I honest to god don't understand what drives people like Russo who are so prevalent in the fanbase.
With Ed I kinda get it since him along with August are such huge figureheads (though August isn't anywhere near a prude) that continue their livelihood through Kaiju knowledge, but people like Russo accomplish NOTHING, and they actively dislike anything new to come out of the hobby.
They're apathetic of new films, hate fresh designs, criticize merchandise unless it's arthouse vinyls/kits based on specific classic monsters and so on. It's not to say that because it's Godzilla, you HAVE to like it, it's even understandable why people wouldn't care for the rebooted 2014 Godzilla, but these people enjoy nothing! Now John Rocco Roberto, that was a guy who everyone tripped over themselves to memorialize despite his assblasted ragequit of the fandom back in 1999 and attempt to come back to relevance in 2003 that never amounted to anything.
