How do D-Arts stack up against Figuarts?
I just bought pic related. The MFC entry states that it's technically an S.H.Figuarts but it seems to share a lot of parts with the D-Arts God Eater figures, which I've never owned (and I never see anyone post about them on /toy/)
I only ask because the paint apps and overall quality control on my AGP Atago are really shitty compared to my Figuarts, I'm hoping Alisa won't be the same. Bandai's QC seems to be quite erratic across different lines.

D-arts are pretty much like Figuarts, but a different brand name (which is why Bandai later ditched the name and brought it into the same line). Most D-arts tend to be lousy in terms of QC though, but I think that particular figure seemed to be one of the better ones.

Skinny upper thighs (this seems to be becoming a regular issue with Figuarts), helmet lens slightly off, torso armour not quite the right shape/proportions, and the biggest issue - midsection utility pouches about half the size they should be, wrong shape and orientation.
Don't get me wrong, I still want one badly and will be stalking Mandarake like a mad cunt for the next few days, but it's not much better than the Stormtrooper accuracy-wise.

yeah I was a little annoyed I was forced to get it with the speeder but it's so good that if I hadn't gotten it I'd be pissed. There are a lot of little movable parts on it too. The handle bars fold away for storage, they also have a piston for up and down movement but the two sides seem to be linked.
The brake flaps have a slide hinge so they can sit flush with the bike when closed and the pouch on the back can come off for whatever display reason that needs. the stand has a substitute piece for when it's not in the bottom of the speeder for when you want to display it not floating and upside down I guess.

You could claim that for sculpt, not articulation. The entire point of using it as a reference is to help understand how limbs and shit look in certain positions, if they had the skill to figure out the poses the figures aren't capable of they wouldn't need the figures in the first place.

heys guys last xmas I got a figuarts battle droid and it quickly became my favorite figure, my pride and joy and everytime I pass it I just can't help but feel so happy about it however being my first figuarts I got one and well he seemed like he might be really fragile and poorly made but i was DEAD wrong.

Drawing a pose without reference is super easy. Just draw basically a stick man figure, a line frame person, then add on top of that.
What is tricky, is maintaining the proportion of the human body from the view point of your drawing. That's when looking at a model helps, so what is more important is having the right proportion.

Not sure what SM ones you saw but I have all of the Guardians, Chibiusa, Super SM, and Tuxedo Mask and they are fuckin' immaculate.
It's much harder to get something like Usagi's face and costume just right than armor or involved detail, ironic but any artist will tell you the same. 0 margin for error and the SM ones are god tier. I have seen a review where the person got a Mercury with a sloppy paint application but that's universal on occasion to all figures. Their skin finish is exactly the right satin feel and their clothing is matte where it should be and slightly pearlescent where it should be.
I am considering going after a few Lucky Star Figmas but after being spoiled, I am not sure I will bother. But I love the characters and the pictures I have seen look incredible. Anyone have them? I hear a lot of people trash Figma for some reason but they seem great.

Sonic the Hedgehog figuarts when? I didn't buy the Nendoroid, and now I don't know how to spot real ones from bootlegs, but a figuart would be cool because it would be a good size, have great articulation, and they do a really good job.

You'd be surprised, 42 was actually a pretty popular armor. Considering how much better 45 and 46 are in comparison to 43 in terms of design, I'd say the novelty that came with 42's predominantly golden color scheme feels even more special in retrospect.
