For low tier small boxed figures it is okay, because you could feel like going through a pile in a toy store at the comfort of your own home.

I'm not trying to make fun of your collecting preferences, but what exactly do you do with your figures? Is it just having them there to be admired?

Well it started when I was in high school. I used to buy them and hang them on my wall. When I moved out I had to store them in totes which I'm not too fond of. When I eventually buy a bigger house I'm going to dedicate myself a room to hang them up again, Hell maybe even have a glass case to display them in.

I think having a wall in a room full of packaged figures would be cool, as long as they're all lined up and organized.

Do you ever take a look at the cardbacks?
>>
>>5657265
Oh absolutely. I'd do a good dusting which I hate to say isn't usually a great time because of the amount of figures I have, but I would look at the card backs and read about the characters and look at the coming soon lines. It gave me such happiness and pulling these out definitely brought back all those feels from years back.

my bookshelves are lined with figure boxes as I currently have no space to put the figures themselves.
>>
I have a bunch of MIB/MOC figures, but mostly because there's no reason to display some of them or the packaging looks too cool. Like, I bought the Wrestlemania XXX Brock Lesnar cause the box is sick and I was at that Mania, but the figure looks pretty much like any other Lesnar figure I have, so why bother opening it? Right now the house I'm in seemingly featured some meth-addled tenants so there's a bunch of random nails in the wall, so I have hella Undertakers hanging in my living room as a joke that's gone too far.
>>
You have some cool figures. Wish i started collecting before when these guys were abundant. At least i have my darth bane figure.

Why would any adult collector open the package? To play with them? It doesn't make any sense, why would you want to decrease the value intentionally?

On a side note: Op's taste is complete trash and judging from his trip it would not suprise me if he browsed the R website.
>>
>>5659542
Regarding value [assuming you mean economic or resell value], the only reason you would not want to "intentionally decrease" value is if you plan on reselling the item.

If you have no intentions of reselling the item then "decreasing the value" by opening it is irrelevant [unless, of course, we are talking about the personal value the owner places on the item being MIB--but then, that would not be the economic value of the figure because there is no intention to resell it].

And yes, many adult collectors open their toys to play with them, or to take pictures of them, etc.
>>
Plebs, the thread.

Looks like it's time for peon to start trolling his own thread. And it was actually alright there for a minute. Let the shit flinging begin.

I'm sorry my autistic habits don't match your autistic habits anon. I'll try harder next time.
>>
>>5659595
I never collected them for resell intentions. I just like the way they look in box. It's a preference thing. I have bought some figures and opened them and posed them but that was a while ago. at this point I have I just don't have the time. I wish I did. I see some of the people on this board that do cool things with their toys. Maybe one day if I find a figure I just like that much. Maybe I'll buy one of those Figurarts Storm troopers
>>
Youre shit, both for leaving your toys in the cardboard prisons and for namefagging. Kill yourself twice.

I'm so sorry I triggered you into autistic rage. You should take your meds anon. And don't trip walking down those nice carpeted steps. :-)

Woah sweet I didn't know that existed, is there a list of all the concept figs out there?

i had a plagueis, mara jade, and commander neyo in box hanging on my wall, and my friend bumped into them and they all fell off and opened. it was a major bummer.
>>
Just buy statues if you're not going to touch them. I doubt you want the resale value since you claimed that you are collecting.
>>
There's little point in opening McFarlane stuff. Half of it will break if you touch it.

I've been trying to buy all of the new hot wheels star wars ships but there are 3 or 4 that I cannot find.
>>
I just won a lot of MINT in box Kenner Predators on Ebay. I used to have a lot of them when I was a kid, sadly they all probably have been sold off in a garage sale. There's no chance I'm gonna open them, I'll probably have them next to their modern NECA counterparts
>>
I've grabbed a few MOC Spawn items lately. As much as I'd love to get a lot of those, they usually cost more to ship than the toy is worth so I limited myself to a small few. I'm not even going to open them because I have no shelf space, though it's also nice to have a stock of toys to open someday in case of boredom.

In most cases it's not even about preserving value, because if you check modern sale prices to original retail with an inflation calculator, you'll find most of these toys have lost value in a bad way.
>>
>>5664155
Damn! Nice collection. You have a few figures Ive been seaching for. Very IMPRESSIVE!!
>>
>>5657237
so do you display them, or just leave them lying around or piled up?
I cant imagine the round ones are easy to display, or even store
>>
>>5657237
I don't understand the mindset of MIB collectors. Do they think their stuff will increase in value? Do they want to make their walls look like a retail store's pegs? If it's the former, I can't believe that anyone would be dumb enough to think that Star Wars crap of all things would be valuable.
>>
>>5657237
i must admit that i have 2 rocket fire boba fetts still carded. i have a couple black series bobas that are opened, but they live in the boxes most days. my lego guys get most of the admiration and fiddling. no mib legos, thats gay as fuck.
>>
>>5675136
When I lived at my parents home I used to hang them on my walls. Now they are all in totes. When I get into a bigger place I'd love to get glass cases to really display them.

though I don't have any shelves anymore so I can't open them.

Yeah, that one Spawn has a yellowed bubble, but the camera picks it up far worse than it looks in person.
>>
>>5682738
>>5682743

Love these. Every couple of years I get the itch and it's nice knowing I can always pick up new old Spawn figures for cheap. I've opened so many of the original Spawn/Clown/Violators over the years. Feels great. Neat toys for sure.
>>
>>5682743
funny enough, that Spawn 3 seems to be prone to the inner tray part yellowing. Most of them have it. I saw one on eBay that was still clear, but the actual figure had paint scratches and the seller wanted way too much.

>>5682749
the Monevs, Goliath, Maxx and Spawn 3 are the only ones that have real value. The rest, you'd be surprised how many sellers took lowball "best offers" without hassle just to unload them.
