I gotta say that Kup looks a lot less weird in color. Still not the proportions I'd ever expect Kup to have but if they do color it like that it might end up looking alright.

they gotta fix the limbs and I'm on board with making a 1986 Movie crew or IDW shelf depending on how it turns out.

Another MP scale figure not in MP style. Easy pass. It would be a must buy at deluxe size.
>>
>>5686448

Maybe people like other things anon.
Maybe the IDW design is more appealing to some.
Maybe people like IDW designs and want them in large figures.
Maybe some people like figures that are not 6 polygons.

Is this MP scale? I know MP Autobot cars aren't much above deluxe, but this looks a bit complex, and has jointing and construction normally seen on slightly larger toys.

Problem is, it looks like a Classics toy, not a MP, so it might just be a fail anyway.
>>
>>5686442
Wish the legs were a bit shorter, or that the feet just came out slightly below the tires, it makes no sense for the legs to be so long because the cab of the truck is also way too fucking long.
>>
>>5686547
Maybe if you turn the feet around and position them on the legs it would look better? It looks like you can do that.

i mean... look at this shit, keep in mind he made two of these pics
>>
>>5686482
>>5686483
>>5686487

I like the pearly finish but I don't like the silverish color of the car bits. Makes the whole thing look too dark whereas I think white would break up the dark blue and gunmetal better.

Why did they decide to make it silver anyway? Has Jazz ever been silver outside of Bayformers? I mean not that white vs. light silver is like so inaccurate that it kills the likeness of the character or anything, I just wonder where the idea even came from.
>>
>>5686696
>>Why did they decide to make it silver anyway?

my question is "Why is it blue?"

Was Jazz ever blue? I think his Actionmaster toy had blue, but does that count really?
>>
>>5686694
This is a troll picture right?
>>
>>5686703

Yeah that's true also. I think the Fall of Cybertron toy is blue too.
>>
>>5686694

Probably just an angry Jazz fan. I love Jazz as well and a lot of my issues with the GT proto are covered by his image.

I really don't get what they were going for. I'd buy a nice Jazz as long as it was trying to resemble something - cartoon, one of the many toys, Marvel comics, movie inspired... but this is so wide off the mark.

And fuck that car mode is sloppy.
>>
>>5686787
isn't it based on the toy but with a new alt mode?

i see what you mean tho, they took some liberties.

For me, the blue has to go, the shoulder cannons have to go, and Jazz really deserves a more handsome face sculpt
>>
>>5686635

I don't really have plans to buy it either way, I was speaking more in terms of general critique of how successful it is at what it sets out to do.

IE, if it's intended as a Masterpiece replacement, it's not good because it doesn't have the right aesthetics.

Not sure about the difference being hard to notice for a Classics collection, I feel like the MP cars are much more small voyager than anything. I don't collect MPs though, so I haven't had a lot of comparison experience.
>>
Since IF made notSlammer and notSixgun for Metroplex, do you think they'll make a notCog for the new TR FortMax?
>>
>>5686833
maybe x2toys can get off their asses and make Shaft already...
>>
>>5686842

Yes please. And not for the new guy, either.
>>
>>5686833

I feel like when they first started up "they go well with Metroplex" was the excuse they needed to make legends figures, but now that they have established themselves to the extent that they have, I think they'd get less sales by doing that than they would just continuing to do what they've been doing lately and making regular characters people care about in legends scale. A better Fort Max choice for them would be to just make a little IDW Fort Max to go with their Overlord.

No. Hercules was great for its time but still has joint problems. Everything since has been off. Their Defensor was solid if you could stomach the aesthetic though. Their not MP releases are hot garbage. No one remembers they did a reflector before it was cool because it was shit. Hades and Neptune are looking like some sort of quality bump.

>>
>>5688270

>>
>>5688171
I have Hercules and 4/6ths of Hades and I can pretty much say that anything else they've put out is not really worth it (and buying Hercules now in 2016 might not be a logical move either).

Herc was really nice at the time and has aged decently (the combined mode has aged better than the individual robots in my opinion). But when you compare him to other cheaper or more modern Devastators, he doesn't hold up that well right now. If you could get one used for under $350, maybe, but not at the full $600ish full price.

Hades on the other hand is just amazing. Smart, modern engineering. Solid build, characterful headsculpts. The only real downside is some questionable use of clear plastics (mostly on Cerberus). I have heard of some QC issues with the combining of the two torso bots, but didn't experience it myself, and you should be able to get an exchange if they don't work right anyway (maybe consider getting those two from a local seller just in case). Hades is shaping up to be one of my favorite combiners and I can't recomend him enough.

As for their King Poseidon, I'd wait until we see the full team. I have much more faith in them now, but I personally can't commit until I see their Snaptrap/Turtler, as he's going to be crucial to the look and stability of the combiner. After how they dropped the ball on Silverbolt, I'm a bit apprehensive.

>>5688269
>>5688270
>>5688278
I have Grant and I think he may have literally zero paint apps. Still nice. The one place you really miss paint though is on the head, as his head is all grey without any of the green that should be there.

I mean, if a company is good right now I can only imagine that that arrangement would end up making them worse because they'd have rules to follow that they currently don't. >>

DX9, because seeing the war in pocket line go offical and get in-store releases would be crazy
>>
>>5688870
Yeah, I suppose what I meant was that the company would maintain autonomy but would gain the official license (and all the perks that go with it) and the staff would work alongside Takara's team to collaborate on stuff. So for example, suppose Takara were releasing an MP Megatron 2.0- Hasui or whoever does the engineering these days would work with the Maketoys dudes to design and engineer it. Meanwhile Maketoys would still release their own high-end stuff with their own style, albeit as a licensed third party (and thus they'd be allowed to add insignias and official names).
>>
>>5688828
>>5688825
Let's replace "official" with "dedicated", meaning a forum primarily and almost exclusively for that one topic.
>>
>>5688844
Honestly, none of them.

Third Parties work because they can make toys under any budget without child safety laws. If you put them under the same constraints as HasTak people, they wouldn't be able to make anything significantly more. The only difference might be character choices.

I'm happy to have both HasTak making cheaper, simpler, mainline stuff and third parties to fill in the obscure, the amazingly complex, and the stuff that just won't sell at Wal-mart (like an electric chair).

They just have a REALLY spotty track record when it comes to overall quality. When they first showed up their plastics were horrible and everything was a floppy mess, which soured a lot of people on them. At some point I think they upgraded the plastics but the floppy mess problem sometimes persists, along with other things.

Also basically everything they make looks like complete shit but that's just my personal opinion lol.

Partsforming isn't the issue, every modern Devastator is disproportionate. The real issue is idiots who want to prioritize individual mode proportions and scale even though 95% of Devastators will be displayed combined 95% of the time.

Gravity Builder looks just fine and that uses almost no partsforming. Sure it's not 100% GEEWUN but that beats half the fucking toy being literally useless when not in a certain mode. I wouldn't mind so much if the parts actually did something, but no. They don't do shit.

This isn't the 80s anymore. We have the engineering skills to work around useless combiner kibble. There is literally no excuse for such excessive and badly implemented partsforming.
>>
>>5692064
Yes he looks good but what about articulation and stability? The combined modes articulation doesn't impress me at all when you compare him to TW. Stability we'll have to wait and see on that one.

Though I will say I'm worried about Longhauls joints over time with all that weight. With TW you don't have to worry about that. The pros of partsforming outweigh the negatives in this case. I guess in your case though boxing three pieces when not in use is just terrible.

I own a 600 dollar set of six toys that combine to form one big guy. I do not own a 600 dollar giant action figure that just happens to also be 6 other guys.

To me, play value is high, and having to build my combiner like a lego kit is not fun. It's really not an exaggeration to say half the TW combiner is just extra shit that does nothing in any other mode. It's not really a transformer at that point so much as a freaking kit.

I appreciate good engineering. Having a combiner be the sum of six robots (within reason) is part of why I shell out 600 dollars for them.

He's as articulated as he is because of partsforming. He's as tall as he is because of partsforming. The most baffling thing about him is that he looks like lanky garbage because of partsforming.

It's just cheating. They're doing it differently and I get that but he's just not a transformer at that point. They really could have made a giant perfectly articulated and accurate G1 devastator action figure and you would have the same result.

Sick rebuttal. I'm surprised you didn't post a fedora image and tell me to go back to plebbit.

I don't just set and forget my transformers. I constantly move them around their displays, transform them, pose them, etc. My combiners might stay in combined mode for a month at least before I decide to display them in vehicle mode or whatever suits my fancy.

This is non-conducive to having a gigantic deva-dick, gorilla arms, and a whole head just laying around in a ziplock bag. That's fucking retarded.
>>
>>5692748

There's different degrees of partsforming. I understand the engineering necessity of having forearm bits and maybe separate feet pieces in combined mode but I do need them to go somewhere or do something.

I'm confused as to what you're arguing. You claim horrible shoulder articulation yet you post a picture of Gravity Builder with his shoulders up WAY farther than TW's Devy can.

Also, what do you mean by
>Save for the tread bros everyone else still transforms into their respective pieces in dev mode.
Both GB and TW have the treaded bots becoming the upper arms of Devistator like they're supposed to with the forearms being separate parts. At least with GB, they become power generators that the treaded bots can haul in alt mode or wear as backpacks in bot mode if you don't want them sitting off doing nothing.

With TW Devy, you literally don't have a choice as the forearms AND the entire hip assembly are separate pieces with no extra functions.
>>
>>5693393
Test shots are usually painted and cast in the intended color plastics to see how the final product might hold up so they know if further tweaks are needed. That is an unpainted prototype.
>>
>>5693414
GT shoulder articulation breaks up the sculpt and doesn't look natural. As for the arms I was referring to your comment where you basically called this set a giant action master.

Which is an exaggeration as each bot dose what its supposed to do. I'm just going to agree to disagree with you and move on. The GT set looks nice and I admit dose somethings better than TW. However to me he appears to be Giant up scaled. Mind Giant is looks good but that's it. He's no fun to mess with and at his best just standing there.

>>
>>5693743

>>
>>5693499

Each bot does not do what it's supposed to do, as the bots fail to transform into Devastator without half of the figure being separate pieces. TW Devastator is a lego kit.

Criticizing GT Devastator is a butthurt tu quoque that has nothing to do with TW Devy looking like hot garbage. I'm not even comparing the two, in fact I'm not even comparing TW devastator to any other Devastator. It's also a complete exaggeration to call him a statue as he's as poseable as most other combiners.

TW Devy is, in a vacuum, completely garbage. He's barely a transformer. He's an oversized lego kit with terrible proportions despite partsforming, and in fact, it's because of the bolted on pieces is why he looks so garbage.

The fact that you're practicing so much damage control about partsforming of all things tells me that you're just so sour with buyers remorse that you'll eat up whatever shit your delt because you've already invested.

Partsforming is objectively bad. TW Devastator 50% unintegrated spare parts. Poor proportions are objective bad, and TW Devastator looks like Shaq and an orangutan had a green dumpster baby.

This is way before I even consider the QC issues on the individual bots, the shit tread and mixer drum gimmicks which hinder poseability and transformations, the godawful squeaking on hip joints, the thin ass fragile elbow joints on the arm bots, the garbage proportions on every single bot so far (three mile deep legs on every member), G1 bots with a non G1 style combined mode, etc, etc, etc.

TW devastator exists for his combined mode just like Hasbro's does, but TW is so incompetent that he can't even get there without having to be built with parts. It's embarrassing.

I wanted him to be good so badly. The headsculpts are gorgeous. I love the size of the thing. It's as G1 as third party is gonna get, but everything else is so completely shit that I just couldn't do it.
>>
>>5693777
>Partsforming is objectively bad.
Nope.
>>
>>5693796

Good argument.

There's a consensus that partsforming is bad within the hobby because Transformers are supposed to change without having to pull it all appart to reassemble it. This isn't the 80's anymore. We can engineer Tf's to go from one thing to another without having a bunch of extra garbage.

I can tolerate having feet pieces for combiners if they do something in other modes. The serve a purpose in stability of the combined mode.

TW is half partsforming because doing it right would be too hard. It's shit.

>Gravity Builder looks just fine and that uses almost no partsforming. Sure it's not 100% GEEWUN but that beats half the fucking toy being literally useless when not in a certain mode. I wouldn't mind so much if the parts actually did something, but no. They don't do shit.
Well that's the cool thing, we have different options to suit different tastes.

The one on the right has been photoshopped.

Commotus is pretty bad ass and likely the best version of turmoil we will get any time soon.

>>5694053
I know that but the pics below aren't and show the shoulders sitting up more making him looks better.

I'm not crazy for wanting this upscaled to Leader class and tweaked/touched-up a bit in order be a stand-in for an MP Megatron, right? It'd be leaps and bounds ahead of my apollyon simply for having working tolerances and a transformation that... works, actually.

The extra parts aren't integrated in any way, shape, or form in addition to comprising a greater percentage of Devastator's final form than any other combiner to date. He is literally half partsforming.

>>5693894

Long haul Transforms into half a torso as he is supposed to be what the dick piece is as well.

Hook doesn't integrate the head.

The arm bots are really just shoulders.

The bigger issue is his disproportionate right collar area being much thinner than his left.

Fucking.
Pounds.

How are you supposed to play with something that heavy? Feral Rex gives me enough trouble and he's nowhere near that weighty.
>>
>>5694302
Rex has shitty joints though.

I have utopia as well and he's way easier to pose / transform.
>>
>>5694322

Since when? Mine are nice and heavy. It's more of just the ordeal of having to deal with posing something that big and weight.

Word on the street is they're doing Superion next.

I'd buy two

for what purpose? everyone has the official one by now

give me liokaiser!
>>
>>5694379
That'd be fantastic if it happens. Superion needs some love considering he's only gotten one fairly mediocre 3P release, and the CW toy. Liokaiser can wait, haha.

So, after owning both sets of Constructicons, (Toyworld and Generation Toy) I think im going to sell the Generation toy bots.

Nothing wrong with them, honestly they probably have the better QC of the two sets, but I like the scale and aesthetic of TW just a little more. If anyone wants Bonecrusher, Mixmaster, and Scavenger Ill hook you up with a good price.
>>
>>5694707

What were the QC issues with TW?
>>
>>5694707
I might be interested in the Mixmaster. Mind if I ask what price you were thinking of?
>>
>>5694078
Nice, try to say something related next time.
>>
>>5694720
dont worry. next time you're wasting your time arguing for no fuckin reason, i'll keep my lips sealed.
>>
CW Superion with the PE kits is already pretty good and TFC Liokaiser has actually been great so far.

Bruticus is in dire need of a good update. Colossus just doesn't cut it anymore.
>>
>>5694714
Im selling all 3 for $220 shipped, OR $80 each.

>What were the QC issues with TW?
Nothing major. My mixmaster was missing a thumb (chosen prime already replaced it). Some people have had some cracked elbows, but I havnt seen it on mine.
