I really hope those thing are a lot cheaper (especially the A version doesn't seem to come with any extra junks.)

The previous releases are like 120+ a box since they are non licensed imports. The Focker edition costs even more for being a p-bandai release.

>>
>>5635815
It's not the lighting, it's the plastic. Yamato is using a slightly tinted plastic to offset any yellowing down the road, same reason Bandai isn't even using white plastic, they're just using grey plastic for their hi-metal releases.
All white plastic yellows over time.

...should I go amiami and lock in for a variation I didn't want or should I stick to the 1/60 roy focker?

I want the roy foker but the price, also whats the word on both in terms of design playability endurance over time etc

this one looks better

>>
>>5635940

>>
>>5635948
The price is a bit high but the Yamato/Arcadia molds are pretty sturdy as long as you are not thrashing about with them. Awesome quality and THE best Valks made so far. Buy it if you want.
I got the Hikaru VF-1S myself and it is beautiful. Favorite toy next to my Arcadia VF-1A Cannon Fodder.

Hi-Metal durability over time, we don't know, they haven't been out long enough with this iteration. They added some diecast in areas that didn't really need it and diecast degrades over time. I prefer the Yamatao/Arcadia molds since they are mostly plastic and have optional parts to cover up open areas in battroid mode. They also come with better hands, a real weak point with the Bandai line (they look hideous)
>>
>>5636048

You can swap out the hands thankfully. so it's a non-issue for the hi-metal line.

But I did receive my first hi-metal with stuck hand panels so I couldn't even get his hands out. That was a disappointing way to break into the line.
>>
>>5635857
A better solution might have been using UV resistant clear topcoat. It would also get rid of the bare plastic sheen
>>
>>5636088
It will still yellow as the plastic degrades over time
>>
>amiami pre-orders now closed

I should of just bit the bullet rather than stare at it
>>
>>5635789
That is simply beautiful. Just can't get over that price tag though. Stellar, but a bit rich.
>>
>>5636366
You won't get a better build/model for a lesser price. PO and save up extra cash in the meantime. I'd buy it if I didn't already have Hikaru's version. Looks like this one has more tampos though. /jelly
>>
>>5636366
The price is actually fair and cheap compare to the hi-metal Roy .
>>
Hey all, I'm a super Macross noob here, just a fair warning. I'm watching the first series atm but not far in. I saw someone post one of these in a collection thread months and months ago, and while I've gleaned it's super obscure I wondered whether there's any precedent for it being re-released or redone at some point in the future? Appreciate any insight, thanks guys.
>>
>>5636757
Possibly, depends on how long Arcadia is around for. They have the moulds, but it would have to come after more prominent valks.

We're lucky they even made a toy for a valkyrie that was only shown for FOUR SECONDS. The yamato is really nice with the second most tampo on a vf-1 after the 30th aniiversary valk. Lots of little warning labels they didn't put on the other valks.

>>5637149
Some of my yamatos are over 10 years old now and haven't noticeably yellowed.

Superb is a stretch. The frontier aesthetic got really old really fast for me. It brought a few good things to the table like variable armor, ex-gear and the vb-6 but overall the mecha were too generic 2000's anime looking and forgettable IMO.

vf-171 is more memorable with its odd shape but it's pretty much recycled from M7.

The 1/48's are still the best available if displayed in fighter or gerwalk mode and some people actually prefer the broad shoulders and correct head location of it's battroid mode. The big problem is it's not in scale with the 1/60's and there aren't any official 2 seaters.

I don't get the hate for this, but then again I WANT my macross designs to be really different. Part of the reason I think I'm underwhelmed from the Delta designs overall is that they just feel like more frontier designs. Part oft he reason I like Macross is how much designs change compared to Gundam, which sticks to templates. I love how the VF-1, theVF-19, and the VF-25 all look so different from each other. But I guess enough time hasn't passed in universe between Frontier and Delta(or in reality, for that matter) for designs to be really different.

U fkn wot m8

From all the research I've read, zinc pest only forms in zinc alloys that contain impurities of lead and other metals, so it's something that only affects certain toys instead being an indusrtywide issue. The only things made after the 50s that seem to be affected are diecast car models made by companies that're probably cutting costs in production. Not saying it will never happen, but it's nowhere near as prevalent as you're making it out to be if there are still old school chogokins with their diecast parts still intact. I haven't found any evidence of any chogokin or other robot toys with zinc pest, so I'm assuming Bandai has their shit together when it comes to choosing alloys.

Surface corrosion is still a thing, but it's only real effect is cosmetic. Plus, it can be avoided by storing your things in a cool dry enviornment and washing your greasy mitts before handling your toys, which you should be doing anyway.

I don't know if you noticed, but most stuff today is super fucking cheaply made. It's not even because of China, because even 10 years ago, products were more durable.

Shit is less durable now than it ever was because they're using cheaper materials.
Diecast from the 70s and 80s is made of different metals than today, and i mean that in plural.

Come on man, that's a completely different phenomenon that has nothing to do with corrosion. Metal whiskers are caused by stresses created by electroplating. To my knowledge, most toys with diecast are simply painted instead of being plated with something else, so that should hardly be an issue. I know the Saint Cloth Myth series has parts that are plated with copper and nickel, but so far I haven't found anything that suggests that those metals are prone to it. It can happen with zinc plating, but most toys are cast in zinc alloy instead of plated with it, so again it shouldn't be an issue.

If you have any evidence that suggests that /toy/ stuff is prone to the damage that you are talking about, please share it because I would love to read about it. But if you're going to cherry pick something that has only really affected electronics and say it applys to toys, yes you are shitposting.

Why you guys gotta be so illiterate?
The image is just to show how materials have changed in ALL our goods, as i spoke about in the bulk of my post.
So something that was made in the 70s and 80s was more durable and longer lasting, because the materials they used were pretty much the height of technology (for diecast anyway) and cost. So you got long lasting goods because they could afford to use better quality materials like copper.

So again, someone wanted to know if diecast actually has a tendency to rot or degrade in some fashion and it can. This is a truth.
The fact someone says they've had no problem is purely anecdotal and ignores the fact that diecast does rust or grade in some fashion or another.
It's also a fact that the materials they use today are cheaper, and less quality, thanks to the increase of the cost of production and materials, and also environmental laws.

I want more Macross 7 and Plus toys.
>>
>all this talk about diecast degrading over time

Let me ask ONE important question.

How many fucking years are we talking and what kind of stressers must we watch out for the following

>older toys
g1 transformers, hotwheels cars etc

>newer toys
chogokins made within the last 5 years diecast mini statues joints in the hi metal R line etc.

From a non-educated standpoint I give older toys maybe 50 years and newer shit 20 years with joints and floppiness being the first signs, I don't see them being brittle like plastic which I know will hold out far less longer (especially with gold plastic syndrome still being a thing but not able to be proven with newer toys due to age)

Enlighten me, I know in my heart everything rots, but you guys give me the impression diecast turns into dust after a year in comparison to older stuff like>>5641702
>>
>>5644200

I just want a good 21 and 171

Nevermind the reality that all these metals will oxidize. Fact of life for this and should be common knowledge.

>>5644204
>How many fucking years are we talking and what kind of stressers must we watch out for the following
Like with most degradation issues (as is the same with plastic), it's fucking random, unless it's a huge QC issue.
Living in armpit countries and areas, where heat and humidity is common place will only increase the chances.

>>older toys
As already mentioned, various laws and increasing costs has meant we've switched around the materials, and even QC, where previously solved problems using now-illegal-methords have been popping up again. Stuff like copper became too expensive to be used as much in diecast, so shit isn't as durable anymore and more likely to oxidize (faster).

As i said before, everything is so much cheaper and not as durable today.
We probably reached the high point of production methods in the 90s or early 00s.

>>5646264

>“At the beginning the arms stretched forward and linked together, so as to form the nose of the plane. However, because of these arms the design looked too fat and didn’t look much like an airplane. So one day I was fiddling with a model of an F-14 Tomcat and noticed that between the two engines was a gap. I thought maybe I could fold the arms in the gap and that ended up becoming the basis for the main design of the VF-1 Valkyrie.”

Bought it at mandarake in akiba in person, it didn't have any mention of missing parts, just that it was loose and came with the strike pack.

I'm thinking it's possible they misplaced it while packing it up for me to go cause they packed some accessories that it was on display equipped with in the same accessories baggie it was on display with.

I sent them an email in any case, hoping they actually bother checking.

I'm a bit miffed about it since gerwalk strike pack vf-1s is like my favorite thing ever, but I can't really complain about getting a 1/60 yamato for that price which was otherwise perfect save for a bit of dust.

I love Macross and am watching them all again! I don't really enjoy the later ones as much but the first three were classics! I wish they would make a show about Earth fighting off the Zentradi and getting whipped in the original timeline. Would make for a good tragic story!

Anyways, did Arcadia ever re-release the Yamato Macross Plus valks?
>>

>did Arcadia ever re-release the Yamato Macross Plus valks
I think the YF-19 is re-released like right at this moment.

http://hlj.com/product/ACA82042/Sci
>>
>>5649554
The arcadia YF-19 is an update based on the VF-19 molds from Macross 7 that Yamato did. It's a spectacular improvement, and Arcadia's YF-19 has the most accurate fighter mode of any transforming YF-19.
>>
>>5649554
But they did get whipped in the original timeline. How is losing 98% of the human population not getting whipped?
>>
>>5649637
No, I mean that they should have a story revolve around characters battling for Earth during that time. Since they get destroyed, it would make for an epic story if done with a serious tone.
>>
>>5649686
All the zentradi were in space prior to them bombarding earth so they wouldn't have anyone to battle. And a sidestory like that probably wouldn't be very popular with fans.
>>
>>5649864
There was a space battle dude. Do you even Macross?
