Slow board keep my attention longer for a few reasons. They take longer to progress (example if I posted this on /v/ and check now the thread would have been gone) but a bigger one is you get a much clear vision of the community. I only started collecting when I was starting college. This was almost 20 years ago, as the toy industry was really blowing up.
I have spent thousands on figures over many years. I had a blog for action figures and had regular traffic of ~5000 people a day. This was long before YouTube, so the community was so different. There was no /toy/ but the community was so tight. It was great. You had so much interaction with every level, and there was a different attitude.
So, it was a great time being full of disposable income. I can't even remember most of the collection, but I had full runs of figures - ReSaurus's Resident Evil, Sonic, the full SOTA Street Fighter, all sorts of imports from Kaiyodo and Epoch. I had prototypes of figures that were never released... I had a prototype for a figure from the game Gladius that was the only packaged test shot ever made - I had game developers asking if they could have it. Wow, just remembering all the stuff I had...
...
And one day, in a bad moment, I chucked it all into a dumpster. So much regret.

Probably half of my collection was stolen. I used to steal full DCUC waves at once without even trying. I walked out of a store with a giant boxset with a receipt for only a Dr Pepper in my hand. I directly caused multiple TRU's to install more cameras. After traveling across the country and stealing Marvel Universe figures to fund it, I have little doubt that I may have killed the line at retail with my acts. I eventually got caught and my fine was $500. Considering I had stolen $10k+ I wasn't even bothered by it. I got to do so much stuff on Walmart/TRU's dime and I don't even feel bad.

I thought it was just a coincidence at first but the kid literally stalked me from a fair distance while constantly eying me. T'was pretty entertaining but also sort of fucked up that he followed me everywhere including the game and book section of the store, all because he probably hid the figure himself.
I use toys as a way to try and calm my crippling anxiety because I am a total NEET. Spending a half hour+ posing some figures is one of the few things that can help calm my irrational, fucked up brain for a few moments.

Taking advantage of the lax security that tend to be in comic shops, me and a friend stole thousands of dollars worth of figures, comics, etc. from comic shops across multiple states. We'd literally just up and walk with hundreds of dollars of merch right out the door. We'd drive miles away to comic shops far from us, sometimes even states away. We'd sometimes scope out these shops for days in advance, taking note of the quickest routes out of the store, the most valuable pieces, etc. we got more and more elaborate over time, too, using disguises and make-up, even though it wasn't really needed, in all honesty. Sometimes we'd involve another friend to serve as distraction.
We even used to deal the figures at toy conventions. I still make money off a few things I've kept and resold years later.

I have crippling anxiety and collect toys too. Like housebound for over half a decade level of anxiety. I've always enjoyed it and it's not the only reason I do it though. Toy hunting used to help get me motivated to go out too. You shouldn't be ashamed that you have a way to cope with it either. The movie Max and Mary is about a character with aspergers. It's pretty much literally me. The reason why I bring it is that he actually collects toys too and has a good explanation why some people collect them. It's not necessarily why I do but you might find it interesting.

I have a weird story about the click click click trolling. I got really high with a weird guy in his parents basement who collected Transformeres, and he had a Megatron revoltech. I was too high or autistic or something so everytime I clicked a revoltech joint it made me jump like a scared dog.
It's actually how I started collecting Revoltech, which I guess is my confession.

I moved about a month ago and had to pack up all my toys, which wasn't bad because most of them I still had the boxes for. Now they're all just sitting in boxes and I don't even want to put them out. I just have empty shelves surrounded by boxes full of shit I spent hundreds on and I can't be assed to unpack. I know as soon as I can see them again the urge to buy is going to skyrocket and I can't control myself. I wish I could stop collecting but it's a disease I swear.

You should guide her to photg tutorials and help her improve by telling her (gently) what you don't like about her pictures. Pad it with parts of her stuff you do like and give her suggestions to steer her in the right direction. If she responds negatively then just apologize and don't ever bring it up again.

Do what i did:
Save and buy a concept2 rowing machine, get fit. Even if you're ugly as sin a decent figure will help.
Get a job, if you're a shut in try to find something that you can do at home, webpages / coding.
SAVE SAVE SAVE, get a car and get a place, even if its a small apartment.
Keep the same number of figures as your age, sell the rest. Then when your birthday comes you get a new one.
Maintain your collection at bay, the ones you keep are going to be your rock, trust me.
If you keep this up at 40 you can kiss your life goodbye, you still have a couple of years to make it.
Oh and leave the video games, they're just shallow escapism OR keep a schedule for vidya - two hours a day or something like that.
