I know that most wont agree - but i wish EAH would go more color oriented like the Birthday pieces - extreme colors in hair and outfits etc. I feel like EAH could embrace the color more. Though i do know that EAH does have the princess stuff, it's themes and designs are at times off the wall. Spring Unsprung could have been a lot more colorful but with less clashing prints with black.

I reckon we'll see some cross-pollination soon enough. The EAH heads are getting more streamlined, and the MH heads and bodies are getting chunkier. Transition between the two is getting easier and easier.
Frankly, I wouldn't mind seeing a "monstrous" Briar covered in thorns, or Kitty with an even creepier grin and actual cat features, or Raven going extra-goth with some creepier motifs. But who knows when that'll actually happen.

I don't know how well they're selling but they have another line (so far there's been the regular line, coronation wear line, and genie chic line) being released this summer or fall.
I think the franchise is fairly popular (the book sold very well, sequel book on the way, movie was popular though not well made, sequel movie is coming, etc etc) but the dolls... not so much. The franchise seems most popular with tweens and very young teens, who just aren't buying the dolls.
The dolls themselves are nice if you like the designs. I'd get them online so they're cheaper.

The problem with Descendants dolls is the quality or the dolls and outfits are incredibly bad for a Disney doll. The cloths are really plastic and cheap. Well, the dolls themselves have a lot of joint issues and damage right out of the box. Total waste of money from what I have heard.

I haven't heard too much about joint issues, but I know a lot of people have had problems with the doll's hair. I only bought Coronation Mal, Lonnie and Evie, and theirs is fine except Evie's is a bit frizzy. Hmm, the clothes don't feel plastic at all to me--unlike the Hasbro Disney Princess dolls--maybe they changed the material for the second run?

The only thing worse is the bigger heads. The clothes materials are meh but for $8 dolls I don't expect much, at least they aren't using molded bodices for the basic line. Hasbro is actually releasing all the princesses, who look distinct and more like their cartoon counterparts, unlike what Mattel devolved into in the end.

Well the truly plastic outfits were mostly for the boy dolls of the line with hardly any joints in the dolls. The problem with the girls is the material used in outfits are really rough to the touch and are inferior in design to say from Ever After High and not as tough too. Go to Froggy Stuff on YouTube they have a review of the dolls from the first run and they had quality issues with some of the dolls they bought.

I work for the UK's biggest retailer and we just reset our huge toy aisle in my store and things I noticed:
>Disney Princess dolls have a much larger shelf space.
>Frozen range has shrunk.
>The small range of Ever After High has been removed entirely.
>Bratz have been also removed.
>Monster High which had a huge amount of space is now reduced to two basic budget lines (Wave 1 originals rereleases and another line which had a 'new' Gigi doll in some really cheap dress and that is it.
>Barbie shelf space has increased.
Other things being that Marvel, Lego and Star Wars have also increased but not sure what has been removed since I don't really pay attention to boy toys.
For the UK market at least, here is a glimpse of the doll market right now.

i'm not surprised, it's been 3 years and despite efforts from disney it's just not as popular as it used to be. plus they've been meaning to incorporate anna and elsa into the core princess line up for a while but frozen was too busy being its own line.

from parents and society in general that wants little girls to be princesses, so people buy them princess books, outfits, have them watch princess movies, etc. Plus a lot of little kid's shows (and let's be honest everyone has the TV babysit at least once a day) have princesses and kids like to emulate their favorite shows.

Haven't seem them here yet, are they supposed to replace the vinyl figures? I still have quite a few to get and for some reason only the first wave is still on shelves, minus Draculaura who seems to be rarer than the chaser version.
