The Headmasters part isn't specifcally catering to me, no. It's nice to see SOME of the old Headmasters get updates, and I think Galvatron having Megatron as a Headmaster is neat. What I'm referring to is that ever since the Thrilling 30 line this line has been heavily geared towards the active IDW cast and aesthetics, a trend clearly continuing into Titans Returns. I can see MTMTE not being to everyone's taste, and some of the fanbase is fucking atrocious. I think the most likely explanation is that the same designer worked on both and the greebling is just a go-to styling they use for mechanical detailing.Even though anon keeps calling it a "bayformer" piece, it was a toy-only design so the armor wasn't based on any movie design in particular. DCAU style is the way most 2D action animation is going now. It's either that, or CGI robots. Even anime rarely does hand-animated mecha anymore. Personally, as an animation enthusiast I enjoy seeing TFs in that style, though maybe we can see less quirks like chins next time.

We don't need Scourge's head to come off and ride in the plane. Save that for the guys who actually are supposed to do that, and save some of these other guys for the gimmicks they're supposed to have.

Dude, come on. Their primary gimmick was an accessory. All that happens when you take it away is they become just another Transformer figure. It's not otherwise an integral part of either mode of the figure like Headmasters, or required for transformation like Powermasters, and they certainly didn't unlock any other gimmicks in the main figure like Minicons did. It was just a gun that turned into a little man. That's it.
