I'm starting to think my entire collection has been flavor of the month.
>>
i get super butthurt when no one ever leaves a message in the BST saying what a cool seller i am
>>
I used to shitpost the board with empty threats and tried to make /toy/ bend to my will but my ass was handed back to me. I pretended to leave the board like a winner.
But I still post here and behaving well because I have no friends and my mind is not healthy.
This is all I have and the hope that everyone will forget how badly I sperged and shamed myself online.

When I get into something the very first thing I do is look up the toys of it.

I came here originally as I was interested in video game toys.

People who buy flavor of the month/"meme" toys are scum.
>>
I don't debox my dolls. Part of me knows that I get more enjoyment out of them when I debox and display them with stands. And the other part doesn't want to debox in case I ever want to sell them.
>>
I sell a lot of toys on eBay. Before I pack every purchase I place the toy in between my butt cheeks and swipe it up and down, like a card reader. I have to image 300+ toys in the continental US have my fecal matter on them.
>>
I don't collect toys I just find a lot of the communities here really fascinating i the same way I look at r9k
Im pretty sure there are a good number that go to both.

No where is that phrase posted with any amount yet here it always comes up when a post is made that could be taken as offensive to toy buyers.
Is it just one anon that posts here that much?

Why? They're not necessarily bad but they're so repetitive, especially slower boards like this. I can't imagine it being that fascinating for long unless you actually take interest in the subject discussed.

Not likely to happen, Greg.

Go to therapy, take your meds, work on being a healthy, functioning human being - and when you make it, change your name. I'm serious.
>>
>>5659428
hi, Jin. Let me fix that to reflect the truth

I used to shitpost the board with empty threats and tried to make /toy/ bend to my will but my ass was handed back to me, even when I fake apologized and tried to accuse others of doing my shitposting. I pretended to leave the board like a winner when in fact my name and trip were banned.
But I still shitpost here because God is very real and Hitler was great, and because /toy/ is my bitch. Trayvon was a thug.
I seem myself as superior to everyone, I DO work for Hasbro, and you can bend over and kiss my butt because I'm better than you. I will never change and you are all autistic. Hasbro and Neca are aware I am a white supremacist and fully endorse my views, and Hasbro laughs at adult men buying ponies.

Slow board keep my attention longer for a few reasons. They take longer to progress (example if I posted this on /v/ and check now the thread would have been gone) but a bigger one is you get a much clear vision of the community. Smaller number and it makes it harder to stir the pot you pretty much just watch one person egg on one person and it's interesting to watch the weir tug of war where you can math out one person wasted approximately over 3 hours in a 5 hour span just to fight one point. The weirdest here was in a Transformer general where it was likely just one anon (made the same grammatical errors every post) fought for two threads straight that some toy wasn't a military vehicle. I won't lie, I find that fascinating due to the nature of the anonymous, was he drunk? did that toy mean that much to him? Was he just a high school student stuck at home for a day with nothing better to do then fight on the internet? Was he Chris-can levels retarded and didn't processes one could agree to disagree? I can't get this kind of detailed look at say /v/ where it's far to fast to watch unfold due to my work(and in turn this technically relates to my work as a counselor.) so this place takes an interest to me quicker.
>>5660075
I don't see it happen on other boards to this frequency but I confess I can't say I lurk the faster boards enough to claim I get there culture, /v/ and /b/ more so since the turn overrate of threads makes it rather hard to pin posters or even get a good hive mind of the group. My point was less to say you are 1 for 1 to r9k but rather you both have very dedicated posters that seem to post round the clock and again, some posters here seem to be almost 1 for 1 in the same errors and typing style.

I came here to track down some grails, but developed an irrational hatred of a certain variety of spoonfeeder in the process. This led to the creation of an alter ego that I used to troll the aforementioned spoonfeeders, but all that led to was me collecting Figuarts, SIC and gunpa. So uh, thanks?

other student: -contributes to what professor really meant- "there is a sculpture garden in xxx..."

oof that's rough

sorry to hear that man, hopefully you won't have to run into any of them in other classes

>>5661550
modern art is still art. you don't have to "get it" for it to be art. toy sculpture can be art too, i'm not dismissing that at all. but it's important to distinguish between something that has technical merits and something that is trying to convey meaning.
>>
>>5661535
That sucks, but tou should get back up on that customizing horse. I guarantee that everyone who laughed also started out making shitty customs too. Like most things, it's not a gift you're born with, but a skill you have to hone.

I lurk on the monster high threads, like the concept and some of the designs, found about the anime and fell in love with a couple of characters, have tried to get some but I just can't do it because "dolls are for gurls", maybe if they looked like the anime or had something like a figma..
>>
>>5661550
A scale replica of an object is always going to be viewed differently than some unique large scale design. The small scale mock ups of larger art sculptures get no attention either.

You should never try to compare your Hot Toys or Figuarts to an Antony Gormley or Henry Moore piece. They are vastly different things even while sharing elements.

I don't even know where to begin.
I only started collecting when I was starting college. This was almost 20 years ago, as the toy industry was really blowing up.
I have spent thousands on figures over many years. I had a blog for action figures and had regular traffic of ~5000 people a day. This was long before YouTube, so the community was so different. There was no /toy/ but the community was so tight. It was great. You had so much interaction with every level, and there was a different attitude.
So, it was a great time being full of disposable income. I can't even remember most of the collection, but I had full runs of figures - ReSaurus's Resident Evil, Sonic, the full SOTA Street Fighter, all sorts of imports from Kaiyodo and Epoch. I had prototypes of figures that were never released... I had a prototype for a figure from the game Gladius that was the only packaged test shot ever made - I had game developers asking if they could have it. Wow, just remembering all the stuff I had...
...
And one day, in a bad moment, I chucked it all into a dumpster. So much regret.

>>
I caught some heat at one point because I bought a prototype that the seller didn't realize was unreleased. It was a set of figures that the designer, who also sold toys, had at a convention. I snagged it for $20, and afterward was asked politely to never mention to the company that I had it.
Of course I showed it off to fellow collectors.
I eventually sold it for a few hundred dollars, but the legend of it on the forums was wonderful.
>>
>>5662488
Also, was partially responsible for getting Jin banned from The Fwoosh and action-figure.com because he didn't like the Guilty Gear figures from Epoch, and because, well, his being Jin.

Probably half of my collection was stolen. I used to steal full DCUC waves at once without even trying. I walked out of a store with a giant boxset with a receipt for only a Dr Pepper in my hand. I directly caused multiple TRU's to install more cameras. After traveling across the country and stealing Marvel Universe figures to fund it, I have little doubt that I may have killed the line at retail with my acts. I eventually got caught and my fine was $500. Considering I had stolen $10k+ I wasn't even bothered by it. I got to do so much stuff on Walmart/TRU's dime and I don't even feel bad.

When I was about 18, I once found a Movie Masters Heath Ledger Joker by Mattel in a Target store, hidden behind a bunch of other figures. I grabbed it but kept browsing other sections of the store with the figure in hand. Soon I realized that some kid (probably 12-13 yrs. old) was following me. I thought it was just a coincidence at first but the kid literally stalked me from a fair distance while constantly eying me. T'was pretty entertaining but also sort of fucked up that he followed me everywhere including the game and book section of the store, all because he probably hid the figure himself.

I use toys as a way to try and calm my crippling anxiety because I am a total NEET. Spending a half hour+ posing some figures is one of the few things that can help calm my irrational, fucked up brain for a few moments.

Taking advantage of the lax security that tend to be in comic shops, me and a friend stole thousands of dollars worth of figures, comics, etc. from comic shops across multiple states. We'd literally just up and walk with hundreds of dollars of merch right out the door. We'd drive miles away to comic shops far from us, sometimes even states away. We'd sometimes scope out these shops for days in advance, taking note of the quickest routes out of the store, the most valuable pieces, etc. we got more and more elaborate over time, too, using disguises and make-up, even though it wasn't really needed, in all honesty. Sometimes we'd involve another friend to serve as distraction.

We even used to deal the figures at toy conventions. I still make money off a few things I've kept and resold years later.

Studied his pieces for some wire sculptures. Helped a lot for inspiration.

On topic, sometimes I look at my collection and wonder if I keep buying things just to fill an empty hole in my life.

Please, do go on. My stash spots used to be G1 Soundwave, Marvel Select Elektra's base, and Toybiz Sentinel's chest (not the BAF)

Not sure where there would be a spot in Animated Bulkhead. Unless you were talking about the Leader, I don't have it so can't attest.

When Bulkhead (Voyager) is in Robot Mode just pull the back down and put it in the gap. for the Others,

CW Ultra Magnus
Generations Brainstorm
CW Hotspot
G1 Optimus

Basically any transformers with at least a square inch of empty space within them.

Ive been cheating on my girlfriend for the past 7 years with another girl, and I dont know who I should go for at this point.

Also, I keep buying toys and I honestly dont feel anything after receiving them
>>
>>5670825
Go for both.
>>
>>5670826
I wish it were that easy. Current gf is a "highschool sweet heart" that I got together with 3 years after graduation and the girl I've been seeing on the side is someone Ive known since childhood, whom we knew there was something, but timing just never worked out.

>>5670856
Yes she does and we do talk about our own relationships often.

I convinced my ex to get into FLCL and waited until the right moment to mention how much I wanted a Canti figure. Sure enough a few days later I was holding a $120 figure in my hands and I didn't pay a cent for it. I felt like a douche for letting my ex spend that much money on me, but she ended up cheating on me so I guess it all worked out in the end...
>>
>>5670866
Sounds like a win to me.
>>
>>5670869
Yeah, I guess having to move out of the apartment we lived in together and losing my dog was worth it in the end for a toy of a robot...
>>
>>5670865
So she's also cheating on someone?
>>
>>5670825
You're a scummy slut and so is the girl you're having an affair with.
>>
>>5670872
Yes, we each have our own that we are cheating on. Its not a great situation at all to be in.
>>
>>5670878
So then get out of it. Tell your girlfriend the truth and try to work passed it.

He doesn't know which he wants.
>>
>>5670887
That's not how it works. If he started cheating on his girlfriend then he never wanted her in the first place. He has no right to play with people's emotions like that. People like that are trash.
>>
I'm a poorfag.

I'm not saying he's not scummy but that doesn't really make sense.

Speaking of relationships
I had an exgf that bought me MP-05 only to smash it on the concrete one time when we had a really big fight. And then we fought long enough for my puppy to chew all the pieces so by the end he was unsalvagable. Been thinking of making a "i still function" custom
Same girl bought me animated stealth lockdown, alternity bumblebee, henkei astrotrain, and sdcc blaster to name a few.
But i bought her one of the first run portal gun props (not the p-body/atlas version) and she kept it.. not sure if it was worth it.
>>
>>5670876
>>5670891
No, I completely understand where you are coming from and justified in calling us such. We did have many fights because of it, I guess we are both just really uncertain of the situation that we are in.and not sure how everything will go.
>>
>>5670895
It does, you're just either dumb or don't understand it.
>>
>>5670901
No, I think you're just naive.
>>
>>5670904
No. If you are in a committed, monogamous relationship there is no ethical or logical reason to cheat on your partner. He needs to stop his affair and tell her what he's been doing. THAT is the point where he gets to decide which one he wants. Not during the fucking affair.
>>
I want to dumpster dive behind TRU and other stores for the sole purpose of reselling the toys to buy things I actually want. It's not illegal in my state unless there's a lock on the dumpster or something, but I still am afraid of going through with it.

Also I have had thoughts of using one of my figures as a dildo but I didn't want to get it dirty and I would be guilty if I ever resold it or if one of my friends wanted to touch it because I keep it on my bookshelf.
>>
I got into gunpla because of an ex-gf. Breaking up with her. Now I can't build anymore and my backlog is immense. I still half-finish kits and never paint or do anything I say I'm gonna do. It's depressing. The first kit I bought I still have unfinished. I hate this. I need to just get over it. Tomorrow I'm going to just get smashed and build it out, finish a kit for once, but I figured I'd let you guys in on my stupid sad shit.

I tend to feel this way when I have to travel to a place I haven't been to in awhile or never been to.

I would feel bad as a kid that my family would always pass all these neat stores to visit a Uncle and we would spend the entire time at their house and just drive straight back home. Doesn't help that the only /toy/ related store I have is Walmart in my area.

I had tears well up when I learned Pinkie Cooper and Monster 500 were discontinued. I also cried when I realised I couldn't finish my Slimy Sludge/Monsters and Zombies in My Slimy collection because Target stopped stocking them when I had to two figures left. I am a fucking joker.
>>
1. I invented the CLICKCLICKCLICK trolling and I regret it because Revoltech is on the cusp of making some good stuff but they'll still get flak

2. I get tempbanned here on /toy/ a lot for making fun of British people. It's really bizarre, because I've made fun of Italians and Irish a lot more harshly and nothing ever happens. I think there's a British mod or janitor and they just take offense. It's fine though, I think the mod/janitor that tempbans me is one of the brits in the Neca thread and they do an okay job of keeping that thread clean

3. I've spent over $300 on junk purchases for planned custom fodder but have never completed a custom. All the figures are sitting torn apart in boxes or in baggies waiting to be used. So basically I've spent all that money on broken toys
>>
>>5671353
Sell it to me for dirt cheap. I'll live vicariously for you by having a backlog I won't finish either.

I have crippling anxiety and collect toys too. Like housebound for over half a decade level of anxiety. I've always enjoyed it and it's not the only reason I do it though. Toy hunting used to help get me motivated to go out too. You shouldn't be ashamed that you have a way to cope with it either. Every enjoys hobbies as a way to cope with real life. It's just some people's lives are less crippled with anxiety disorders.

The movie Max and Mary is about a character with aspergers. It's pretty much literally me. The reason why I bring it is that he actually collects toys too and has a good explanation why some people collect them. It's not necessarily why I do but you might find it interesting.

>1. I invented the CLICKCLICKCLICK trolling and I regret it because Revoltech is on the cusp of making some good stuff but they'll still get flak

I have a weird story about the click click click trolling. I got really high with a weird guy in his parents basement who collected Transformeres, and he had a Megatron revoltech. I was too high or autistic or something so everytime I clicked a revoltech joint it made me jump like a scared dog.

It's actually how I started collecting Revoltech, which I guess is my confession.

You need to go full Sid with those toys.

I moved about a month ago and had to pack up all my toys, which wasn't bad because most of them I still had the boxes for. Now they're all just sitting in boxes and I don't even want to put them out. I just have empty shelves surrounded by boxes full of shit I spent hundreds on and I can't be assed to unpack. I know as soon as I can see them again the urge to buy is going to skyrocket and I can't control myself. I wish I could stop collecting but it's a disease I swear.

You should guide her to photg tutorials and help her improve by telling her (gently) what you don't like about her pictures. Pad it with parts of her stuff you do like and give her suggestions to steer her in the right direction. If she responds negatively then just apologize and don't ever bring it up again.

Do what i did:
Save and buy a concept2 rowing machine, get fit. Even if you're ugly as sin a decent figure will help.
Get a job, if you're a shut in try to find something that you can do at home, webpages / coding.
SAVE SAVE SAVE, get a car and get a place, even if its a small apartment.
Keep the same number of figures as your age, sell the rest. Then when your birthday comes you get a new one.
Maintain your collection at bay, the ones you keep are going to be your rock, trust me.
If you keep this up at 40 you can kiss your life goodbye, you still have a couple of years to make it.

Oh and leave the video games, they're just shallow escapism OR keep a schedule for vidya - two hours a day or something like that.

I thought I was pretty late losing mine at 18. I have a friend who didn't lose his until he was 22, which was about six months ago in some drunken one night stand with a slutty friend of a friend. He hasn't had sex since his first time.

So here's a serious question, how do you stay a virgin for that long?

You don't go out, and when you do you don't talk to people, and when you do that you basically just make awkward small talk until they walk away.
>>
>>5675597
yeah but if he's a shut in (like i was) you hear "bodyweight routine" and you (no pun intended) shut out.

The concept2 is a low impact rower that attacks most of your body, its fun and you can do it at home, at your own pace.

NONPROTIP: row in front of a screen, put some rowing video in front of you and escape reality, it works.
