still here. Imaginext do some pretty awesome playsets.
>>5732987
While I have a lot of respect for the Imaginext line it's a little too brightly colored and kiddie for me.
>>5724562
>crime attack batman
>not just "regular batman" batman
Apparently I was a spoiled child
I had all the figures in this thread and both bat caves
To be fair half were my brothers
>>5723769
i'm there with you, Op, never had a regular Batman untill a long time after Returns and just recently i've discovered that the one i had went missing...
>>5732971
I wonder with the new BTAS line if they'll actually make a batcave. They seem to be pushing the boundaries with the vehicle releases. That new batwing is huge.
>>5729581
my go to robin was a second batman
