MK keeps getting figures, and theres a bunch of SF figures.

I'd love to see a Guilty Gear or Blazblue series though. I want a Nu, I-No, Justice, Ky, and Sol.

Still a mystery to me. I guess video game characters don't sell enough to this day.

SFO and Sengoku Basara was a godsend apparently.
>>

Some obviously do, or we wouldn't keep getting MH and MGS figures.
>>
>>5702532
Well yeah, I meant more on fighting games.
Still, MGS is all main characters more or less. And MH popularity is insanely high so relatively to other media like anime and manga still seems there are far less action figures being made for games.

True. Still, happy we're getting more MH figures. They're beautiful.

Branwen was made AFTER the joint changes IIRC. So she should be fine.

Echidna though, she never got a Legacy and was made before the joint change, so chances are any Echidna is going to be floppy as fuck.

The QB series is a weird one since they were made both before and after the joint change, so one figure in the line might be fine while the other might be the shit older joints that caused people to dislike revo's. It's why people want Legacy Melona and Menace so badly, because they have shit joints AND they were popular as fuck for being tittymonsters.

>>
>>5703683
Isnt BBTS popular for western figures like Marvel Legends? I'd imagine MH would be popular enough on our side and sell out like it would on the east if Monster Hunter players saw that listing and wanted one.

I know it's surprisingly popular from where I'm at.
>>
>>5703724

BBTS usually carries a large stock of most things from what I've seen though. Just surprised it sold out.

Well, he's here. And he kinda sucks. The torso hinge is stuck, the face/head is hilariously awful, and the hip configuration looks like a trainwreck.
>>
>>5705364
That's pretty much exactly what I though when I first got him, minus the stuck torso. I was pretty new to revoltechs at the time and I came around on some others since, but I don't regret selling him.
>>
>>5705364
You didn't expect the face to be bad? I figured that's everyone expectations when people plan to get him.

You could try some warm water and move him around to loosen the torso. I do agree the hips could be better since mines keep popping out the hole but he has some surprising articulation.
>>
>>5705364
>the face/head is hilariously awful

Whats wrong with the face?

Then again, doubt it can be worse than the Figma. Fucks sake, dollar store bootlegs look better than that at times.

Positioning the eyes helps a bit but at this scale a good face is hard believe for Snake. I don't mind it and at certain angles I can see Snake in some stylized form.

I just hope GSC or Max Factory revisit Solid Snake for his MGS1 appearance since they now have better tech to tackle realistic faces.

>>
>>5705729
>did they not sell well?

Isn't that the case with Revoltech sometimes? Opinions seem divided with Revoltech figures and I never saw them as sales juggernauts but taking on interesting IP's for figure creation. Mandarake has a ton sitting around, just wish stuff like Layton gets a Legacy release.

If anything I always found Tigrex to be easy to find post release (all color variants/subspecies). A little surprised on Snake which is funny since my local sellers always sell him at $80 a pop.

>>5705751

>>
>>5705780
Comic/import shops here probably acknowledge the property which explains the cost but also imports in general are marked higher there versus online.

Figma and Revoltech are always marked much higher there than online though they have Legacy of Revoltech FoTNS and EVAs sitting on shelf's for months. Plus the occasional surprise comes when I saw a Grey Fox Revolmini sitting around for $40 though the box was beat to hell.
>>
>>5705798
>Plus the occasional surprise comes when I saw a Grey Fox Revolmini sitting around for $40 though the box was beat to hell.

Lucky. Not only do I not have any shops where I live out in the middle of nowhere, I can't find a Greyfox online for anything less than over 2x that price. Hoping he gets Legacy'd.
>>
>>5705780
Considering they are charging extra for own profit, isn't that normal?

What's truly insane are the prize figures I see in stores here in Toronto. On import sites or amazon Japan each goes for like 2000 yen or under that...I see them for 60-80 dollars WTF what a ripoff.
>>
>>5705808
It's normal but it's like swallowing a large pill for something you can get immediately or saving the extra cash online.

For instance I only visit here on occasion to check out stuff on-hand and maybe if its an exclusive they somehow got in stock and the price difference shipped online versus in-store isn't that high.

So do I. At least a Sam figure, I mean, fucks sake. Venom but no Quiet, BB but no Boss or Volgin, fucking mini Snake but no regular size?

Who is in charge of these shit decisions and how can they be fired?
>>
>>5707212
Maybe Konami or whoever would consider revisiting Revoltech for releases someday. Raiden was like a glimpse into a fantastic line of figures.
>>
>>5707222

Given Venom Snake was made after Raiden was, and was just as good, you'd suspect they're still doing business with the company, right?

Unless Venom sold like pure shit or something because his design was so drastically different from every other Snake due to Kojima going full Keiferface.
>>
>>5707227
Sales matter but that data belongs to the company so they must consider if it's a venture worth going after again.

If MGR2 gets a reveal I can feel that we would see a Vulcanlog figure coming down for release at some point. Same thing with PAK pumping out all those MGS figures, especially Quiet who somehow destroyed my expectations after seeing a crazy Mandarake listing for her. I think she managed to be more expensive than the 1/1 scale Bionic Arm for Venom Snake which ran at 30k for one store.
>>
>>5707227
I don't think venom sold too well, but it might have had to do with how expensive the figure was in the first place. He was pretty up there, considering how revoltechs are usually fairly cheaper than similar stuff. Also, I thought V was one of the better games in the series, but I don't think it was well received among other fans.
>>
>>5707255
Not to veer off topic too much but if it wasn't for the trailers giving off such a distinct vibe about what to expect from the game then maybe reception would be a little different. Barring the loss of the battle at the island for Sally (which still makes me want to believe a Revoltech Metal Gear Rex, Ray, and Sally can happen) and some of the cut content I read about, mechanically I loved V. I just wish I didn't have to revisit so many outposts with a random litter of soldiers and the side-ops being headache inducing to complete 100% unless you approach each with wildly different loadouts and tactics.
>>
>>5707255
>>5707282

Most peoples complaints seem to be the story got worse the further in you got. Which makes sense, since Kojima didn't finish the game because of Konami being a bunch of fuckwits. Huge tracts of unused dialog have been found for Snake, and the story just kind of peters out and blueballed everyone when it should've ended with an explosive finale with Lil' Liquid, Volgin, Mantis, etc.
>>
>>5707282
>>5707290
Story-wise, I went in expecting the usual retarded kojima yarn, and that's about what I got. Mechanically, it easily felt like the best of the series, so I was pretty satisfied there too. And I mean, I get your complaints, but that's not even what I meant. I remember around the time of his release there was a big thread with people who were salty about the ending "twist", and had buyer's remorse about the toy because not mah snake.

I didn't get him until he went on sale, mostly because he was expensive and I wasn't sold on his articulation, but he ended up being really fun despite his flaws. It'd be a shame if we didn't get a quiet because people got butthurt about a fairly obvious twist, but one figure for each game is sort of the norm.
>>
>>5707333
>I remember around the time of his release there was a big thread with people who were salty about the ending "twist", and had buyer's remorse about the toy because not mah snake.

Meh, given he was made to look like Snake (given in GZ it is Snake, and he still has Keiferface there), he technically is a Snake figure. But yeah I could see why people would be mad about that.

Personally I treat'em as Big Boss and not Medic Boss, since again, same face and all that.

I guess it is fine for how small it is, but I still hate how it sticks so far from the forehead.

And I don't get all the hate around the figma honestly, mine came out okay. The beard's a little underwhelming, but it's certainly not that noticeable unless you're really up close.
>>
>>5707446

He just has a really...Mushy. Looking face. He needed hard edges, and instead he looks like someones prettyboy version of Snake. The hilariously bad beard paint doesn't help either.

Solid Snake seems cursed to only have bad figures other than this revomini, who is too small to have truly awesome detail.
>>
>>5707426
>thinking on dropping $80 on figma Snake

Honestly I was hoping the price would somehow drop a little post release.

I think they knew how bad the face was going to come out for the final release so they added in other points like his articulation and even then my Snake and others reported how floppy his torso joint became due to the decision to make his torso extendable for specific poses. $80 feels like overpaying when you consider possible issues to come up not to mention his face. Though a little adjustment on his eyes and using the bandana to hide the face sculpt does help.

Overall he's really articulated which is funny how Leonidas was the first realistic figma they got right but is a bit limited in certain ranges of articulation (no pop-out 2.0 arms for dynamic sword swipes and whatnot and limited ab crunch.)

>>5707446
The prototype face probably set an impression and then everyone saw the final release pics. I'm slightly more bothered how much black paint got all over the angry clinching face's teeth and somehow he has more beard than the default face.
>>
>>5707459

Maybe we'll get a 2.0 down the road at some point? I'm probably gonna say fuck it and grab the revomini. Gonna be bummed he won't fit in with my Venom, but I guess thats why he's called Big Boss?
>>
>>5707456
It's certainly nowhere near the quality of the promo shots, but I still believe it's the best Solid Snake figure out there. Just overall, he feels like the character, whereas the Mini is more a caricature.

As to whether or not he's worth the prices he's going for now, that really comes down to how big a fan of the series you are.

I'm really hoping someone puts out a 6 inch MGS1 Snake eventually, cause it is my favorite look of his. I grabbed the Mini just in case it's the only one, and it might continue to increase in value.

He's fun to mess around with Venom for sure.
>>
>>5707465
The new face printing tech can give them a reason to go for a MGS1 Snake to compliment MGS2 Snake.

The revolmini is a ton of fun if you know what limits it has. I recommend it if you can get it at a decent price. On the plus side the Revolmini's pistol can actually work for Figma Snake and not look totally out of scale. At least on hand for me.
>>
>>5707474
>>5707476

Yeah, I love the MGS1 look best. To me thats the iconic look. It's why I like the Venom Snake so much too, that suit has a lot of similarities to the MGS1 suit.
>>
>>5707495
I think that was the idea if it has that level of similarities. Must've lifted a few design notes and applied it to Venom's sneaking suit.

Yeah, it's definitely possible Venom's suit was the precursor to the MGS1 suit in terms of timeline.

Looking good, looking good.

I think I'm just as excited for Black Magician as I were for Venom Snake and Ultron. I know people want the classic version but I have zero nostalgia for the series and I like this design way more.

I never played Yu-Gi-Oh or Pokemon...and I was in elementary school, in Japan, in the 90's...how did I manage that? I had enough friends...
>>
>>5710217
Maybe you didn't meet up people who played? Shit was popular in the US(or at least in the schools I attended) and you couldn't escape a classroom of one or two guys who had a deck ready to duel.

Only thing I'm not a fan of is hip joints for Yugi for some reason. If anything Dark Magician is looking great.
>>
>>5710280
I think we weren't allowed to bring stuff like that to school, so any dueling was done after school probably. Japanese schools are relatively strict. I hang with a different crowed I guess. Plus I was into Digimon and SD Gundams.

Robot style joint placement of the hips do look odd, but I think posing in hand they wont be too bad.

The yellow part of Yugi's hair is way to flat, but other than that the figure looks better than I expected.
>>
What did they change about the joints with newer releases? I only have some older Revoltechs like Yotsuba, Ultra Magnus, and Krauser and the joints are fine, though a bit stiff.

I also just ordered a Boba Fett on Manda that was listed as "Opened, unused, box damaged" so I'm assuming the box was just opened for some reason. I like the sculpt from what I've seen, Yamaguchi isn't the one who sculpted the Star Wars line, right?
>>
>>5711509

Basically just improved their stability/I think more teeth in the ratchets for a better range of "stop" points?
>>
>>5707446

I'm actually surprised at how bad the face was for mine... Especially since I'm super happy with the figma Guts figures I got. The sucky part is that the grimacing angry face on my figma Snake is the one that turned out bad, while his normal calm face is the one that turned out alright. I really wanted it for the grimacing face.

That being said, yes, I think there is a curse on Solid Snake. Raiden turned out great, then for no fucking reason we got mini revo for Gray Fox and Solid Snake... Then somehow we got a full sized Venom Snake who also turned out well.

That's correct. He didn't sculpt them, but he did the placement of the joints to make sure they are just as poseable as his own figures. That*s what he's doing for all Vulcanlog now (besides V Snake) actually.

The price is ridiculous, hoping they don't sell well and end up discounted. Also the articulation looks really weak, almost no forward movement in the legs it seems, and the torso's bound to be heavily restricted because of that vest.

They are on a t joint but he has more articulation than the kit. The kit from what i saw on a review can only move his legs out a tiny bit. But arms, knees and head are all gr8. You can get some pretty dynamic poses for being a c3po.
>>

They are made of 3 separate pieces, where as the later 6mm are made of 2 pieces, the are structurally different designs.
>>
>>5713191
I don*t think Konami controls that, it's up to the toy companies to ask Konami's permission to release the figures they want to make. Unless Konami puts a stop to them which I doubt they do.
>>
>>5713774
>I don*t think Konami controls that

It makes little sense to me that a company wouldn't order a certain size/whatever of a figure be made if they're going to give out the license at all.
>>
>>5713782
I honestly don't think most license holders give a damn about things like that. They got asked for the rights, got paid for them, and probably got the chance to thumbs up/thumbs down the end result. I'm sure there are a few collectors at konami, but I guarantee the people actually in charge of rights probably doesn't make much of a distinction between figmas, revoltechs, and posters of big boss, much less action figure scales.
>>
>>5713794
Game companies probably consider merchandising to be superfluous extra income at best that they make little real money from. WoW had little extra stuff when it was making money off the subscription fees- MMOs generally have little merch when they make money off digital sales. Likewise, the small pittance Nintendo gets off figures is probably nothing to them(they have enough money in reserve that they could lose money for 10 years and still stay in business) that it's not a thing they care about. They barely sold merch before, and even now they act like it's barely a concern to license it out.

It's mostly failures like Sega that try to sell other stuff, when their games are horrible.

>>5715105
You can't expect stores to get imports and not charge more than the regular online front. My comic and import shops have similar prices.

Though it only works for those who don't know anything about AmiAmi or Hobbylink Japan and/or prefer to pick up the figure in person and inspect it themselves. I saw a guy pick up a Venom Snake for $80+tax at my local comic place.
>>
>>5715166
But this mark up is bullshit because my hobby store buys in bulk from retailers.
>>
>>5715181
Same thing with my places. I'll caution a guess that there is a customer base who are willing to buy at those prices thinking you can't get imports any easier than that. Don't get me wrong that price is ludicrous for a figure like that but if they can move it then they are willing to mark it up. Though they have to also realize that's a pretty nutty price and only one or two people will just buy it while they sit on the rest they bought in bulk.

Hopefully they mark it down at some point unless they plan to keep it eternally at $100+

I'd say I'm happy with him, with a couple asterisks. His torso really is as freakishly long as it looks, so if you ever have him just standing straight up he's gonna look weird. He looks great doing action poses though, and he's got more than enough range to pull them off. His ankles have some excessive molding which makes him a little hard to stand because he can't quite tilt forward enough though. That doesn't really bother me because he's practically made for a stand. I like him ten times more than the black series, but if either of the mafex ones end up being good he's probably getting sold.

Yeah no. Not gonna happen. That line has had repeated QC issues (fragility AND joints popping up super easy as hell), articulation issues (stupid engineering) and sculpt/paint issues. I know many likes the humanoid Revoltechs (Vash, Raiden, Kinnikuman, Ed & Al, QB, piece of shit Dante Revo for some reason, etc) but if you're voting, please show some love to the Yamaguchi Robot Revos. There haven't been a new one since EVA-8+2 (Jan 2014) and they are all great and fun figures that don't have too much alternatives (or cheap).
Priority on the oldy super robots and non-EVA Gainax stuff for me.

BTW this voting site is great for seeing all the Revos, even shows the sculptors. I hope they keep something like this after the 20th.
>>
>>5716722
Also people gave shit to Yamaguchi for the TMNT Revos, but thye are all made by someone else, three different guys in fact. Huh who knew.
>>
>>5716412
Considering many IDW artists were original DW artists who drew Transformers in "Pat Lee's" style, that makes sense.

However, there is some controversy on how much Pat Lee actually did draw and how much was others ghostdrawing under Lee's name.

When DW went balls up because of how much of a real life shit Pat Lee was, Hasbro took possession of much of the art and used it as their own. I think that's why it got handed over for use in the Revoltech versions.

I got the Revo Megs, he's actually pretty neat for a little guy.
>>
How exactly do I vote? Do I have to tweet it or something?

Literally who

Also, Arthur from Capcom and Beats from JSR/SEGA. Thanks for all the dead characters that's 20 years too late. I don't understand Revo/Kaiyodo's game plan at all. I love Revo just like everyone here, and it's nice that unlike Figma or Figuarts, you never feel jewed by Kaiyodo, if a Revo figure does suck its never from the lack of trying, but their character selection is so crazy and out of bounds. Do they not need money? Feels like there's absolutely no rhyme or reason at all, other than MonHun being the mainstay in Revo line and the only "exclusive" for the line.

An anon from the last thread did an explanation of Revoltech

>Kaiyodo in general doesn't really try marketing towards the same demographics as their competitors, because collector-focused articulated figures have always been more of a side business for them. The bulk of their business, even before Revoltech, came from capsule figures and products aimed at older audiences (miniature animal and plant replicas, etc.). That's the main reason we've gotten things like the Danboards, Rilakkuma and other mascots, and the Takeya line - rather than the usual "try to predict what will be popular and milk it before nerds move on to the next thing" strategy employed in this field, Kaiyodo instead tries to woo people who don't normally buy posable figures in the hopes of creating new buyers.

oh, anon. I have such wonders to show you

Kaiyodo makes all the money from Capsule figures. they grew so much as a company with Choco Egg figures.

Also WF makes some money for them? I have no clue how an event like that financially works, might be charity level for them.

Also, what you are pointing out is all Union Creative's selection. Different company different ideals. They distribute for other companies like Sentinel and I think their selection is closer to what gets figmas.

I'd buy the hell out of an All Might.
>>
Okay I tried voting. Just follow @kaiyodo_PR and click the Revos you want and hit the tweet tab on the window that appears.
>>
Huh voting tab disappeared after 4...I thought you can vote 5 a day.
>>
>>5716253

Hell yeah, voting for legacy im@s Frauleins, just coz I'm pissed at not getting any more MGS.

Vote Layton you punks
>>
Is there any way to tell who is winning?

Need a new-joints Melona so fucking badly, and I'm curious as to who exactly is winning.
>>
>>5717129
No, I'm voting Mr Incredible and Danbo.
>>
>>5717234
The number that is next to the tweet when you vote is the total so far...? I don't know how twitter works. Or search the Revo*s number.
>>
How are the original Revoltech evas? The very first ones
>>
quick question
do you think there is any chance the EVA EVO unit 05 will be released as a legacy? Or is the evangelion line oficially dead?
>>
>>5718006

Same chance as anyone else with this poll. You want it, you better vote for it, and hope others do too.
>>
>>5716722
Actually there has been a limited yamaguchi release of eva unit 04 this year.
It's a pretty cool figure but sadly it was a Universal Studios Japan / Evastore limited, glad I got it.
>>
>>5718020
I just asked despite the poll since it's weird that it's the only one of its line that didn't get a legacy... how unfair, since it's the priciest one.
>>
>>5718033
I forgot about it, and I got it too haha. Still barely anything new
>>
>>5718080
Because 05 is a shitty unit that no one wants. Only top sellers got Legacy release. EVO body 08 didn't get one either despite the chance of fixing the paint problem. But they might do all the 3rd movie ones in a batch someday.
>>
>Megatron
>Starscream
>Jason Voorhees
>Melona
>Snake (it says Ground Zeroes)

Did I do good /toy/?
>>
>>5718251
Eh, I mean, it's nice because it's very different and adds variety to the line but yeah it was poorly executed indeed, especially the fact that it's out of scale. Guess I'll just settle for the 077 one, since I don't really feel like spending 80+ bucks on the slightly-less-sucky one.
Also, can the 08 be considered an EVO? It's from 3.33 and the box does not say evo and does not have angel parts and so on (Not that there would even be a need for a legacy of any of the 3.33 ones)
>>
>>5718266
>Melona

Yes, yes you did Anon.
>>
Want to vote but fuck twitter. Going through the list was cool though. Would've probably voted the Elric Brothers, Echidna and maybe the turtles.
>>
>>5718362

If I had twitter I'd vote the Raoh/Kokuoh 2 pack. So expensive these days
>>
>>5718281
Did it not? Anyways the same body so it should be. Makes it easier to distinguish than alpha and beta.

EVA-13 is harder to get so rerelease would be nice.
>>
>>5718266
So does it not lock up (vote tab disappears) after 4 votes for you? I can vote again if I erase my History, but then I can go more than 5 it seems. I got to keep track myself but it seems something is broken.
>>
>>5718266
Also that is PW Snake for sure.

> all these ugly snake figs

Just re-release this please.
>>
>>5718409
I voted for the 5 of them and the option to vote disappeared afterwards. I'll check again tomorrow and see if it'll allow me to choose 5 again.
>>5718412
Yeah, the picture is of PW Snake, but the text reads Ground Zeroes, so who knows. I figured why not since I haven't gotten around to picking up either.
>>
>>5718573
If not for the bad hand connector pieces, I would have kept my copy. He was one of my first Revo figures along with Raiden.
>>
>>5718575
Both are up on Mandarake for decent prices. PW at 3500 and GZ at 5000
>>
>>5718583
Nice, I didn't see them last time I was on there. I just ordered aa Boba Fett and a few figmas so hopefully they're still up next time I can order stuff.
