why does he have the feral cons' heads as an accessory?
>>
>>5697994

Especially since the Predacon's are supposed to be ridiculously strong in terms of lore.

Anyway, actual question: How are the Maketoys Tailgate & Swerve?
>>
>>5698000
Swerve's amazing in both articulation and quality. If I had to pick one toy to sell someone on transformers, it'd be him. Tailgate's a definite drop in the quality department, but he's still a good toy if you like the character.
>>
Whatever happened to crazydevy?
>>
>>5697994
>why does he have the feral cons' heads as an accessory?

He comes with a bunch of new heads for the Feralcons like how Felisaber had faces for Bovis/Fortis.
>>
>>5698183

Wait, he's being made by MMC, or he's just coming with heads for the MMC 'bots?

MMC stated they will also offer the Heads as a separate kit.

He is an MMC toy that comes with a set of heads for the Feralcons/Predacons. You can also get the heads separately. But the reason the picture has the heads is to show off the stuff he comes with.

are the mmc azalea molds worth picking up? looking for some deluxe fembots to round out my collection.
>>

I don't have any, but from what I hear they are over priced for what they are. Take that as you will. I think they are over detailed and that is why I have no interest in them. The only one I like is the 2nd one in the picture there with the hammer.

What are the final thoughts on Mastermind Creations R-16 Anarchus? I'm thinking about picking him up because he's my favorite DJD member, also that Electric chair alt-mode is really unique.

Personaly, I love him. I really dig the alt mode and the spider drone gimmick.

I think the reception overall was positive.
>>
>>5698791
I wouldn't go crazy and pick up all of them but I'd say it's worth buying the one you like best.

Salvia Prominon is the most bang for your buck since she comes with the most accessories but she's sold out everywhere.

I got Evil Lord today, and he's awesome. He really reminds me of a Brave robot thanks to those shoulder pads and proportions. Though I do wish he partsformed a little less, I really can't complain since all his modes are great.
>>
>>5698871

All the IF stuff partsforms from what I've seen.
>>
>>5698898
I don't know if I've seen any that do it this much. I'm mostly referring to the ramps, since they do nothing for the jet and tank altmodes.
>>
>>5698871
>Though I do wish he partsformed a little less

Thats just a side effect of the scale I think. You can either have hallow, unarticulated crap like hasbro makes, or you can go the way that IF has. Its a trade off either way.

Evil Lord is almost exactly the G1 toy transformation complete with ramps that don't go anywhere in alt modes.

Overlord is just one of those characters that has to partsform, like Omega Supreme.
>>
>>5698813

Great actually. My only gripes have to do with hiding he hands better in alt mode and having fucking thigh swivels since the knee swivels make the thighs look unnatural in a more dynamic pose. The forearms could stand to be beefier like the art as well.

But thanks to the positives and being one of the most unique transforming things in recent memory these are nothing to lose your head over.
>>
>>5698791

I'd agree with the other anon. Maybe pick up your favorite character or color, but be warned the toy is extremely fiddly, and not super solid in any way.

I have the Elita mold, she's not bad, she's got a lot of articulation, but I'm not sure if it's just me and I'm stupid or it's the mold, but her neck never stays tabbed in so it pisses me off when I'm trying to pose her and have to constantly fix that.
I don't regret getting her because I really wanted an Elita, but I won't pay for her at full price if I was getting another one.

Pretty cool all around. They're solid and weighty, have a lot of articulation. Just check your Leodux if you get him first, me and another Anon here had a QC issue where a bar on the inside of him was put in upside down from what we could tell, meaning two black filler pieces couldn't fit inside of him.

It's not that much of an issue, since all they do is fill in the chest in lion mode (and you can't even see the chest without turning him upside down), but it exists. Unfortunately I had my Leodux for too long to return it before I discovered the QC issue, but given those black filler parts are used for making the combiner sword, you can't really see the hole they fill unless you turn him upside down in lion mode, AND also go on Talon's wings for storage, it didn't really bother me.

it's an easy fix for any Leo Dux that needs it. It is only 4 screws on his back holding the torso together and two holding that tab piece in. It only takes aboout ten minutes total. It's pretty easy, but take care when separating the torso the arms can just pop off and there are little tab thingys by the arm swivels that can fall out. The tab in my pic is how it should look when being fixed with the indent facing upward. I don't have Talon (yet) so having the sword hilt pieces stick bugged the crap out of me. For the record, when I was searching for others that have had this same problem; I would find the solution in a thread about Nero Rex not regular Rex.

>>5699265
Buy'em, they kick ass. You can get a few of them "loose" without the box for 45 or 55 on eBay and the seller (netclow) seems to have a large stock of them too. My guess is the seller knows someone at the factory where they are made, and these are being sold out the back door, so to speak.

Once I get talon, I'm moving on to TFC Hades or Poseidon.

Anyone have this Jinbao God Of War? He's damn big. My size 10 foot for scale.
Looks discouragingly plasticky.
>>
>>5701338
I hear it's a decent bootleg for what it is (apparently the plastic quality is on-par with CW Devy?)

Just proportion issues of the heads and cheapened hand/wrist articulation. Jinbao plans on releasing an add-on soon to address this, though.
The Nero Rex has better quality control, but I've only heard one post about it

That's the black and purple version right? If so, BensCollectibles did a review on it and his copy was fucked up pretty bad. Could have just been the luck of the draw, but even his normal colored KO version had fucked up QC. I think the combined mode's arm broke on camera or something.
>>
>>5701654

Felisaber comes with some stuff for the other Predacon's IIRC, and has a sabertooth tiger helmet as a callback to some other beastbot whose name I can't remember. Something beginning with a C I think.

Also, whats the proper way to disengage the Feral Rex limbs from the body? Is there anything I have to press, or do they just pull off?

How does fansproject menasor hold up? I have their breakdown because I liked the design, and I'm considering getting the rest after combiner wars menasor ended up being such a disappointment. I've heard it's fiddly to combine, but is he solid or at least fun once he gets there?
>>
>>5701722
The consensus seems to be the good ones are on par with the official. Combiner joints seem to be better than the Weijiang(?) KO.

There are some issues apparently, the most common being a wrong shoulder on Blast Off preventing transformation. If you order from SirToys that won't be a problem because he always transforms to vehicle mode before shipping.

Mine will be here in a couple days, maybe tomorrow. I'll put some pictures up here once I get them.

You used to be able to find it really cheap used, as a lot of people were disappointed. You just have to make sure that none of the tabs are broken, as they were pretty fragile.

Diesel/Motormaster is more a choir to transform than he is any fun. The combined mode itself is basically an articulated statue. Meaning you put him in a pose and leave him alone. I actually ended up enjoying UW menasor with upgrade kits installed much better.

Most KO's have worse paint/plastic/joints/etc. There isn't much paint on the Predacon's though, so they can't fuck that up too much unless it's literal "rub off with your thumb" tier.

But plastic quality, joints, etc? That'll be tough. The MMC shit is top fucking notch and if anything is off in these KO's you'll probably know it.
>>
>>5703317

The problem with 3P combiners is you usually can't tell if it'll be shit until the whole thing is out. I'd sit on the fence until several reviews of the full combiner are out.

It probably won't be as good as MMC, but it's more like if it's good enough as a substitute.

I'm sure many people would give up a bit of plastic quality and QC for a combiner set that will cost 40-50% of the original, assuming the lost quality isn't super bad or something.
>>
>>5703472
I know Wukong makes decent KO's of 3P, their warbotron was pretty much exactly like the original and it even fixed some of the issues the original had.

Xerxes fixes alot (all as far as I know) of Leonidas breakage issues. He's still fiddly as fuck though man. He has a billion moving parts that all knock Inot each other and his joint tolerances are crap. His tail is a floppy mess. His lion. Head in alt mode has next to no articulation.

That said, he DOES look really good sitting on a shelf.

I did a full review and photo gallery if you want more info.

Yeah it's dark on dark, the subject gets lost in the background. I should have gone with a lighter color backdrop.
>>
>>5703870
Good review. I much prefer these kinds of reviews with a bunch of good pictures and some brief explanations than watching some man child fumble with a figure on camera.

That being said, I still can't bring myself to get this guy. I'm a sucker for black repaints, but something about him looking like a zoid really puts me off. Plus I have no clue where I'd even put him in my display. He doesn't work with Classics, MP's or even Beast Wars figures. The $150 price tag doesn't help either. Maybe if I could find him under 100...but I doubt that'll ever happen.

The best part of this new Piranacon is that the limbs have a dedicated elbow joint in their torsos for arm mode, instead of using those shitty thigh elbows that everyone else uses out of laziness. Thigh elbows look like shit and need to go, and this combiner is finally throwing the idea away.

Anyone who was on the fence about the Machine Boy Bruticus I would definitely get them. Quality is fantastic on Brawl and Swindle, only issues are a couple sprue marks and a few 5mm posts/ports being to big/tight. Nothing loose.

You may want to wait on Blast Off, though. The green paint could use another coat and the knee joints on mine are fucky. The knee itself is great, but the sliding mechanism is kind of loose so when you try to bend the knee the slider-thing bends as well, making it very hard to bend the knee. I also think I got two left sided sliders, because his right knee doesn't fit right when fully extended. The arms were also on backwards but thatvwas an easy fix.

Supposedly they're tuning them some more at the factory for the next batch so I'll see if I can get another one. For 30 CAD shipped it's cheaper than a Voyager here.

If you can handle the bright colors absolotely get them.

Do the TFC combiners use all the same combiner joint?
I'm tempted to try doing a peg leg effect by swapping one of Neptune legs for something like their Scrapper
>>
>>5706745

AFAIK they're all somewhat compatible
>>
>>5706721
>I can't believe how fucking good these TFC Seacons look considering that it's fucking TFC
Im pretty sure they have some designers from MMC on loan. Check out the hands. Same design MMC uses.
>>
>>5706759

Yeah it reminds me way more of Feral Rex than it does the previous TFC combiners. The look of both the individual bots and the combined mode really reminds me of Feral Rex.
>>
>>5706739

What is this supposed to be?

Looks like it could be a cool flying base for the figure though, assuming it works without having it turned into...Whatever that clusterfuck is supposed to be.
>>
>>5706785

All of the G1 seacons have a targetmaster mode and you can turn the combiner kibble into a base for them to stand on and be like a turret basically so they're just replicating that gimmick.
>>
>>5706790

er I guess it's not the combiner kibble that forms the stands on the G1 version it's like extra guns or something but w/e
>>
>>5706759
>>5706780

Maybe they're just copying some design cue's from it? I mean, shit, Feral Rex is probably the best 3P combiner to date. It certainly wouldn't be a bad thing if others copied some of the ideas behind it's design.
>>
>>5706797

That seems less likely than borrowing designers only because it feels like all at once over night TFC became suddenly not shit, but either way I'm happy
>>
>>5706804

To be fair, I'd wait until it's fully out and reviewed before calling it not shit. 3P combiners are a retardedly huge money sink and anything could go wrong with it once it's fully released that people might not know until the last piece is in their hands and then the defects start showing.
>>
>>5706721
>I can't believe how fucking good these TFC Seacons look considering that it's fucking TFC
TFC's soft looking sculpts work in favor of the organic Seacons.
>>
>>5706827

True, I guess I just mean that everything after Hercules but before Hades immediately LOOKED like ass, then Hades looked 100 times better, and now Poseidon looks 100 times better than Hades.
>>
>>5706836
>I just mean that everything after Hercules but before Hades immediately LOOKED like ass

They just didnt realy keep up with the rest of the 3rd party companies. If you look back at Maketoy early offerings like the Mobine set and stuff like that, its about on par with TFC, but then right around the time that combiners became the new fad, all the 3rd party companies kind of jumped light years ahead in terms of design and engineering and left companies like KFC and TFC behind.
>>
>>5706854

I mean that implies that KFC was ever NOT behind lol
>>
>>5706836

Hades never really looked that good though, especially with the fucky-looking feet. Honestly, very few 3P combiners do look worth owning. Most have some oddball aesthetic that doesn't look like ANYTHING or is referencing "HEY REMEMBER THAT ONE ISSUE OF IDW FROM LIKE 5 YEARS AGO THAT MENASOR LOOKED LIKE THIS AND THEN WAS NEVER DRAWN THAT WAY AGAIN BECAUSE IT LOOKED LIKE SHIT? GUESS WHAT, WE WANT YOU TO SPEND $500 ON IT!" tier of fuckery of design that makes me wonder why they'd bother to waste time and money making.
>>
>>5706864

Hades doesn't look good in combined mode but I can partially excuse that because some of what looks shit about it is just them trying to stay GEEWUN. But the individual bots look great, which is like the opposite of the case for all their previous combiners. Look at their individual predacons they look so fucking bad it's like a joke.

And now with Poseidon the individual modes are great, and the combined mode looks like the best design I've ever seen on a 3P combiner.
>>
why do people like skullface?

I watched part of a couple of his videos recently since everyone seems to recommend him lately but like his humor shit is cringe as fuck, the video quality is mediocre, and I don't even remotely trust the opinions of a person who collects fucking Play Arts Kai of all things
>>
>>5707024

Probably because he spends most of his time pointing out flaws. Other reviewers are usually "HOLY SHIT 10/10 BUY NOW CHECK MY BBTSLBGTBBW LINK BELOW TO ORDER YOURS TODAAAAYYYYY" through most reviews.

I tend to watch 4 or 5 reviews on something and then decide, and Skullface's are usually one of them since he usually gets right to "This part of the toy is shit".
>>
>>5707024
He tends to be critical of transformers toys, so I watch him to recognize the worst aspects of a toy.
>>
>>5707024
Because aside from fans toys who he dickrides super hard he does the most thorough and honest 3P reviews.
>>
>>5707029

that makes sense.

like I do like Benscollectables because his video quality is really nice, he seems cool, and he reviews a bunch of shit that other people don't, but he's one of those people like Peaugh who has a completely positive reaction to like 99% of everything so you have to just like discern the fucked up things about the figure on your own because he'll kind of excuse them as he goes
>>

>>
>>5707565
You know the hasbro vs. takara bullshit in the official threads? Now imagine that but 100x worse.
>>
>>5707565
That's actually how it used to be in the first few years of /toy/, back when third party stuff was mostly just Fans Project upgrades and a few other companies doing small projects. Once third party became a much bigger scene, a rift started forming and it just didn't end up working out to keep the two together in one General.

Several reasons
- TF General threads move too quickly to keep any viable information about third party figures around, especially when that information comes at such a trickle. Four TF General threads could live and die by the time we get the next new bits of info for ANY third party figures so that info would be quickly buried and lost before half the people who care find out about it.
- While there is some overlap between the groups, a number of people are split between official and third party figures. Some folks do nothing but bitch about third party prices and designs while others will shitpost about how Hasbro/Takara offerings looks like McDonald's toys for babies. There are enough dissidents within each of the two groups to ensure they can't get along together.
- It's just easier to focus on and discuss who's releasing what without having official stuff blended with third party.
>>

>>5707565

Other generals can handle unofficial things but /tfg/ really can't, both because the shitposting would be impossible to contain and the fact that the sheer volume of unlicensed stuff eclipses Hasbro and Takara's yearly output. /tfg/ can barely keep it together with Hasbro versus Takara with the same shit but prettier, what would happen if you dumped in over 100 more companies?
>>
>>5707670
And really it just makes sense given the volume. There's enough third party stuff to,warrant a thread and the main general moves too fast for there to be any third party discussion.
>>
>>5707667
>Some folks do nothing but bitch about third party prices

Everyone always wishes prices were lower. I don't fucking like having to pay $80+ for a decent update to (obscure G1 figure) or (should've had an MP fucking AGES ago like Jazz), but when it's my only choice, I'll do it.

And I'll bitch about it to boot. Doesn't mean I don't like the product (when it's a GOOD product), but fuck, could they at least sodomize my wallet a little bit less? Maybe spit on the rod before cramming it up there?
>>
>>5707670
>/tfg/ can barely keep it together with Hasbro versus Takara

That is just dedicated shitposting at this point, because retards can't resist gobbling the bait like a hooker gobbles cocks.
>>
>>5707732
Blame stores like BBTS, TFsource, and what not for artificially raising the prices. Otherwise we'd get much cheaper products like Quakeblast.

That said, is Cloud9 planning on making anything else?
>>
>>5707565

The regular tf thread is filled with sour grape poorfags who throw a shitfit when a tigertracks sized masterpiece costs seventy bucks.

I'm not even baiting. Some cunt started bitching about Hasbro's galvatron being a PoS and I told him that Fantoys Sovereign looked top shelf and that he'd drop this fall.

He went absolutely ballistic. FT having a good track record for quality didn't matter, MP's being as expensive as third party toys didn't matter.

The one 'official tf' elitist is lost in the sea of poorfags who just hate other people affording nice things.

The thing that always bothers me about him are his strange thoughts on articulation. Like, how he always says a hinged-swivel on the head is ideal for a MP-scaled transformer, and that he seems to prefer the shitty knuckle-hinge hands that most 3P toys do over articulated ones. I get that it's his opinion and all, but I don't get why anyone would be against extra poseability.

He hates articulated hands because they don't look like proportionally. I.E they often look too small or skinny. With a hinge swivel you don't have to worry about the friction of a the ball joint wearing out over time. I believe you also get more motion out of it too.

I personally like the side-to-side tilt that a ball joint affords. The real way to do it is a double-jointed system, with the base of the neck and the head on joints.

A better question is why the fuck it has such dedicated shitposting.

Guessing he might be more based on this.

There's no difference between using the word "toxic" in place of "cancer". It's semantics.
