I just beat Devastation.

I was hoping for a Nova battle, but I still had a lot of fun.

I HOPE we get some of those weapons from a 3P. Especially the Loud Speakers from Soundwave.

Well they set it the fuck up for one. Maybe the IDW TMNT game they're making will get them more money for a bigger budget.
>>
>>5617301
I wouldn't mind seeing it. They've already got the basics in place. By taking advantage of the "class" setup they made they could slot new characters pretty easily into the existing roles (for example, swaping Bumblebee, Sideswipe, Wheeljack, and Prime out for Arcee, Hot Rod, Kup, and Magnus and doing a Pre-movie era storyline with basically the same movelists). With Grimlock there again, that could practically be done as DLC.

A lot of the weapons are based on actual weapons found with the toys or in the series.
The Loudspeakers are the combined form of Reveal the Shield Jazz's pistol and, well, loudspeakers.
That being said, I would give all my money to someone who makes even a shapeways set.

And here its $5 difference.

What appeals more, meme bot or a bigger war machine with more (intended) features?

We have a legion wave of just sideswipe's and fixits, and cw deluxes don't last very long.

Get the combaticon before the skyreign wave clears, otherwise use the past questions above

BBTS is an online US store.

>>
>>5617699
Same reason why the cw/uw constructions don't have working cranes etc.

It literally is budget, to have an extendable crane or tank turret rotation requires extra joints that may be beyond their budget.

Those bells and whistles all belong to mp's now these days

>>
>>5617706
>>5617714

that's unfortunate. hasbro has their reasons why TFs are built moresimply now, but this change is a shame because before, all tank formers had swivels, as long as the turret isnt part of the transformation.

>Dunno why Grimlock's default weapons are fists in the game.
oh its because he never used a sword in the cartoon. only one of the other Dinobots got to use his sword and he used it to shoot lasers
>>
>>5617874
the latter, its quite impressive though. nice range

as well, the normal energo sword doesnt have a red handle, only Grimlock's Sword does
>>
>>5617876
Provide proof, because from what I've seen, nothing's stopping it from being there.
>>
>>5617829
Yeah but it's a really uncomfortable rotation and at the cost of being good
>>
>>5617876
>put a thin, flat, plastic bar with mushroom or ball joint or pinned swivel on the hinges that make the forward/back turrent motion
>attach turret to that bar
>turret now does what it needs for transformation and rotates

It's gotta be pure budget. But given how well CW probably sold, and how much mold reuse there was, the individual molds should've been a bit better done in some cases.
>>
>>5617877
Plus, fists thematically tie in with his grab moves as part of his role as the close-range power character.

Hopefully they do better with the TR deluxes. None of the currently-revealed figures seem to need turret rotation, but a bunch of their alt modes do have some nice touches.

>>
>>5617902
>shoulder deep
>>
>>5617907

I'm honestly assuming at this point, that all of the CW budget went into making every figure a decent limb and those strong as fuck ratchets. The individual molds are good despite their repetition, and the only real issue thats popped up so far is Brawl's waist tolerances being off at times and the helicopter molds handfootgun peghole possibly being a magnet for stress related failures long-term thanks to it's thinness and the peg holes/handfootgun peg tolerances being all over the place.

And paint apps aside, yeah, the TR shit looks great so far. Gonna nab me a Takara Blurr and Scourge, and the rest Hasbro.

It's using a budget method the animation studio developed for Knights of Sidonia
https://youtu.be/51LMOJu9lwc

It doesn't look as good as TFP's animation but it allows them to churn out assets much quicker. It's why they could introduce a new transformer almost every other episode in RID.

In a previous panel the studio mentioned how
TFP was some sort production hell since transformer required at least 3 highly detailed models (robot, mid-transformation, alt mode). That's why the cast size is minimized and there's so many tricks employed
>Tailgate = cliffjumper
>Makeshift = wheeljack
>Alpha Trion is just a 2D painting.
>>
>>5618114
>It doesn't look as good as TFP's animation but it allows them to churn out assets much quicker. It's why they could introduce a new transformer almost every other episode in RID.

Also, PRID makes clever use of 2D backgrounds, meaning you can get much more variety than in Prime, which had only a few locations and battles mostly took place in rocky canyons

>TFP was some sort production hell
I heard about that too. episode would start production a long time before they air, much longer than your average cartoon

They put a Decepticon icon on Blizzard Drift's product image... and an Autobot one for Quillfire.
I scanned the Decepticon icon on Drift and it actually does unlock Blizzard Drift.
are there any good figures of Crosshairs or Lockdown from the TF4 movie? All that seems to exist are fucking terrible box shaped deluxe figures. I'll go as far as third party or shitty chinese IP infringing $1 store blister pack figure if it looks half-way decent. I really like the look of the characters in the movie and would love nice figures, but they all look like ass. Lockdown also always has some nigger head too.
>>
>>5618547
I like the pretenders to be quite honest familia.

Toxitron also has a very sexy head design, although I'm sure FunPub will drop the ball again.
>>

>>
>>5618646
Only autists use "Not" for third party toys. Jesus Christ it's cringy.
>>
>>5618769
The deluxe Crosshairs isn't garbage, but isn't that great either. The rubber bits try really hard to emulate his cape but don't quite pull it off. My hope is that he'll be back in TF5 and get a better toy there.

Lockdown's deluxe is just sad. It's DOTM Roadbuster's scheme, but simplified. Absolutely not a toy worthy of the main antagonist of the movie. Honestly, one of the big 2-step changers would probably have better shelf presence even if they're bricks.

AoE was just a bit of a clusterfuck of a toyline because budgets for the toys were at an all time low, while the designs became even more impossible to translate to toys. I'd have loved to see ROTF/HFTD-era budgets try to tackle these designs. Or even if they had kept human alliance, that would have been the ideal size to actually pull off these designs.

I'm totally into the Pretenders too. Shame that they will probably go for stupid money on the secondary market.

If nothing else, I'm happy to know that the Grand Max shell is still workable. Maybe we could get a Encore Grand Max sometime. A shame that I don't think Encore Fort Max sold well enough for them to do it though.
>>
>>5618826
I wish we got more JP-only molds in Encore. I'd love to see stuff like reissued Trainbots, Victory Saber, Breastforce, etc.
>>
>>5618638

MMC's Hexatron, their Not-Sixshot. Probably one of the absolute best 3P toys in existence, and well worth his price tag. In my pic, thats his APC mode.

Or, as I like to call it, due to the length of it, the Death Limo.
>>
>>5618793
>budgets for the toys were at an all time low

Really? The movie seemed to perform pretty damn well. Will TF5 have a larger toy budget?
>>
>>5618787
its not six shot though. getting butt blasted that its not legally allowed to be sold under the official transformers banner is just massive autistic butt blasted :^)
>>
>>5618787
Quit getting so anally frustrated, people do it because it amuses them.
>>
>>5618837
It's not tied to the movie's performance. Basically, the cost of oil and labor went up significantly around 2010. This is why toys from ROTF are fuckhuge and intricate (often TOO intricate) compared to today's. Compare Battle Blades Bumblebee (nearly a voyager) to AoE Bumblebee to see the difference.

I may have my timeline wrong, but I feel AoE was one of the first lines the current design team produced, so a bit of it was just growing pains. They seem to have figured out how to work within their budgets better now (and cost have stabilized, more or less compared to 2010ish), so I am hopeful that TF5 will be a bit better, but I wouldn't hold my breath.
>>
>>5618787
I like it because I can never remember the third party names.
>>
>>5618846
Honestly I felt the budget crunch pretty hard messing with a lot of FoC toys.

Grimlock is hollow as shit, lankier than you'd expect from him, and all his ratchets are plastic tabs, the slots for which are visible on the outside of the figure. I'd rather they didn't include the light up mouth gimmick if it meant he felt more substantial.
>>
>>5618854
Addendum: FoC Bruticus was so bad in hindsight I completely forgot about him.

I'd have rather Soundwave and Blaster be bumped from the lineup entirely if it meant Onslaught got to be a voyager instead. Also, Kickback could stand to get booted for an FoC Megatron.
>>
>>5618854
FoC hit right at the crisis point for the new budgets. I have this feeling that those toys were not originally designed to be made on the new, lower budgets and had to be downscaled mid-stream, resulting in such harshly hollow designs at times. Once they knew what they had to work with, things seemed to get better as the designers could plan things out and make the most of what they have.
>>
>>5618858
Pretty much the only figure I'd say was done unambiguously well was the seeker mold.
It doesn't feel nearly as wonky as any of the others, but even then it seems to go out of its way to hoover up the production team's money.

Oh my problem isn't the color or the plastic.
It's the engineering.

It looks like a goddamn trainwreck in combined mode because they wanted a scramble city combiner that was also expected to be the ONLY set of figures in the line using it and is based on a design that sure as hell didn't show any sign of this.

While the individual figures look okay just standing there, Swindle, Brawl and Onslaught suffer for having to do more than two modes without being able to rely on accessories to pull off either mode. Swindle's back doesn't exist, Brawl's mass is all in his backpack, Onslaught's vehicle mode is absolute garbage, and even Vortex and Blast Off don't leave unscathed since their limb modes are just as subpar.

This is why I love combiner wars so much. The HFG may not be substantial, the transformations all samey, but it's objectively a step in a better direction.
>>
>>5618658
Surprisingly yes, I just posted with it and they are still pretty good, just strong enough to hold a pose in combined mode and it still ratchets.

Well, no.
Because there are third party products that ARE the characters, made with the official license to reproduce them.
Gigantic Action Scorponok and the Hot Toys Optimus figure variants come to mind right away. They weren't made by Hasbro, but officially sanctioned.

This is why third party figures don't put actual Autobot/Decepticon insignias on the toys and come up with wacky backstories and comics; To make them feel more like something inspired by Transformers rather than a replacement or competitor.

I just got my MP Shockwave in the mail today, and I'm thoroughly enjoying him myself. Admittedly he doesn't have as much going for him as other figures since there's only so much you can take due to him being in like five episodes of the cartoon. Plus I may be biased since I'm a tremendous fanboy who goes out of his way to get all the Chugways.

Have you seen his combination in show? They take quite a few liberties to make his bot mode.
>>
>>5619318
I really like a lot of MP Shockwave's tricks to keep everything mostly self-contained and stable in the long-term. Making his energy cable a metal coil with a string through it to keep it from uncoiling was brilliant. It puts to rest any fear of any rubber or rubberized plastic tearing itself apart while being tugged around by the transformation or just falling apart over time. The barrel is on an armature to keep it attached, folds up into a nice concise backpack, and he has a display stand for his gun mode that doubles as more accurate purple backpack.

May not look as immediately impressive as Quakewave or Quakeblast, but the simplicity of it all is what makes it so cool to me.
>>
>>5619328

The beastmode is probably the weakest overall, but in that pic I also folded his legs in a bit more than you normally would. You can see on the inside of his legs where I folded out some panels.

Personally, I love the wolfmode. The arms/front legs have a lot of articulation, and so does the head. It's only the back legs that are a bit funky, but they serve their purpose and honestly, it's not like you're going to be posing him on your shelf ass-end forward.
