The new series are what's keeping me interested now. I have a feeling Tokyo Ghoul will be the next mainline series for Medicos since we have 3 so far with 2 in development. Not sure if Toyohisa from Drifters will be a one-off like Parastye and Aijin.
Of course we have Baoh to anticipate.
The only JJBA related stuff I see coming is either reissues or a Josuke recolor in order to follow after Jotaro 3rd's footsteps. Maybe a surprise recolor of another Part 4 character (inb4 the anon who wants anime color Koichi.) Also the new Rohan sculpt.
Though my highest anticipation is the possibility of new engineering in articulation for future non-JoJo figures.

Medicos knows full well they have Gyro and Johnny as the next debut figures for them and after last WF sort of falling flat on a prototype reveal we have a chance to see that either later in 2016 or early 2017. We have a text announcement which means they are in some development phase.
I'm just anticipating the colored pictures and if Medicos will do a good choice or pick something a bit garish for a 1st release. King Crimson 3rd already sets a fear in my mind they would adjust certain colors that isn't 100% to the original artwork. Not unless that was an odd case of doing a blue figure to compliment Killer Queen and The World.
I just want them mess around with new IP's that don't have a lot of figures.

Going by the outfit choice it's probably focused around what happened in that chapter with Josuke. Medicos does some nice but also really odd accessory choices (absolute "worst" being Pucci's hat for one very small period of time)
The extra head is always a thing so don't worry on that. It's usually a matter of how interesting of an expression the alt head is. If anything side characters get some decent ones that isn't always the typical neutral and screaming face.

So I've been reading through JoJo parts like crazy lately and these look pretty tempting these days.
Pretty generic questions but how good are the figures and what can I expect to spend on one?

They're solid figures typically (avoid figures like Black Dio due to poor QC, and 1st release old Joseph due to hip design). The part 3 releases, excluding the Stands, are pretty weak in terms of proportion and size nowadays.
As how much you can spend, that depends on what you want. I'd say the average like 3000-3500y nowadays, especially if you count secondhand figures.
The most desired/rarer figures go for more of course, and the most expensive tends to be the desired and WF exclusive figures (eg. Joseph Joestar second, Giorno second, KQ third..)

3-4k yen seems like a average good estimate, though there are outliers since we're mostly buying on the aftermarket.
Prices can vary for each figure, so if you know which SAS figures you're interested in, you might want to focus on those and do a little research on their usual costs.
So I finally got my first SAS and had some quick questions.
Is Jolyne's cape/cape supposed to curl over her leg? Is there a way to straighten it out a bit if it isn't supposed to be like that? I tried putting a small bit of pressure but obviously it doesn't work.

For Juuzou, it's a huge scythe, two knives and a special hand with multiple knives in it. Then you have the typical accessories like an extra head and regular swappable hands. Also, as far as I'm aware, his jacket is full of knives. They might not be usable, but they're there, which is probably quite a hassle.
Tsukiyama comes with less and also costs less, although I'd say that Tsukiyama doesn't really come with much to justify the price. The base figure doesn't even look that good.

Never unless Nijimura has a big enough role for Medicos to give a reason to make an articulated figure with the stand and its motorcycle. Not even sure if Araki himself really remembered her and her stand all that much now.
A statue legend is probably more likely but not by a lot.
Also consider this, Medicos focuses on the protagonist, the allies, and then the villain for SAS releases. Phantom Blood so far is the exception for the JJBA line since we only got Johnathan and Dio. Prepare your expectations if a certain character or stand would get a figure from Medicos.

The wiki for the series is from this. I got too much on my platter to read Tokyo Ghoul in depth but I'd imagine it helps better explain his weapon better if you get far into the manga rather than just the anime adaptation. Might be better to move Sticky Fingers to the 1st hole and try to work with Bruno's pose to help match with Sticky Fingers. The user's pose and the stand have to look like they flow with each other.

And yeah, that's basically what it is. Quinque steel melded with the active kakuhou of a slain or incapacitated ghoul to create strong weapons with the ability of a ghoul's kagune.
Still don't know what the fuck quinque steel even is as far as I know, but it's some kind of material that only one organization has been shown to clearly possess. Could be special on its own, too.

The anime is garbage, the manga is okay to good, depending on your tastes. Generally, if JoJo is your thing, you're not going to be much of a fan of Tokyo Ghoul.
That aside, quinque steel has not yet been explained. It's just this weird material that is used in tandem with ghoul hunting organs.

It's not even that. I'm not a FF fan but it's a real surprise she didn't get one just because of how much she done in Part 6 that an SAS would be a shoe in. Effect parts for her bullets and maybe a large soda accessory. Though an actual FF stand form would be pushing it her human form would be a logical add-on to the Part 6 crew.
Unless Medicos remembers Josuke's chess accessories and just rushes out a Daiya SAS to complement it. Jojolion is still heavily on-going but I'm keeping my expectations low unless it's popular and Medicos pumps out the entire Higashikata family.

Toys are a luxury item. Toys for adults are even bigger luxury items. Toys for adults that you need to import from the other side of the world are even bigger luxury items. It's a niche within a niche, and the higher price tag comes with the hobby. And since the SAS are some of the most beautiful ~16cm figures on the market, the price is justified.

Almost the entire part 5 crew is cheap post release.
Also the boost in popularity probably increased the prices for certain ones plus you have the deal with the WF releases if you're keen on those colorways. If you told me Killer Queen 1st would be 6k+ on Mandarake a few years back I would probably think you're pulling my leg.
Otherwise the demand for SAS JoJo figures probably would explain the cost for a lot. The anime has quite a pull and people are snatching up Part 4 figures like crazy. On the other side of the pond you have exclusives like WF Giorno, WF Joseph, and a couple of others who are far more popular colorway choices and retain a higher price tag whereas WF Jolyne can be found for 4k and WF King Crimson for 4k or lower.
Also it helps Medicos is one of few that have a slice of the market for articulated JoJo figures whereas the other half is Real Action Heroes who are 1/6 scale and are pretty damn expensive on their own.
In the nutshell, it's who you're hunting down and its general popularity + rarity. I would be a betting man if a Part 5 adaption would happen in a year or two I could see Mista 1st being 6k later down the line before the reissue.

Absolute bullshit. The closest thing to QC issues I've experienced with SAS figures are slightly stiff joints which is quickly fixed by moving them gently.
Figuarts have nowhere near the same degree of sculpting detail or paintwork.

In my experience, both of the SAS figures I got had QC issues. Joseph's right shoulder was super loose, and Caesar's elbow pieces don't stay on. And I'm not the only one. Most of these SAS threads have at least one person asking how to fix a problem on their figure.

I guess an SHF being 19/20th the price of an SAS is technically a fraction, but in realistic terms, yes, you're pretty much wrong. Bandai's costs have risen so much that it's negligible. And coupling in the paint and sculpt work that you get with SAS that the majority of SHF would never see, you get a better deal from Medicos.

QC issues seem to rise with certain characters but not for all. King Crimson is usually afflicted with mis-positioned painting of the eyes for both the head and epitaph, Jolyne was pretty infamous for her poorly glued or attached elbows, original Josuke and his neck joint, and of course Black Dio which apparently Medicos missed an entire batch that was riddled with problems but I remember an anon reporting in that his was perfectly fine.
Otherwise I haven't heard much with other characters and stands. Either they didn't encounter any or haven't picked those up.
My 2nd Caesar's rib area joint was stuck. I heated it up with a hair dryer and he fell apart. I eventually got the ball joint unstuck with boiling water. Nothing was broken and I assume that piece was glued in, just not well enough.

Cool. I got at least half of the JoJo SASs for less than $30 from Mandy earlier this year and have never had any issues aside from Weather Report having an elbow piece that likes to pop off from time to time.

I can see why with Jotaro 1st but I don't know if Medicos would acknowledge the sculpting on Josuke to order a "1.5" re-release or pair off an updated headsculpt on another figure that isn't the original character.
Maybe they repeat Jotaro 2nd again and release a Josuke 2nd with his own colorway with the updated headsculpt and the bonus update head for Josuke 1st to support those who bought the original release. God knows how long that will take though.

Honestly I'm going through ASB for reference but he has a pretty nice laser weapon he can summon, some sort of needle like projectile he can shoot out, and arm blades like Kars but the prototype shows that but they do shoot out some sort of projectile also.
