Probably because Combiner wars has only lasted a little over a year so far, and Hasbro/Takara has things like budget, retailers, and so on to deal with. Guys like MMC and TFC can just do a set of combiners and a handful of other figures a year, while Hasbro and Takara are making a ton of figures for a variety of audiences from 4 year olds to 44 year olds. Transformers:Giant slayers
basically an attempt to do an "in-scale" TF line. Autobots mainly being cars and in tinier scales(Legends/Scouts and maybe a few deluxes) with Decepticons being larger military vehicles with a handful of smaller figures, mainly occupying voyager/ultra/ and leader scales.
Autobots would have to rely on combiners and power armor(disguised as other vehicle things like trailers, towed cars, etc.; maybe even smaller architecture like gas stations or garages) to size up. The Prime(maybe not Optimus; I'd like for the characters to mostly be new but familiar archetypes. or maybe obscure characters) would have a supermode to look the bad-guy leader face to face. Lots of base playsets, too, that provide extra weapons and armor and disguise themselves as mundane places. The centerpiece, and most expensive autobot toy, would be a citybot with a train/subway system gimmick. The second priciest autobots would be a train combiner(like raiden/Rail racer) which would still only be deluxes or smaller voyagers(like megas) at best
Beast bots would factor in as tiny scouts, like the Legends target masters, or micromasters/minicons. Things like canines, birds, and zoo creatures; leading up to a "zoo" playset that serves as a base for these. And a beast combiner that combines to reach scout/deluxe size. Stylewise they'd be biomechanical(like Cybertron or some of the BW Transmetals), but fiction would handwave it as having hologram disguises that look like real beasts. Dinobots would be an animatronic dinosaur exhibit.

Decepticons would focus on size and weapon gimmicks. There's a limited number of them but it's emphasized that it takes a ton of Autobots to take one down. They're heavily armored with lots of addable and also hidden weaponry. The main 'Con leader is smaller, turns into a tank, but can combine with a Cybertronian weapons system for a super mode that makes him more leader sized. there might be a gimmick where a piece can be removed to disable them(maybe a spark, a transformation cog, or even the entire head). Depending on how non obtrusive this could be, it may do things like turn the eyes black, make limbs pop off, or even make the figure fall in some way(i.e., spinal piece is taken out and the figure topples over). If it gets int he way too much, I'd nix it, though.
'Cons would have their own smaller members, mainly as infiltration. this is where rubbings factor in as a gimmick. Later on, we'd also see deception combiners as well, many to counter the autobot base bot.

I was actually thinking of working in pilots as pretender-type Decepticon agents. Being military vehicles, the Decepticons need infiltrators to stay in disguise andhide their movements. So pilot figures would either be separate characters(like Frenzy in TF07), or Japanese headmaster style mini-versions of cons.
On the Autobots, having pilots may be harder at the scale, but it'd be cool to do. Similarly, I'd like to have a few Autobot defectors that remain small, but pilot large Decepticon bodies.

I don't think Transformers should look a certain way. I got into Transformers through beast Wars, also had Machine wars, stayed on through Beast Machines, then RiD, Armada, and so on. All those series had drastically different looks.
So ROTF rampage may not look much like a typical G1 Transformer, but neither does BW rampage, but I don't think that means either aren't Transformers. even in G1, which early on was made up of different lines, you have guys like Skylynx or Omega Supreme or Shockwave which don't really match the aesthetics of the diaclone/Microman guys.

If you fold his legs like have in the picture, then you'll notice MM's thigh swivel (which would help to position Menasor's legs) are blocked by a little triangle of plastic on the gray lower legs. I just trimmed and sanded down the offending bits of plastic so his legs can freely rotate outward in combined mode.

I picked up Legion Fixit on a whim because I love drills and he was on clearance. He's fucking neat. I don't watch RID so I don't know what his altmode is but I fucking love it.
Apparently in this mode he can be wielded like a big drill fist? I couldn't get any of the RID Autobot Warriors I have (Drift, Grimlock, Strongarm) to hold onto him. On the subject of Menasor and weapons, I took the turret accessory from an old G2 Brawl, split it into two guns and gave them handles so they can be used as a pair of weapons. The color of the plastic is a near perfect match too, so now he is the most heavily armed member of my Stunticons.

Revoltech makes some great stuff now though. They had a rough start, but once they swapped to the newer joints a few years ago, it all started being better than most other companies offerings.
So I went to a little comic con in my town today. It was kind of a bust in the TF department. Few shitty condition g1s and some bayformers. But I got Movie '07 Voyager Ironhide and Starscream together for $30 and I'm pretty satisfied with them. That was pretty much it for good tfs, though.

The QB line was pretty good. They did re-releases of some of the ones that had the older shit joints, with the newer good ones.
They've done some of the best MGS and Marvel figs as of late too. Their Ultron kicks the shit out of other companies, and their Venom Snake and Raiden do too.

They were actually suggested to me by these generals a few months back, so I figure I'd pass it along. They're not bad as long as they're not being scalped, you can get a pack of'em (they come with 3 stands per pack) for like $12-17 usually.
You might need 2 stands for larger figures though, like Voyagers. I wouldn't use'em on anything bigger though.
