Why is Nerf so opposed to making pump-action blasters?
>>
Is the slide on the Recon Mk.II super stiff feeling for anyone else? It's really unpleasant feeling on mine, and makes prepping a shot a chore every time.

From purely a ruthless-performance perspective, what is /toy/'s take on the best blaster that nerf has made?

Stuff like "most fun" and "best looking" is subjective and those things are important too, but what do you think is the most effective blaster overall?

I'd argue the Stryfe for this purely because it has a simple-but-it-reliably-works mechanism (I use an orange Elite XD model so I don't have the dart detector issues) which means apart from other stuff like simple performance upgrading/moddability, it's just so goddamn reliable.

Personally I've put my stryfe through a lot and it haven't ever had a jam or misfire from the damn thing.

Let's get a discussion going, who agrees/disagrees? If you don't, what do you think makes a better all-round nerf blaster?
>>
>>5630960
because mag fed pump action blasters make most other blasters obsolete
>tfw no modulus alpha trooper
>>
>>5633245
I need to get my hands on a Stryfe sometime soon, but out of the blasters I own, I would say it's a tie between Rampage and Alpha Trooper, because pump action is best.

For some reason I tend to dislike battery weapons. I know that they are much faster to fire and usually shoot longer distances reliably but something about them makes me dislike them. Maybe my experiences of electric motor pistols has been tainted by the Barricade.
>>
>>5633505
Yep, the barricade is very garbage as someone who had the misfortune to own one, the Stryfe has pretty much none of its issues

I've heard rumours that Stryfes are going extinct soon but they're still very reasonably priced on Amazon

Amongst springers though 100% agreed with your choices, I personally like the EAT more (because I'm left handed) but they're broadly similar blasters
>>
>>5633949
Mine isn't even an Elite Alpha Trooper, I have the Yellow CS-18, but to me the Rampage and AT have quite a similar feel to them. Maybe if I got an Elite AT then I would notice a bigger difference.
>>
>>5634076
The EAT has a direct plunger rather than a reverse plunger so it's arguably a fair bit better especially with a beefy spring

At the same time they're a bit painful to get these days so a pumped retaliator may be a more reliable thing to actually buy which has similar operation and performance
>>
>>5633245
I'd say the Alpha Trooper because I don't like relying on batteries.
>>
>>5634232
I'd say suck a dick because you are a poorfag
>>
>>5634239

>>
>>5633505
>>5633949
I rather like the Barricade despite its shortcomings. I picked one up at the thrift store for a few bucks and it works great. Probably the only semiauto revolver we'll ever get from Nerf.
>>
>>5634076
>>5634131
>>5633949

I find the EAT's pump grip to be wildly uncomfortable for me. I wish it had some type of fore grip.

Also, of the two I've owned, they'd both have issues with darts being primed then just falling out of the front of the blaster. What's the deal with that?
>>
EAT stories? EAT stories.

>be me in mid-2015
>really want a manual-prime primary so that I can easily switch off between flywheels and pump on the go
>considered Retaliator, but thought the top-prime would be awkward
>turns out Elite Alpha Troopers are rare as men with quadballs and aftermarket prices are outrageous
>decide to just drop the cash for a Worker pump and mod a Retaliator
>suddenly people are finding orange Alpha Troopers in Kohls
>finally decide to get one
>turns out I don't really like how the prime feels, even compared to a top-prime
It's cool and all, plus it's a reliable blaster, especially if you're loaning it out to a friend who barely has any nerf guns, but I guess my expectations were too high.

Look into one of the worker kits for a retaliator (pic related)

Pretty much identical to EAT performance but you get dat foregrip- but sadly it isn't cheap
>>
>>5635328

>>
>>5635238
One tip I read about the uncomfortable pump grip is to just unscrew it and turn it around. I forget it I liked it better that way or not.

>>5635322
EAT story?
I was fortunate enough to be around when Target had the new EATs on the shelves at discountinued AT prices. Walked out with 4 EATs at $5 each. I mainly just wanted the 12-round clips.
>>
>>5633245
Protip for anyone looking for a Stryfe:

Try hitting up your local Target, mine carries Stryfes and they pricematch with Walmart's $10 online Stryfes (they set the price there for Black Friday and never changed it back. There were litteral pallets of Stryfes in Walmarts).

No garuntee you'll find one, but if you do, you can get it for super cheap.

IDK if it's just the people at my Target being retarded, but a friend and I (he mods) have gotten 10ish Stryfes between the two of us this way. $100 when it should be a total of $250.
>>
>>5635328

Nothing beats a Stryfe, fammo. Springer cucks wished they had the reliability and RoF of a Stryfe. I have a Worker pump Retaliator (a la >>5635328) and it's pretty fun but just doesn't compare to flywheel stuff desu.

Just, yeah, if you don't have an OJ you really do have to bridge the dart detector. I've heard it's pretty shit.

When modded to shit the Rapidstrike can spit like 12+ dps at 100+ fps.

>No mention of the rival line guns

Tried out the apollo last week for the first time and its the best thing since sliced bread

it's incredibly accurate, kind of hard to prime, but generally a great fun gun.

Some people are turned off by the concept of non darts, but the foam golf balls pick up easy and fly far with very little variation compared to the elites.

I'm looking forward for the pump action shotgun coming in the fall
>>
>>5644531
My only gripes are that, since it has ball ammunition, the ammo gets around a lot more than darts or discs since they bounce and roll on surfaces that aren't carpet or grass (in my case, I mostly play in a well-carpeted huge basement, so I really shouldn't be complaining), and the Zeus's strange side-loading from my experience handling a friend's (although, admittedly, that's my excuse for not buying the Zeus and waiting for the future releases). Aside from that, they're just better blasters, and that's all they are. There's not much to talk about. I'm also really looking forward to more Rival blasters.

>>5644544
Yeah I'm not going to lie the Zeus is complete shit

I've never really liked battery operated blasters and the awkward side loading really killed it for me.

The Apollo is ridiculously great and after I modded the blaster to pull the priming handle back up after manually pulling it back. Oh jeez it was such an amazing mod I don't know why they didn't do this themselves.

I'm most excited for the Atlas, but I don't know how the double shots going to work...

Also on the whole bouncing and ricochets

I think the ricochets and bounces work in your favor indoors because a ball shot at a wall in a small room will bounce at least 5 times before hitting the ground again. Sure it makes it harder to find the balls if they roll under stuff, but it scares the shit out of anyone from getting out of cover while the balls zipping around.
>>
>>5644531
>non-darts
>pump action shottie

Proprietary ammo guns don't get enough love, imo.

I'm personally fond of the Pyragon, but it really only shines indoors where I can slamfire like a chronic masturbator firing 5dps and the discs ricochet everywhere.

But it sucks because the ammo is a pain in the ass to find outside of chinese knockoffs and I'm not trying to kill somebody.

Anything similar made by nerf or other companies to the marauder?
>>
>>5644989
the longsword? plenty of foam swords availble for larping and cosplay purposes. my lil brothers picked up two foam master swords from a ren faire field trip. They were just as long if not longer then the marauder my roommate had and one of them certainly had denser foam then the marauder which was already pretty dense for those nerf weapons. The other one was a lot closer to how dense I remember the marauder was. I imagine a lot of the anime cosplay foam weapons you can find on amazon, have similar denseness and length to those. And for the most part a lot of the foam swords are about the same price as the retail for the marauder so there is that.

Considering we will never get another line of good melee nerf, thats the best bet.

>>
>>5653124
They all shoot the same ammo, so there's not much to be done. You can increase the POWER to fling it further, but the darts also have bad aerodynamics, so you can't be accurate either. So it's really not "sniping" if it takes you 50 darts to try and tag someone 100 ft away standing still the whole time.

When did war change for you, /nerf/?

None of my friends ever modded til recently, so going from N-Strike to N-Strike Elite was a huge difference maker for us. I was the first one of the bunch to get a Retaliator, and all quaked before me as they tried their damnedest to out-shoot me with their stock Mavericks, Spectres, and Recons. War had changed.

I'm looking to get a Nerf gun to practice slicing and generally terrorize my roommates. I've got my eye on the Retaliator, but reading the thread I saw this >>5639629 and looked into the Buzzbee Champion. no it's actually a pic from ebay. my retaliator has the same pump kit but i don't have the stock and barrel attachements.
the stock is a generic air soft stock connected by a nerf compatible buffer tube.
you can buy the pumpkit and the buffer tube from this guy on ebay:
http://www.ebay.com/sch/nerfrightarm/m.html?_nkw=&_armrs=1&_ipg=&_from=
or directly from the manufacturer in china on taobao.

the pic is my retaliator, which looks tacticool enough for me.

Seems alright. The Buzzbee one is probably missing the shells, so sell that to some kid as soon as you receive it. It's a shame that the Hail-Fire doesn't have any clips though. Pick up a bunch of 18s from somewhere. I got two for 20p each.

I owned 3 Mavs in my day and they were every one jamming piles of shit. Literally every second shot. I welcomed the Strongarm.

If you like the Retaliator already but want better handling, then go for it. While the gun's own performance is always a good thing, comfort while handling factors heavily into how you perform.

Heck, if you want to put a cushioned cheek rest on a stock, I'd say go for that too.

I didn't even realize it went on sale yet. I would have to see some reviews of it first, I'm curious if the Mega launcher is Smart AR based or if it's a full on spread shot blast.

I just got my AR stock adapter from China. Overall, not too bad but it does have a few issues. First, they put the locking mechanism in backwards, mean you had to hold open the slide lock to attach the stock, and just yanking it out will unlock the slide. A couple of screw removals and I was able to flip the locking mechanism around.

Second, it will not fit all the way onto the stock attachment point on any blaster I have. It will not go in all the way for the sliding lock to catch. I think if I shaved off a tiny bit from the front of the adapter, I can get the lock to engage. Otherwise, it's a rally tight solid fit.

Third, my AR stock is a fairly tight fit over the buffer tube. Nothing horrible, but I'll probably sand the tube down a little and the whole thing should slide perfectly.

The grip is def better than the other modulus blasters and the performance is good!

Unfortunately I've discovered I'm not really a fan of bolt-action priming. It doesn't offer and advantages IMO and is not nearly as comfortable pump action (the best) and still worse than over-hand priming (lack of comfort).

I'm looking for a bolt-kit that offers a larger handle at the least.

>>
>>5712982
Honestly it doesn't take much IMO.

Yeah you can mess with the missile launcher but honestly you don't want to use it from that far away regardless (due to slow missile speed).

The MEGA-HAMP is honestly the most impressive part and I am not going to do a thing to it.

Unless I can get a large handle I am not going to upgrade the spring. I do not want to have to double hand this thing unless I can turn it into a brass barrel, perfect seal actual sniper rifle to make it worth using two hands.
>>
>>5712910
I like that the grenade launcher turns into its own gun. Pretty slick.

If you attached it to another blaster, would the air hose reach underneath a typical barrel extension? Looks a bit short.

There was something similar in the rebelle line where it was a 4 barrel smart ar pump action blaster that folded into a gaudy "purse". I was hoping they'd make a version that wasn't aimed at tweenage girls because reviews said it was pretty decent. Though I'd rather have a revolver barrel then a smart AR barrel, I've had too many issues with those.

Deploy was a victim of the "reshell the recon again" years and is thereby utter trash.

I got a clear one for that price too, had the box and the belt. Sadly the battery case was corroded, however I had a regular vulcan and just switched the battery cases

That's depressing.

The front doesn't pull off. I haven't tried cutting it off yet though.

We've got the Firestrike and Rough Cut knockoffs over here. They cost nearly as much as the real things. Are any of them worth picking up at a lower price?

Does the priming bar have screws like the Longshot one? If so, you can open it up and trim it down to make it removable.

I've got two. The torch is essentially a less focused Nite Finder light, so don't bother with it. The quality control is awful, so some Deploys shoot pretty well while other barely fire. Also, the N-Strike Flip Clip that is advertised as an upgrade for it is garbage. Every time the front part flips down, the clip piece comes off. If you see it for a couple of currencies, go for it. Otherwise, get an EAT instead. How hard is it to get EAT internals into a Deploy? I've always wanted it to be good, or at least more usable than a Maverick.

Who needs the tri-strike when you got a retaliator, a screw, havok fire bolt and way to much free time
