For those unfamiliar, "Plamo" is a shortened form of "plastic model." If it's made of plastic, someone can probably help you here.

Started on this part of the GM today. The type-C space type comes with an SMG, Rifle, and LMG so I wanted to make him a DMR version with a rail and optic. I'm going to make the optic based on an elongated version of the typical round fed sensor. pretty happy so far, this is just the base to add detail to.
>>
>>5624566
How about adding a magwell?
>>
>>5624576

im considering a few things for that half, I may use the (strangely wider) magazine from the SMG mode but cutting out the bottom for it

sup /gpg/, just wondering if anyone else here has experiences with ordering third party waterslides from china? i found some on ebay and wanted to cop for my mg x but i didn't know if they were shit or not. thanks in advance.

Is Zeta 2.0 worth the buy or should I buy the RG? no money for the PG tho.

If you just want a cool zeta oob the RG or MG is great, if you are going to paint I would get the MG because the RG is one of the kits I would least like to paint

Yep, it's identical

I can't believe those fags aren't even using the GM 2.0 frame. It's a great frame and easy enough to build on top of.
>>
>>5624645
The type C frame doesn't need as many new parts and runners to base it off of (the 2.0 frame would need a completely new set of exterior armor among other issues). Using the Type C frame they can pump it out faster and easier.

I need Gundam hands, /gpg/. I need big, meaty Gundam hands like a fat kid needs cake.

Master Gundam's grabbers here are just about the perfect size, at about an inch from ball to fingertip and about a half inch across the palm. Problem is they're solid pieces and can't hold anything so they're useless for my purposes.

The other hand there is from a 1/100 Altron; it's a bit smaller than I'd like, about 3/4 the size of master's mitt, but it is articulated and I have several of them (no fucking clue where the others came from) so they'll work if I can't get anything else.

Does anyone know where I can get either Master-sized hands capable of holding shit, or several more of the smaller hands? I'm fucking terrible at judging scale from packaging and I don't want to order a shitload of hands from somewhere and have them all turn out to be the wrong size.
>>
I'm not even surprised that the Powered GM is a P-bandai MG. But does it still mean possibility of GM Cardigan?
>>
>>5624660
It only comes with one open palm and you can't fit all the guns in the binders. What's the fucking point this kit is trash
>>
>>5624648
Well now it's going to be shit. Might as well just buy a resin kit and modify it to fit over the GM 2.0 frame.

Standard version soon right? Right? Not December 2016?
>>
>>5625163

...I can't recast the one I want, because I don't have the one I want. Master Gundam's hands are the right size, but are in an open-palm bitchslap pose and can't hold anything. The Altron hands are smaller than what I need, and to recast them I'd have to take the damn things apart and cast each individual piece because they've got articulation.

It's going to be a million times easier in the long run just to buy new hands. I was asking to see if anyone had any experience buying hands and might know what the best hands to get might be.

Thanxman.

Also, I got some sprue cutters, but they still leave little marks as you can see on the suit I bought, is this pretty much unavoidable or did I buy shitty cutters?
>>
>>5625816
When you simply cut it still will leave the marks, but if you get some sandpaper or a hobby knife you can sand it off if you cut flush, or if you leave a little bit you can slice it off.
>>
>>5625816
might be shitty cutters or technique.
id say cut the part and leave a bit of the gate on, and sand/file/shave with a knife the rest away. if you're careful you won't get the marks or they'll be so unnoticable.

I'll probably buy another guy and try leaving a bit of the nub on and try out both the sanding technique and the hobby knife one. Does any grit sandpaper do?

I'm only asking cause I also bought the Rozen Zulu cause it looked sweet as hell, but I really don't wanna mess it up so I'm holding back on building it til I have things worked out.

I usually start with a 600 grit, and then finish it with a 1000 grit, but I know others use even higher grits after that for a finer finish.

you are talking about a jewelers saw, and it has some applications but it's usually too flexible for styrene sheet, it wobbles around if you don't cut something solid like a bar. It's really best for specific types of removal of parts on kits.

Definitely, I'm still working on it, this is just the primer I'm using for checking surfaces. I'm still planning a couple things, a cheek comb for the long gun, and I'm going to build a little charge handle, bolt, and dust cover hopefully. I really want to make optics but that will take planning once the rest is done.

Figuring out how to make the larger magazine work out of the bottom without breaking the gimmick was my favorite part so far, it's a chopped up version of the SMG part

If this is true, just fucking kill me
>>
>>5626929

To be fair, it would probably be automatic or some shit. I mean the guns have cameras on them so they are connected in some way, and it's a fuck huge robot.
>>
>>5626952
There was like half a year between the first couple FAGs. It's only this year that we've suddenly gotten a string of releases, now they're pacing them and I wouldn't doubt that there is a restock on a couple of them in the time between Jinrai and Baselard.
>>
>>5626961
It rarely comes up, but the ballistics have a manual firing mode option as well in UC. It's just that nobody really uses it in favor of using the automatic firing and targeting system because it is super difficult to do properly.
>>
>>5626967
At this point, we might as well go all the way. Also it probably caters to western audiences so no harm in that
>>
>>5626963
I wonder what my relatives will say when they come over and see this on display

As we all find out when trying to put almost any suit in an aimed firing position

What suits can actually aim? I know FLAT van, zaku iis sort of can with the half stock like the mega size
>>
>>5626983

Two handed I mean, most can one hand obviously
>>
>>5626929

Now that I think about it, it might have to be substantially different because most bull pups have those raised handles so you can actually reach with your left hand

Silly Japan none of this gun makes any sense
>>

What are some of the later UC amphibious grunt mono-eyes ?
With Zaku/Gouf, there is Marasai, Geara Doga, Zulus. Dom has Rick Dias, Dreissen.
The Z'Gok line seems to end with prototype suits only. I'm still 0079 so I'm not familiar with the lore.
>>
>>5627316
There's the Kapool/Capool. That's about it. There's not much aquatics in the later stuff.
>>
>>5627316
>>5627332
If you include Late UC, there's the Galguyu. Of course, as a Zanscare suit, it's bug-eye rather than mono-eye.

Shorten the chest a bit, change up the head, and the legs, then it'd be a serious AC. And I'd be 110% OK with that.

Oh also give it two back weapons obviously. EZ-SR's Missile pod and canon work perfectly for ACs.

That's because contrary to its name it's actually a scoring knife design to score plastic for cutting, and it's a small, fine one at that. If you want a scriber get a carbide tipped pen scriber or a Trumpeter panel line engraving.

I want to hold a contest for both boards that is a true test of builder skill and triumph in the face of adversity

Provisional rules list:

>Any HG Kit
>Paints are limited to testors square bottle enamels
>Brushes are limited to testors shitty brush pack, the horrible white ones with no point tip and plastic bristles
>Tools are limited to nippers and hobby knife, that means no files, no drills, etc.

>No sanding
>No thinning
>No primer or putties
>No masking
>No stickers, you must paint your details

Winner would be something like 100 bucks on paypal or kits or something

>>
>>5628312

That pack of Testors enamels comes with a bottle of thinner though.
>>
>>5628312
>No primer

Rescind this rule. Especially if you want people to use those shitty square bottle testors. Using those terrible brushes is already going to be a nightmare without worrying about adhesion issues.

Also, clearcoats are allowed, right?

So you want the unholy child of Nub Destiny and Red Cliff?
>>
>>5628312

I am also considering allowing toothpicks to the list of tools, and having a requirement to glue every piece that isn't moveable
Pros of the contest

>cheap to enter
>anyone can enter
>skill focused
>we will get some shitty builds and hilarious wips out of it
>probably some shit talking

Cons

>paint availability
May have to work something out for people in other places who can't get these shit paints

>>5628331

It's a shit materials build, what can you do with nothing

>>5628334

Yeah I really need to think about this one. I like the idea of it being like something anyone can pick up and do, people who have access to mr surfacer or other airbrushed primers will have a huge advantage just in that

>>5628339

No, those may be some of the unfortunate and highly likely results, but it's still best kit wins
>>
>>5628330
>>5628336
>>5628338
>paints in the reddish popsicle details on the body
>doesn't do the raised areas on the face in grey
>still uses white stickers on the gun and Form 6 side skirts
Not that bad, overall. At least your main priority was the red markings.

On another note, I'm planning on giving my Form 6 Barbatos the longer Graze Ritter shoulder parts from Carta's. If anyone has both kits, could you do a quick mock-up? Thanks in advance.
>>
>>5628342
>Yeah I really need to think about this one. I like the idea of it being like something anyone can pick up and do, people who have access to mr surfacer or other airbrushed primers will have a huge advantage just in that

Thinning is another major issue. Any unthinned paint, especially those testors paints, are going to come out thick and gummy looking unthinned and have shit adhesion.

For primer, pretty much any store that sells Testors paints sells cans of testors primer.
>>
>>5628342
How bout this
>no tools, just nipper ans knife
>no airbrush, handbrush only
>testors only
>>
>>5628349
>>5628353

The thinning rule to me feels like a core part of challenge, those testors paints aren't THAT bad, it's not like some T-Shirt craft store paint. If you can thin and prime you are basically just doing a hand-painting contest at that point. The brushes will be hard enough to enforce as it is.

The primer seems slightly more reasonable, but I may have to do a primed and unprimed category or something just to make it more inclusive
>>
>>5628348
to be honest, I forgot the raised parts on the face where gray
>>
>>5628362

also I don't expect any of these kits to look super great, but who knows

I think the fun is more in the process with this kind of build
>>
>>5628353
Why make it such a testor shill build?

Why not use tube acrylic from office supply store?
>>
>>5628362
If you aren't thinning, you are literally using the paint incorrectly. Thinning isn't just to get thinner coats, paint is specifically formulated with the intention it will be thinned. Adding thinner activates a chemical reaction in the paint that while it's active allows it to bond and level correctly on the part. If you don't thin it, it will look like shit on all but the very smallest details.
>>
>>5628362
Idk ive never used testors unthinned, so that'll be a surprise to work with. The priming part however is kinda triggering
>>
>>5628369

>shill
>literally using it for the sole reason that it's considered bad

the key is that the stuff is widely available rather than hugely varying quality of acrylic paints from wherever
>>
>>5628372

anon are you saying you can't handle the testors out of the bottle challenge?

because I bet there are a ton of 10 year old boys who could show you it's possible

I honestly doubt they'd use Barbatos, who knows where and when the new season will pick up from or who will the protags be, I'd assume Barbatos would reappear for a bit but I'd expect a new Gundam to take the stage, they still have like 68 fucking demon names left
>>
Building 1/100 Barbatos and the frame is ridiculously loose in some places, like the toe joints and more than anything, the thigh swivels. If I try to do any poses where it's up on its toes or any wide-legged stances past "casually standing," it just collapses in a heap. Is this normal, or what? Will the thigh swivel somehow...get tighter once I add the armor? I can't imagine it will.

I'm kinda disappointed to be honest, I've come to expect pretty good engineering and tight tolerances from modern Bandai plamo.

Need some advice, fellas.

I'm looking to get into Five Star Stories kits. As I understand it, both Wave and Volks make FSS kits, the former being somewhat cheap and the latter expensive. Can someone tell me anything past that? I can't quite swing the prices I'm seeing for the Volks kits, but I fear the Wave kits might be shit for the comparatively lower prices. I've also never built a kit from either company before, soo....any advice/info would be welcome. Thanks guys.

Yea, I remembered just after I posted, I don wonder how long they can keep running with Barbatos, some of the "forms" hardly constituted a different notation

I do hope we see more crazy Gundams though

I probably will end up testing on the runners. Hopefully from there it will be an easy decision for what looks best.

Was planning on building the zero first. I'll post a progress update as I go and final review of it when I'm done

Anyone have any advice on White Ogre weathering? Ideally I wanna reproduce the promo photos are closely as possible, rather than just doing nonspecific weathering. I'm mostly concerned with how to get that realistic looking edge wear and chipping. And I assume the brownish tone was weathering powder?

Don't worry they don't seem to have a shortage of weird gundams, there is like 26 confirmed frames still operational and we've only seen 4 Gundam frames so far chances are we might see a weird one.

I'd look at weathering guides if you haven't already, there's a million ways to approach weathering so its worth seeing what other do and what looks they achieve

For specifics look up dry brushing (for edges and chipping) and washes (for panel lines and such)

How's the weathering the skirt looking? Chipping/weathering on red/pink model kits confuse me. Gotta stick with dark weathering colors for red/pink model kits
