I understand that any profits from X-Men movie toys will go almost entirely to Fox, and this is why there isn't any made, but does the same go for non-movie toys? I'm sure not-movie X-Men toys would still sell, but I guess maybe that's still advertising a movie series they aren't making money off of.

Nope. Comic based X toys make money for Disney.

But the mouse has decided that taking back the franchise is way more valuable than some measly toy profits. That's why they're throttling X licensing in general.

Only exception is Hasbro and their Marvel stuff.

Isn't that also why Fant4stic barely got any form of promotional tie in outside of a Denny's tie in?

No, they just get a cut. Marvel would rather Fox take Marvel's box office cut in exchange for Fox's cut of movie merchandise, though.

>but does the same go for non-movie toys?

No, which is why all the toy merchandise you're seeing for X-Men is comic book related. For a while last year or before, Marvel ordered licensors to put a hold on any comic X-Men toys and statues (except for Deadpool), probably as an intimidation tactic. But I guess after Fant4stic flopped and Marvel and Fox negotiated so that Fox could go ahead with their shows, Marvel allowed X-Men Heroclix and Marvel Legends. They're still not allowing Fox X-Men film merchandise though (Funko said they're not doing any X-Men Apocalypse Pops for instance, but are doing more comic X-Men Pops).

Yep. Fox is allowed to do promotional material, which is why there was Denny's and Happy Meal Toys in KFC Mexico.

Anyone know how Minimates gets around this? They've done X-Men Movie figures in the last couple of years.

Don't know. I know they've been making them since X3, but they didn't do one for Apocalypse so it's assumed Marvel has control over them. Sometimes a few things are allowed, like the Hugh Jackman Wolverine figure from Hot Toys.
