I'm definitely in for one of these, I'm just not sure which. I'm torn between the 'classic' Velociraptor or the beefy Atrociraptor. The jaw articulation alone sold me, most moving mouths on toys don't even bother with the flesh inside the mouth, but this guy made a simple but very efficient representation of that in toy form.
As for the feathers v 'scales' (i don't think anyone ever said dinos had scales, I thought it was just thick skin) I'm an 80s kid and I grew up with my fleshy dinos and upright T-rex. But I do love science and in science sometimes you have to abandon those theories that just don't work and accept whatever the facts point to. If signs point to these guys being 3 foot tall angry chickens then so be it. That said, as a toyline, it probably would've been smart to include at least one retro lookin raptor in the line up. The actual concept of feathered dinosaurs isn't even new, it's an idea thats been kickin about for decades (iirc). The current kickstarter figures are based on RL bird of prey color pallete based on the environment in which scientist thought these animals live in.
So for example. Tsaagan was found in the sandy gobi desert of mongolia, and his color scheme was based on Egyptian Vulture

Just give it universal joints for the limbs would be a great start. Look at how the MotuC Battle Cat and all the figures based off that work. Or the Hobbit Warg figure.

Depends on which dinosaur you're looking at. Raptor family definitely have feathers, and up to the snout like pic related due to recent discovery of Dakotaraptor. This means that even the compromise version between feather vs. scale with the entire raptor head being scaly is wrong. It is very unlikely that dromaeosaurids molt, considering the Dakotaraptor specimen is 2nd biggest one out there and it is fully covered in feathers. Like you wouldn't think that modern bird of prey would molt right?
Bigger dinosaur like T.rex though might very likely molt. Baby ostriches had fuller feather, and adult ostritches are bald around the head and legs. There is still no direct evidence of feathers in T.rex, and there is direct scale imprint on fossilized T.rex leg and the underside of the tail. However most of T.rex ancestors had hair so it is very likely that T.rex has partial hair.

I have some friends who are real paleontologists and their disappointment is justified. The first Jurassic Park sparked a lot of renewed interest in their field and utterly smashes the public notion that dinousaurs are slow cold blooded giant lizards in one full swoop. JW is another chance for them to get their research in the last 2 decades known. Think of it as the nerds who finally got a chance to shine in a graduation ceremony but the graduation host botches the introduction, it is kinda sad. I know it is handwaved in the movie, but they think that it is still a missed opportunity, if JP can completely change public perception about dinosaur, why shouldn't JW do the same? What's the risk? Fat popcorn Americans can't accept scientific breakthrough?
However this is /toy/ and not /sci/ so its a different complain. A good chunk of paleontologists and hobbyists were lamenting the missed opportunity, but not all of them are dino figure collector. With the lack of good dinosaur figure line since kenner died, most dino figure collector doesn't give a shit as long as they get quality figure/statue. Just look at Rebor and Papo, they're releasing "museum replica" but scientifically innacurate dinosaur. Despite that, Rebor is still accepted with open arms by the dinosaur toy collectors.

There's sadly really nothing to talk about and to be excited about other than trolling each other until both sides doesn't know who's trolling who anymore. The dinosaur fad is dying unlike the 90s where most anon grew up. We don't get cool big dinos like the Kenner JPs or Dino Riders. Smaller statue dinos like Papo, Rebor, CollectA stuff is not as cool.
This kind of KS is nice, but there is no way we'll be getting 2-3' big dinosaur figures out of crowdfunding and none of the major company is doing anything. Maybe if David is successful since he's a full timer at NECA he might convince NECA to make a full line of larger more obscure dinosaurs.
