Doesn't seem that random. They're clearly making stuff from the various comics.

No, but this design mirrors his look in the comics / the generations toy. It not as close to the Victory/G1 toy look.

Sort of. He was a Phase Sixer (aka: super modified 'bot capable of handing most anyone their ass, their usual duties are exterminating whole planets worth of resistance) who got his shit kicked in to show how evil the DJD (squad made to hunt down Decepticon dissenters, with all sorts of shit to help them take down a rogue Phase Sixer) are.

Overlord's a Phase Sixer, so was Black Shadow, and so is Sixshot.
>>

See I don't know how well this will do at 3rd party prices. Would I pay $30-$40 in a store, sure, but $100-$150, no way.

Can anyone recommend me to 3P figures that scale with the current CHUG line by HasTak? I don't follow 3P stuff but I'm interested to see what they have
>>
>>5712907

Finally a 3rd party figure, I might give a shit about.
>>
>>5713314
Masterpiece is kinda the popular scale at the moment, but you can find plenty in CHUG, particularly if you don't need perfect scale. Generally, most combiners are CHUG-ish scale, give or take. Outside of that, Function X works decent although it has a bit of a different aesthetic. MMC's Reformatted line includes a lot of (mostly comics-inspired) CHUG-scale dudes. Planet X makes Cybertronian stuff at CHUG scale that's good. Plus there's all the upgrade kits for CHUG stuff.

Maketoys Combiners scale well. Quantron and their Not-Defensor both look great with them.
>>
>>5713314

Scale is pretty difficult to attain in TF, but I *think* most combiners are around the height of the CW/UW combiners, so they're about in scale with those.
>>
what was the first 3rd party figure that was like an actual entire figure

was it TFC's Roller?
>>
>>5713024
Phase sixers and DJD don't stack up to shit now. 6 super tough dudes can easily beat a phase sixer.
the super tough dudes leader can go toe to toe with a phase sixer.
5 super tough dudes and an army of decepticons can't take out a bunch of C-list autobots and an umbrella.
>>
>>5713445
TFC Rollar was what, 2008? I think that's close.
>>
>>5712796
If Iron Factory ever made Beast Wars/II/neo figures in that scale I would buy them all.

A tiny big convoy would make my day.
>>
>>5713449

Well, thats just a fault of the comics. Happens in any comic: Whoever is the main character has plot armor out the ass and everyone else can suck it, unless it's specifically "OH NO THE MAIN CHARACTER DIES" plot line.

The older comics still did it pretty well. Sixshot kicked the piss out of everyone he ever fought, up until Metroplex powerstomped his ass, and even that didn't kill him.

Currently though, we saw Overlord literally t-bag Tarn, and Overlord isn't even as strong as he used to be since he's been rebuilt twice now, and with not as good materials as before.

Thanks! I'm not really interested in combiners, but is there a nice Voyager sized Megatron/Optimus/other 3P out there?
>>
>>5713559

Theres a KO Voyager sized MP-10 out there, dunno about the quality of it though.

Most(?) of the MMC stuff is Voyager sized, except Hexatron who's Leader-ish sized.
>>
>>5713559

There's an okay Voyager size Megatron from ToyWorld. It was their first figure so it's not amazing but it's not bad.

They have a Voyager-ish Optimus too but it's an ugly piece of shit utterly failed attempt to replicate the IDW design
>>
>>5713327
Would you happen to know if Quantron scales well with FP's A3, C3, and M3 combiners?
>>
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7QdIguw0uNs

Iron Factory Dynobots got a review. Thank you based TCP

>>5713559

There's Toyworld's Megs and Prime, but they aren't that great.

Planet X has a larger FOC Prime coming out. Second Chance has retooled and possibly KO'd FOC's deluxe Prime's mold at voyager scale. Megs has Grandville but I think he's deluxe and not that great either.

>>5713576
M3 and Maketoys combiners are pretty much the same height. So Quantron, Guardia, and M3 are perfect together. The aerialbot kit and the Colossus kit are noticeably smaller. There's another kit that makes Colossus bigger but then you have to add more stuff to him.

What the hell is with TFSource? I've had an order paid for, all items in stock for 3 days (they aren't like super sought after items either) and they still have not shipped. I've had the $200ish gone from my bank since the day they were ordered.

So much for that Same day shipping bull.

I'm only going to order from BBTS from now on. This is dumb.
>>
>>5714020
>>5714026
Hes the only 3rd party transformer I have but my god I love him. Articulation is about what you would expect from a big blocky robot but throw some fire effects on him and he looks really good.
>>
>>5714020

I'd say no, I sold mine a year or two back. He has several gimmicks forced in that really shouldn't have been there, and a few spots where the quality control felt iffy, I.E. screws moving when certain parts are moved, loose joints, etc. I'd say just wait on a better toy, or just skip it since the character doesn't really matter anymore.

>>
>>5714113
>Scale collection

Dude. Don't scale your collection. Rookie mistake. Collect what you like from whatever scale and then just display individual scales if you need too. Also Chug Combiners with Legends scale figures of non-combiners look awesome together. Makes the combiners look so much more menacing.
>>
>>5714125
I don't worry I've given up on having uniform scale in my collection, but I don't think my wallet can stomach more abuse from $400+ combiner teams. I see what you're saying though, and I do agree it would be pretty cool.

They've been getting all my business this year.
>>
>>5714133
>>5714136

He did say he didn't have instructions several times, so not surprised he missed some stuff.

They look good, but my disappointment for them not being dinosaurs is maximum. Now we'll never get good Legends Dinobots.
>>
>>5714158
Sorry for your loss, honestly I wouldn't have minded dinosaurs. That said, it's been mentioned that they are keeping within Cybertronian design, so their choice makes sense. Many of us love it, many of us hate it. Isn't that just the way the 3P ride goes though?
>>
>>5713620
Wait, M3 is bigger than C3? Damn, I'm in for a show. I have A3 and C3, and 2/5ths of M3, and I thought C3 was big. Either way, cool. I like the idea of the combiners being of differing heights.
>>
>>5714187

But they went with IDW for Onslaught and Magnus.

And I guess the old anime for their upcoming Optimus?

And IDW again for Scorponok.

And no style at all for Windblade, she was done in a generic kawaii uguu style (and I'm still kicking myself for not getting her).

They just jump all over the place in terms of style, but most of their stuff seems to be IDW-ized.

121 KB, 1004x380
>>5714189

Well they are a bit different in height by canon anyway.
>>
>>5714196

Their Optimus is IDW too, it's his design from Stormbringer. They just added God Ginrai armor cause it's cool.

All of their characters are based on an IDW incarnation except Blitzwing (unless I just don't recognize it/am not thinking of it) and to a certain extent Soundwave and Perceptor but they're just repaints of Blaster, who was definitely an IDW design.

They just decided to go all the way back to War Within for the Dinbots probably just cause WW Grimlock is so well-liked as a Cybertronian Grimlock design.

But still at that point everything is still 100% Cybertronian and 100% based on comics, they just have this one set that's from something that predates IDW.
>>
>>5714208
That's true. I suppose realistically we could talk up and down about it but they will do what they want =\
>>
>>5714196

Also you can still get Windblade on eBay for a normal price. I just got one it was only like $20.
>>
>>5714031
I was bitching about this in another thread: When I first ordered from TFSource about 1-2 years ago, if I ordered on a Wednesday, I got it by Friday/Saturday. Now? With my last three orders, one got sent FedEx ground for some reason which took a week. Second order took 3 days to ship, then again got sent FedEx ground when I asked for "expedited". Next order shipped out same day, but yet again got shipped... You guessed it, FedEx ground. Which seems to be travelling at 1-2 states a day from Nevada to New York, and now it's been in Jersey for the past 32 hours.

Ironically, the shittier, crappily maintained ToyArena STILL manages to get me my stuff within 3-4 days priority mail when I ask for it

>>
>>5713486
We don't know who rebuilt Overlord the second time around, for all we know he could have been built stronger.
>>
>>5715119

True. But we do know he was rebuilt weaker before, and he hasn't made any comments as to being back to his old power level, and comics usually make a note to go "AH JUST LIKE OLD TIMES AGAIN" (or whatever) when a de-powered character regains his strength. Thats all just supposition however.

We did see him pretty effortlessly shitcan Tarn though.

And speaking of Tarn, MMC Tarn get a release date? And how good is IF with release dates? I see their Optimus is listed as "July" on some sites, have they said when he's supposed to be out or is this just a dealer making shit up?
>>
>>5715134
For IF, the release dates are tentative, usually they get delayed about a month.
>>
>>5715286
At least they're better than MMC who should really just change the release dates on all their stuff to whenever it arrives.
>>
>>5714031
I don't give a shit how big of a shill I sound like if you're buying 3P anywhere besides The Chosen Prime you're doing it wrong.
>>
>>5715134
>And speaking of Tarn, MMC Tarn get a release date?
I was lucky enough to get to talk to an MMC rep at one of the cons where the prototype Carnifex and Kultur were shown and they said Overlord was mostly ready to go (hence his preorders becoming available) but that Tarn was still being fiddled with because of some tolerance issues? I don't know if that means anything about his design will change (like the crap hands) or if it's strictly related to joint and design tolerances.
>>
>>5715415
I bet they change the hands since they're pretty universally disliked. Even by the dude that does all their transformation instruction videos on youtube.

A bubble is when asset prices surge to levels significantly above the fundamental value of that asset, and that is not the case here. Until takara starts pumping out more than one MP a year and making chugs with shitty articulation, hallow parts, and missing paint apps, the 3rd party companies will continue to fill the gap.
>>
>>5716510
>Implying they are not overcharging based on production costs to a shrinking market
>>
>>5716503
Not even close. They'll make MP from other series. You'll keep getting the eventual hole filler here and there for the recent official lines but most of the production will stay MP.
>>
>>5716515
>overcharging
It's a 3rd party products, it's not mass produced. They don't have the economy of scale that hasbro or bandia does. Plain and simple.

>shrinking market
LOL, yeah right. Transformers have more fans now than they did in the 80s.

>>

Adjustable book shelves, personally. Easy to fit anything on there, though something Devy-sized would be stretching it. I just have mine set for 2 spots big enough for combiners, and the rest for Voyagers or below. The Leader sized guys hang out with my combiners.

the shelves warp with even medium weight on them. They can't even handle a row of paperbacks without some downward bend. Bare minimum you'd have to go to Lowe's and get 3 replacement boards.

It does what it set out to do.

The face plates, gun and the back legs fill ins are a nice touch, but kinda pointlessly inflated the price. The arms work great to a point. The old guns still do not lock into the hands but the hands have a much better hold now.
For the feet, if you keep off the feet plates, you can tab in the red back doors by slight of force. Be warn, you can't take off the feet plates once they are in.
The new feet work, and it does not work. The figure can now stand flat on the ground, but the old feet preventing any backward tilting movement. The huge gap between click on the hips still making it hard to pose.
Most the problem stemmed from UM is a very flawed figure.
If you are willing to cut stuff, you can make the figure a lot better with the add on by doing something with the old feet without destroying the truck mode.

And truck mode 1.
It looks like a garbage truck. But if you want to put a deluxe figure in it. I think this has to do as the mode 2 with the feet inside the trailer there is not enough space for a car.
And yes, consider the total is almost near MP UM price, unless you are not getting the MP don't bother getting this add on, unless you have a lot money lying around.

Overall, I would say I would not have that little bit of buyer's remorse if the red panels close properly and the feet plate is removable.

Because they look and feel better than just plain plastic in the short term, and anyone who cares about their condition in the long term isn't going to do anything with them besides keep them in a case, assuming they even take them out of the package in the first place.

And some diecast can be good and useful if used correctly. My favorite instance of it in third party is in FansProject Assaulter. His feet and parts of his legs are metal. Paddles has never been female in fiction (what little he's had) although I'm not even sure if he was referred to using any pronouns, so who knows really.. There was a bit of confusion when someone listed this toy under some sort of "goddess of the sea" title or something like that a few months back, but that wasn't what the toy was ultimately called and you can consider him male for all intents and purposes. Although, no one is stopping you from having paddles as a buff mermaid waifu, the mold is ambiguous enough.

As for an actual female dinobot, Fansproject has one in the pipleline that either turns into a raptor or some sort of pachycephalosaurus.
