Most of the joints were pretty solid with the exception of a couple of fingers being slightly floppy and the cranial neck joint being EXTREMELY floppy. It was also oddly weighted--kind of heavy in the legs and the upper torse. Made posing awkward. Otherwise, great toy.

Hey /toy/ what's the best Marvel Legends comic Ultron?

I don't mean the movie version since I already got the Revoltech. Also I already got the Marvel Select, but I want a comic Ultron that's a little smaller to troll my Japanese figures. I know there's the Target exclusive based on the Age of Ultron comic covers, but I also one from an Iron Man 3 series, and how it was repainted a couple of times for different releases. What's the best one out there?

I'm still 100% convinced that they only made him so they could get a guaranteed double dip when they inevitably put out the pym version. Oddly enough I've seen a couple straight repaints into the classic colors and it didn't look as good as black ant.

>>5632297
Even if that's all he comes with, I've just done the cut-out-the-index-finger method on a couple legends so far and it works fine.
>>
So with Civil War coming out in a lot of places tommorow, will there be some spidey toys announced/put up for pre-order? I saw a post by Funko saying they're definitely doing a POP of him, so I figure that will be up pretty soon.
Who knows maybe it's even ready for immediate release like next week.

>>

>>
>>5632337
They throw darts at a spinning board to see which figures should get extra hands, which should have regular open hands, and which should get trigger fingers and how many.

For Spider-Women it's a coin toss to see if they should come with one thwip hand and one fist or two thwip hands.

>Hey /toy/ what's the best Marvel Legends comic Ultron?
Anyone?
>>
>>5632288
yayy. thinking about getting one for the iron man collection
>>
>>5632462
Target three pack imo. I'm not a big fan of the very simply paintjob on the IM3 one. Plus mine's waist swivel is pretty loose and his articulation doesn't feel quite as good, though I haven't handled him in a while. I love the painted dots in the target version's mouth and I overall really like his look except for maybe the beetle feet.
>>
>>5632462
Bypass the legends ones and get the Marvel Select Ultron. Best comic representation in my opinion. Just as much, if not more, articulation than the legends version too. Great scale as well.

http://www.amazon.com/Diamond-Select-Marvel-Ultron-Action/dp/B007KZ73DA/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1461731828&sr=8-1&keywords=marvel+select+ultron

>>
>>5635927
No, Gwen's very easy to find now. I'm not saying that there isn't a brief period where supply is greater than demand, but every last ML for the last 2 years could be had for retail very easily after the initial buying rush. Strictly speaking for the USA market though, obviously.
>>
>>5635968
>supply is greater than demand

>>
>>5635925
Only mass retail wave since relaunch I never saw was the Rocket Raccoon wave. Never saw any of em on the pegs, or fully at sites like Amazon. Maybe a stray Scarlet Spider, but that's it.
>>
>>5635980
You're spot on, that's why I made sure to say 2 years instead of 3 as it was a 2013 wave. That was a ridiculous wave, I remember people posting when Jean would go up on HTS and then 8 seconds later there'd be someone bemoaning that it was already gone.
>>
>>5635953

> Supporting Scalpers
> Ever

You are part of the problem.
>>
>>5636018
The whole wave was up for a long time on HTS at one point. I bought a few for like half price or something.
>>
>>5636057
I don't recall Jean or BP lasting long ever, but maybe my memory is fuzzy. I'll take your word for it.
>>
>>5635925
Spidergwen and Winter Soldier Black Widow were really hard to find at retail actually.
>>
>>5636071
I bought BP after checking the site over a week waiting for a better deal. It never went out of stock during that week. Same with the rest of the wave.

If it makes you feel any better, this was a pretty good amount of time after the wave hit. I assume a few cases turned up or got returned and we're thrown up on the site long after anyone thought to look there.
>>
>>5636149
>Winter Soldier Black Widow
For a short period. BW got double packed with WS in a second run of the wave, she was everywhere at retail. The ones that really got the shaft were the AIM and Hydra soldiers, which were dropped in the second run.

As for Gwen, the momentum is gone. You could get her right now for retail costs online, the pegs will follow suit as always.
>>
>>5631534
>>5635891
So what's the deal with this set? Is it going to be a normal retail release? And is the hulkbuster painted any differently? If Loki, War Machine, and Thor came with pieces I need it would be a lot easier to complete my currently unfinished hulkbuster.

>>

Just because they're hard for you personally to find doesn't mean that they're "hard to get." They are mass produced children's toys sold in giant retail chains across the planet. If you can't find something made in such high quantities, it's your own fault for not trying.

>>
>>5637272
I wasn't implying that at all.

Last time I checked Hasbro, not fulfillment centers, was responsible for coming up with case assortments. Unpopular and double-packed characters inevitably lead to pegwarming. This keeps retailers from ordering new waves.

Then there's Habsro's delays in getting the new waves out, so retailers just end up reordering/stocking waves they already have.

>Unpopular and double-packed characters inevitably lead to pegwarming.
That's not distribution and it's not really up to Hasbro either, since big companies like WalMart have a say in it too.
As for unpopular/double packed, that's a damned if you do\damned if you don't moment. Lots of unpopular characters are clamored for by fans and these same fans will bitch when a figure isn't made.
No matter what Hasbro does, you'll bitch and pretend it somehow has to do with "distribution"

>so retailers just end up reordering/stocking waves
Such ignorance.
If this was the 80s still, you'd be right, since Hasbro kept producing the same wave for an entire year. Nowadays, it's a 3-6 month interval of different waves. So any restock of a 3-6 month old wave, it's stuff that was still in one of the fifty store's 3 million square foot distribution centers.
>>
>>5637730
>That's not distribution

How is it not? Case assortments literally determine which figures will be shipped out. What do you insist on calling it then?

I'm not pretending anything. Other Hasbro lines have the same issues as well. You don't hear nearly the same amount of complaints about lines by other toymakers.

Same thing happens in my location. I'm actually generally a wave of two behind. We only have Ultron wave stragglers at Walmart and the Rhino wave at Target. No TRU in my area. Shit I want to a target that's a bit farther from me and they still had Hobgoblin wave figures still out on pegs. Too bad I already picked up Ultimate Spider Woman and Mayday like forever ago. I just buy my MLs online generally. My LCS doesn't really keep up with then either.
>>
>>5638026
>What do you insist on calling it then?
You just said it in your previous sentence.
You're just being a literal autist when it comes to using the word, likely because you heard it misused since forever and want to continue to misuse it.

>You don't hear nearly the same amount of complaints about lines by other toymakers.
lol, wut?
Maybe because you only pay attention to Marvel stuff, but the same complaints are made about ANY shelfwarmer for Hot Wheels, TMNT, Monster Girls, and countless other lines, some of which are rarely spoken about on /toy/.
At least, that's what I saw when i used to visit other forums in the 90s and 00s.

The only companies you'll rarely hear that from are collector companies, which are usually more flexible about how many of each figure you can order. And these collector toys rarely ever sell out, at least, not until a year later.
These collector toys are easy to get because they're usually released one by one and can get reordered, which you'll rarely ever see from mass market toys, because mass market requires a HUGE amount of toys to produced at cheaper prices.
Hasbro was supposedly going to allow direct market stores like comic shops to do orders like they normally did, so they could order individual figures, but it seems like that experiment failed.

Obviously merch can be sold of Spidey. Sony owning the rights has never prevented them from making movie toys. I don't know why people seem to think it would now that they've got a deal that puts him in the MCU.

The only issue there was was they couldn't have him in advertising, and they clearly worked that out.

Ant Man on the back of the box looks like Collosus in a onesie.

It's meant to be a replica. Ultimate Ultron is literally just Ultron Prime with vibranium armor on top, which ends up buffing his overall frame and physique.

Anyone else find it a shame that we never got a Legends figure of movie Yellowjacket? I know he wasn't the most spectacular villain (though I like to think of him as an alternate movie version of Ultron) but I still think he has one of the best costumes in the entire MCU and I just find it a shame that Hasbro never made a figure of him especially since you wouldn't even need the actor's likeness to get it right.

The Ultron from the BAF Iron Monger wave is pretty good as basic Ultron, while the 3-pack Ultron is good if you want something a little more crazy looking with Kirby dots.

I mean, you pretty much listed all of them. The 5-inch Ultron from toybiz before ML looks pretty rad, but it's not articulated very well, and the Legendary Riders ultron is dogshit.

sorry if this question gets asked a ton, but i really want a full set of movie avengers.

cap, thor, iron man, hulk, hawkeye, widow

what's the best option? original avengers? AOU? legends? selects? figuarts? hot toys?
>>
>>5642512
It's really a mix anon. Every brand has their strengths and weaknesses. You also have to know the differences in height and build if you want it to be at least accurate/ presentable.

There are lots of comparison videos out there. If you just put in the time, then you won't regret your purchase.
>>
>>5642514
i've been looking around and have found all the results lacking so far.

each line has one or two flaws that ruin the whole thing for me.

was just wondering if there was any slightly obscure option i never considered.
>>
>>5642512
What scale do you want?
Hot Toys is your best option for both quality and character selection but not budget.
Honestly, I prefer ~1/12 and like to mix and match lines (which occasionally requires scale fudging but eh)
>>
>>5642567
scale isn't terribly important right now. i have halo PAK and sentai SHF but they're on separate detolf shelves. i think the most important aspect for me is likeness. up until now i've only had helmeted figures or robots, but with human figures who don't wear helmets, it's tricky finding acceptable sculpts. i know it's unfair to expect perfect paint apps on $20 figures, but both the legends and selects are letting me down on that front.

might end up saving money (like a lot of money) and picking up the Age of Ultron Hot Toys set one by one. they have everyone, the sculpted in detail is amazing, and while not every headsculpt is spot on, they get the closest that i've seen.

it's gonna kill me financially, but you only really need one kidney right?
>>
>>5642512

Figuarts is IMO quite good but good luck on your budget when you try to get a Hulkbuster.

Yellowjacket's costume is so fucking good. I'm still holding out hope he'll show up in an MCU filler wave or boxset or something, as unlikely as that is, just because it's so cool.
>>
>>5642405
I doubt that's the case. We just don't have release dates for any of the upcoming waves. We'll probably get an MCU Spidey in the next wave after that one.

They'll probably make Ultimate Peter and Miles swap figures, both under the name Ultimate Spider-Man/Men. Then it'll specify that it's Miles Morales.
>>
>>5642405
> What if they retooled him and they're making him MCU spidey? That's why they haven't revealed release dates?

That probably won't happen; MCU figures are usually unique sculpts because the costumes require way more sculpted detail than they get away with on their comic figures; we'll probably see a Civil War Spidey way later.

> Also...do we know what Miles' box is gonna say?

Probably just "Ultimate Spider-Man" where he'll surely be a swap figure with Peter. Kid Arachnid is the name he's using in the current cartoon, but they're not going to use it for a comics figure.

Don't listen to that guy. They're overpriced and poorly engineered, using soft plastic where they should've put hinges in the armor. This leads to wrinkles and paint chipping in those areas. Also, many have experienced the paint on the chest becoming splotchy and uneven over time.

I know they're basically allergic to MCU villains but it's such a huge missed opportunity when we get designs like Ronan, Yellowjacket and Crossbones that actually look great and toyetic (not to mention the potential parts reuse from all three could easily give us new sculpts for other Legends).

I mean I'm glad we're even getting Wanda from Civil War at all, but it's like they can't into MCU somehow.

Just picked up Jack O Lantern, sculpt and paint on his head sold it for me, they're great. It quite literally is backwards. A lot of the figure uses the Bucky body mold from when Hasbro first got the Legends license.

If you want to appreciate Hasbro now, all you need to do is see some of their older figures. They're all really really awful.

I think I still greatly prefer the SHF's wide eyes to the Figma's clay-ass face sculpt. Cloth capes are fine but I feel they need wire to be totally functional-- no flying poses when the cape succumbs to gravity. I don't see it on the proportions; Figma's head seems too big or too small from some angles and the SHF looks fine in most regards to me. You got me on better hair engineering and torso movement, though, even if SHF's torso is still useable backwards.
I think part of it is down to my love of sleeveless Thor designs, honestly.

He's absent everywhere else.
>>
>>5643345
This new Spidey is at least on a whole new mold, though. They made a teen boy mold for Ultimate Peter and Miles.

Seems like it'd be easy enough to re-use the new USM mold for, with a few new pieces made. No idea if it'll happen but I wouldn't say it never will, Hasbro likes to get their money's worth out of new sculpts.

I don't know! I just think it's super weird how they're hiding him in everything!

I've seen their movie, there's scenes in the trailers where he's been removed.
>>
>>5643487
It doesn't have to be a Sony-Marvel thing for their to be a marketing embargo; it could just be a "we want to keep this character out of the spotlight" thing. Hasbro did the same thing with another major Disney blockbuster six months ago when they kept Han, Luke and Lightsaber-Weilding Rey out of their merch for Star Wars.

They seem to have tried something similar, based on stuff some of the developers of games have said, about things like Spidey and Giant Man in Civil War; though Funko and Lego don't seem to give a fuck.
>>
>>5643530
Well yeah they were obviously trying to keep the design a secret, and as far as advertisements Sony apparently prevented them from featuring him, but people in these threads are acting like there's some Sony embargo that could keep the MCU version of the character from ever getting toys.
