I bought myself Digimon Cyber Sleuth to play on a couple of long-haul flights I was on this month. It's great. Kinda makes me wanna buy a Digivice. I used to collect Tamagotchis, but never Digimon. What are the best/most recent ones?

I'm... Ridiculously jealous of you right now. Those 4 have been at the top of my wishlist for the past few months. I almost won an auction for an analyzer at around $15 but I fell asleep and was outbid. I can't even find a Pendulum that doesn't already have a ridiculous starting bid or isn't just BIN at some ridiculous price. How are the D-Arc pets by the way? About your ebay mishap, I know the feeling. I often stare out the window on rainy nights and think about 'the one that got away.' If some one were to ask, "Was it a girl?" I would respond, "No, It was a Digivice I really wanted."
The D-ark isn't a v-pet, It's a digivice. So it's pretty much the same as the previous digivices, with a map and bosses and such. Also it has a card gimmick, but sadly I don't own any cards. I just like it because it looks cool on display.

The D-3 is actually my favorite. I actually prefer the american version over the japanese version, even though the jp version is technically superior. As for the D-ark, the american version (D-power) suuuucks. I have one but didn't even bother putting it on the table for the pic.

Heck, if you didn't already have the two D-3 I have (Red V1 and Orange V2) I'd offer them up. I can't even use them properly anymore because of disabilities so I guess it's just salt on the wound. What are the regional differences, if you don't mind me asking? I always figured they'd be more or less the same thing. I was always curious how the card slash stuff worked with the ark.

Besides looks, and language, they are basically the same, step counter, boss fight, etc. The japanese digivices are more screen acurate, There are subtle diffences in the game, but not really anything note worthy. I never had any d-ark cards, but aparently they were for getting items in-game. I never got the digivice from the newest season, No Nostalgia, No buy. lol

yeah americans always get screwed. I think they were cheaper though. I was super poor as a kid and I could afford one. Seeing the screens on my monitor instead of my phone, made me gasp. my phone usually takes super fuzzy pictures, but of course when it's embarrassing my phone is like yeah, this pic will be HD.
Yeah the savers (or data squad) digivice is probably the best ever. I only prefer the D-3 because of Nostalgia. The orange are american and the blue are JP. The JP are actually V-pets and the US ones are more Digivice like. However they don't have pendulums the battles happen at random. Also they actually have a save feature (which blew my mind at the time). oh, yeah the JP digivices (D-3 and D-ark) also have backup saves. I thought you were talking about the X loader digivice, that actually has the ablility the play Mp3s.

(V2+) There is a map of the area with the number of steps to the dots with the goal to find the boss and advance to the next area, with random battles along the way, etc. NA version is watered down, and finding digi-eggs is VERY different in the JP version, but the game at it's core is the same.

They're not the same, though.
They're both pedometer games, but they're different products. Besides the larger screen, the Japanese versions only gave you two partner Digimon. But you eventually got all of their armor forms instead of just the two armors each character was given in the show.
You got new armor by waving it around electronic devices.
There's also some other stuff that's different. You needed two devices to unlock jogres (DNA Digivolving). You could get extra armor from the D-Terminal. There was a port on the side to connect to some Wonderswan games to unlock the rest of the revolutions.
There was also some BS about training and time of day influencing your character's spectrum between vaccine and virus.
But yes, you still use the pedometer to progress on a map and fight enemies.

Okay, you got me. I shouldn't that said they were the same. They are SIMILAR, though. I did say the american version was watered down feature-wise, and that whole digiegg thing. Who doesn't remember waving their Japanese D-3 around and saying "Can you hear me now?" and then laughing like an idiot. Good times were had.
I guess I'm just biased, as you can see I own a lot of NA D-3s In my opinion I actually prefer the 'weaker' product. (version 2, v1 is okay and v3 is pretty meh.)
Also I only have the one JP D-3 so I can't Jogres, I do own a wonderswan and the games but I don't have the link cable... I'm gonna keep checking ebay, to see if I can get another D-3 for cheap.

Sorry for the bad lighting. Here's my collection currently.
Long shot here but does anybody have the hard plastic digimon cards that they would be willing to sell. They came with some of the season 3 toys I know for certain there was one for the three champions. The cards can be used as a replacement for the Blue/Red card for the season 3 digivice. Brother and I lost ours years ago and I would like to play the game again.
I really wish that I had taken more opportunities as a kid to get more Digimon merch. But I'm trying to make up for it now. I just hope some new sh figuarts get announced.

It's called the Tamagotchi Mix (or M!X) and has an IR unit in the top of the device like the older models. Full color LCD. We don't know much about it yet, but a (what I assume to be partially complete) character list is available.

All the digivices are kind of gimmicky. The pendulums have the most characters, but will rape your wallet.

There are guides plastered all over the internet for literally every digimon toy. You won't have any trouble no matter what toy you get.
Shockingly, the v1 digimon pets from the USA are actually the cheapest right now. You can find them out of box for 40-60 on Amazon of all places.
Next up would be mandarake, where you can find some out-of-box pendulums for around 6000 yen at the lowest price. I would jump on these NOW if I were you. I collect v-pets and have made checking mandy a regular habit over the last few years. Prices have gone up and stock has been moving very quickly since Tri was announced.
Xross Loaders might not be too expensive now either. I thought it was a really fun digivice. The first color digivice and it had a neat RPG-game aspect to it. Plus lots of older digimon are available in it.

The English one is absolute shit. Just awful. The Japanese one is incredible. It's 50% bigger, screen is huge in comparison, it has more features, more digimon, and is clearly much better quality and is really an accurate show prop in terms of the detail that went into its design.
I threw away my English "D-tector" when I finally got a D-scanner because I was really disgusted with how shoddy the English one was in comparison.

Twins are just like any other pendulum.
The Xross Loader is very user-friendly. Once you figure out the menu options and battle options you basically need no further instruction. Took me maybe 15 minutes total to get the hang of the whole thing and all the features.

I saw one on Mandarake the other day but I couldn't justify spending 6000 yen on it. I bought a D-real Kyuubimon though. I have Terriermon and Galgomon already so I finally have the trio. I thought Frontier was fabulous. It's a shame it was cut short. Apparently it was supposed to be like 40-something episodes and they chopped it down due to poor reception.
