For those unfamiliar, "Plamo" is a shortened form of "plastic model." If it's made of plastic, someone can probably help you here.

If you use the AC Gaim Orange as the base and build the Ball around it, I'd say easier than the other way around.

Thanks for the OP pic again, Gelgoog Guy. I just wish I took better some better photos or didn't mess up as much to really show off more stuff. I just got the lighting improved on them too.
>>
>>5685938
aww why'd you have to use the one where the silvering's so obvious
>>
What's your guys' opinion on painting eyes/lenses if the piece is clear? I usually just use clear green/whatever color and call it a day, but it always turns out dim since there's no light to show it off. Would it be better to just make the color opaque?
>>
>>5686054
They had these little claw things originally in Origin. IIRC the white base ones get GM hand upgrades at Jaburo.
>>
>>5686081
>but it always turns out dim since there's no light to show it off. Would it be better to just make the color opaque?

Paint the part behind it or the backside silver. It will catch the light better even in dim light.
>>
>>5686094
This. This is the fucking key. If there's no detail behind the lenses/visor, you can even do stuff like use silver leaf or chromey foils to create different reflective effects.
>>
>>5686094
>>5686169
Hmm, I guess I never thought that a silver/chrome behind the clear piece would be any different than clear on silver on regular plastic like usual. I can see it now that so if it's clear paint>clear piece>chrome/silver, there's still some depth that can be shown through the clear. I'll try that out. Thanks!

Anyone know if you can preorder the SRDS cybaster premium version other than from koto jp store?

Oh shit i fucked up, after spraying some metallic lacquer paint my airbrush suddenly stop spraying paint. It blows air out of the tip AND up the paint cup as if i was covering its tip, paint doesn't come out anywhere. Anyone know why and how to fix this?
>>
>>5686328
Have you tried, you know, disassembling and cleaning everything?
>>
>>5686328
nozzle is blocked by dried paint i'd say, it can get a little air out but what it can't is going up into the paint cup and causing bubbles

disassemble and do a full clean, i don't want to accuse you of anything but you didn't clean it properly or you left it too long after painting to clean it, this wouldn't happen when you're just swapping paint mid airbrush session

>>
>>5686654
Why they changed the peg system of having the female end inside the hips and the male end on the leg part I don't know.
Also makes it hard to fix or fabricate a part ahead of finishing since you can't just cut out the old peg and put a metal rod in it's place. It'll just stress the rest of the J4 piece.
Not like you can loosen the polycap in the leg either.

Where should I go about buying 1/144 resin conversions? I've heard that E2046 has bad recasts and I would prefer to not use a middleman service.
>>
>>5687407
Another thing, is there any conversions for the wing MG's to their TV versions?
>>
So how do i brighten clear pieces, such as the translucent orange chest part on the gouf? would painting the back side of it silver help?
>>
>>5687407
What are you looking for? Honestly in a lot of cases you don't have many choices when it comes to resin conversion kits. They're not plentiful and many of them come from the same shitty HK recasters since a majority of existing convo kits are well out of official production.
>>
>>5687451
I was looking for something that would serve as a good gateway to full resin kits, preferably some type of MSV or other obscure kind of design.

Depends on what you mean by brighten up, but painting either the backside or the part behind it silver should work, and I'd actually recommend frosting it with top coat, it'll catch the light and glow from any angle

The picture's not the best but it worked great on my Portent, but it did come with reflective stickers and is better designed for it, the gouf parts may be harder to brighten up, the revive has some thick edges and not much empty space

Thinking of doing a D.Va MEKA scratchbuild. Would an inner frame be unviable? It'd need to be done in the legs but I'm thinking the torso might be easier to just have layered plaplate and epoxy sanded into a dome of sorts.
>>
>>5688292
I've already thought about it and found it too much a pain in the ass to do for a fotm character. Some of the aquatic suits might be a good base to start from like the hygogg, triple barrel shotguns from the powered gm cardigan, thighs from a zaku, graze legs for the upper leg etc.

Just make a D.va themed gerbra tetra and be done with.

What's the general consensus of Barbatos 6th form? Both 1/100 and 1/144. I'm not a fan of IBO outside of Grimgerde, and I dislike the club it comes with, but something about a high heel mech gets perverse amusement out of me. How customizable are the legs on the 1/144? Need help guys. I'm going to spray paint for the first time using Tamiya spray cans which I understand are synthetic lacquer. I need to know are 3M respirator masks compatible with all types of filters?

I have this respirator kit at home:
http://www.homedepot.com/p/3M-Medium-Mold-and-Lead-Paint-Removal-Respirator-6297PA1-A/202078789

I know those filters aren't enough so I was looking to purchase these: http://www.amazon.com/dp/B0013A7MBQ/#Ask

Will my mask be compatible with those filters listed on amazon or do I have to buy a new mask too? Thanks for the help guys.

They're good kits. Pretty much all the IBO kits have been great, especially the ones with full inner frame.

My only complaint about barbatos is that he has a ton of tiny color apps everywhere to paint in that you don't notice at first until you start really looking at the lineart, and then you finish and topcoat and realize that you missed a couple.
>>
>>5689731
That I'll definitely do. Just thought I needed a respirator regardless.
>>

Yes, they are compatible. Here's the kin dI use

and as long as it's P100 and says it filters "Organic Vapors" then you're good. You would probably be fine with those ones you linked.
>>
>>5689748

Acrylic paints are the most beginner friendly. In terms of brushes, I've seen Red Sable sized 10/0, 5/0, 0, and 1 brushes recommended for painting smaller details.

Hey, peeps.
After reading so much about panel washes in here and other forums, I decided to go to the hobby shop and pick some up. I was told by the guy working at the local hobby store that since I'm just going to panel line and then clear coat, I should use Vallejo Panel Wash, since it already comes thinned and what not.

So I have a small jar of that and want to panel line an unpainted kit. Do I just let the Vallego Panel Wash do its thing and then spray some matte coat on the kit after? Or did I already fuck up by buying that?
>>
>>5690377
Use that, clean up the excess as instructed, wait to dry then top coat.

Hey guys, I got a TomyTec My Little Armory M41 and as I start assembling it I noticed that the pieces wouldn't quite get stuck together on their own. Looking at the back of the box I noticed that there is a small glue look-a-like thingy on it together with the scissor and "needed materials".

Thanks in advance and sorry for the "off topic"

Vallejo is one of the best beginner acrylic for hand painting and it can be thinned with water too for the extra cheap among us. The biggest downside to Vallejo is how weak the paint is when cured. It will scratch up extremely easily, even when top coated. But for the most part that hasn't been too big a problem for me.
>>
>>5690819
Just a heads up in case ya did not realize it, but the liger image you put in there is not a model kit but a action figure. Made by the same company as the hmm kits though which is a good thing, and have yet to hear many complaints about it. Yeah, mines do that too, flick back into place. If they're sable hair brushes then they should be fine. My daler rowney one's synthetic but it tries to replicate sable hair.

How necessary is painting when it comes to gunpla?

The guide makes it seem entirely optional but i'm curious how well a gunpla model turns out without any real painting.

I plan on panel lining, and maybe some light touch up work if I have to, but this is my first Gunpla build (HGUC 1/144 Zeta Gundam, for anyone curious) and I feel like it would be better to get a feel for building them before jumping into painting.

Not that painting intimidates me, i've been building and painting scale military models since I was a wee lad, but if it's not really required i'm thinking of just skipping painting because all my paints are Tamiya acrylics for military models and not bright shiny gundam colours in enamel or lacquer.

Photos any kind anon has of non-painted Gunpla would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks, not really sure yet. I kind of work on whatever part I feel like I have an idea for that might fit with my overall theme/goal or what I've done already with other parts.

For this kit I kind of have some older looking decals that I hope to give this kit a mix of modern touches and okawara MSV era markings. I still have to see if that will work out though.

>>5692302

The thighs were cut down and thinner styrene put in to lower the surface. The parts below the knee were large strips of thin styrene with the corners cut to the taper, I glued the entire thing to the leg then waited a day and cut it from behind. This was much easier because the added part ends in a very fine point above the knee covering there, and it could have looked really sloppy when the knee was bent. The little latch looking things are made of the same thickness of styrene, but a smaller square is underneath the rectangle to bridge the distance from the piece on top to the leg below.

Yes, but that's par for the course with Japanese companies, slowly drip feed your customers with limited runs to ensure maximum price and as little stuff on store shelves as possible to devalue your product in sales. But they must be noticing that Chinese companies are stepping up with their bootlegs to fill a need the Japanese companies won't. He'll, some like DM aren't even pretending to be Bandai and have their own unique box art and do their own customizations.
Bandai and kotobukiya needs to take a serious look at what Tamiya has been doing for ages now.

theres 2 armosoldier kits in stock at HLJ by wave (pic related)

If you want the transforming bikes theres a lot of older kits on mandarake. Not too sure how good they are but theres a fair amount of them out there.

Anybody here own the Jahannan from G-Reco? Thoughts please? Might give it to a friend as a first seam weld/paint practice model but am unsure of the quality.

I get what you mean with companies like Model Comprehend filling gaps in the gundam market with impressive quality stuff like the rx93 ground gundam and doing their chinese IP like the earth guardian (which is a damn good kit), but, like >>5692998 asked, what have Tamiya been doing differently?

I have one and the joints have gotten super lose. Had it for almost a year I think and the waist basically folds over. But it has some nice nub placement.

The joints are shit. Whenever I try to pose it itakes a split and the waist just can't hold the upper part in its place. Probably can be fixed with some cement in the joint to make it tighter. I was thinking about fixing an painting mine soon. Pic is my snapfitted no sticker abomination in the only pose I can make with it

Does anyone know which Tamiya cans best match Gato's Rick Dom/Gelgoog colorscheme? I know someone here was painting one in those colors and the colors he used were pretty good matches.

Will be nice blog posting.
First glances though, it's nice that the canopy's frame is pre-painted and undergated along the paint. I'll be washing every part, there were a couple of mold release smudges on the runners (no more than five total).
There's also a bit of flash on this. It's all very very tiny slivers but its there. It's not much of a problem though as their PS feels (and cuts) just a little softer than Bandai's did when I was doing the HG Barbie.

Bb senshi barbatos. Looks like it's a recast of the ex standard(source: look at the mace it has the same gimmick as the ex standard) at least it has some extra parts to make the other forms. And im still hoping that the legs are not hollow
