You know what's weird.

trying to find a reissue Beast Wars Cheetors and finding out that the reissues go for more than the originals who are MISB.

that's so fucking strange.

I need one for Ian Corlett to sign at TFCon.
>>
>>5609860
Okay.
>>
>>5609860
The original Cheetor got a ton of releases in the first year(blue eyes, green eyes, and red eyes version) and was scalped a lot back then. so there's probably quite a few mint ones on the market which killed its value. Also 90's toys in general don't really jump in price with a few exceptions(because people where aware of toys growing in value and thus kept a lot of pristine copies, ironically having the opposite effect and sinking the value. Pricy toys tend to be so out of rarity.). Plus BW fans tend to go for show accuracy over vintage, and most Cheetor releases after the first mimicked the show colors.

Lets say you get to chose who gets an update in the post Titan Wars line. For the sake of variety let's pretend it'll be like thrilling 30, with designs across generations.

I'd have a voyager Polar Claw. Make the bat an automorphing gimmick rather than a launched one, where it can go from being the beast claw, to bat, to a gun. Make the mutant mask a visor like Movie Bumblebee's. Maybe rework the left arm pop out claw gimmick to be a better weapon. And of course make the beast mode a lot better.

Well I always wanted to buy an Optimus Prime ever since I was a kid but never got around to it. None of the live action movie ones because the design sucks. Looking for one more or as close to G1 as possible and die cast as well. I suspect that what I want is really specific and probably really rare and expensive in today's market. I looked up some Optimus Primes like the Year of the Horse version and they're super expensive, like $190 USD. What I want to know is where should I check from time to time for new transformer toy releases? I suspect when these are available for preorder and such they are much cheaper.

If you wait until later in the year, there's a Leader-Class Optimus Prime available based on his G1 Powermaster.

He not only turns into a truck and a robot, but a 'base' mode as well, and his head pops off and becomes a little robot
>>
>>5610149
Voyager class refers to a size class of about 6-8 inches in Transformers. Usually refers to $25-30 dollar retail toys but it's come to be associated with Transformers of that size in general. That figure is a KO of a larger figure.

Anyway, it may help if you say what else you collect, how much you're willing to spend, etc. It would help me find the best option for your collection. As a starter,t he Classics Voyager Optimus is a good G1 Optimus, albeit a non-diecast one.

HasTak isn't in the business of doing diecast figures anymore. Your best bets are KOs and 3rd parties. If you're rolling in cash and don't care about transformation, try the Ultimetal Optimus. It's a licensed 3rd party figure. I believe the Fewture EX Gokin Optimus also has some diecast, that one is closer to a Super Robot Chogokin in terms of play and feel.

Might be into the MP-01. It's very large, but it's hefty with die-cast and comes with quite a bit of cool features. It shouldn't run you as much money if you get him pre-owned w/o box (which is common). I got mine for $70 complete with a little bit of wear, for example.

Alternatively, a KO MP-10. It shouldn't cost you $100 though.

>>
>>5610330
Not him, but people have given numerous reasons to not like the toy:

-Cab doesn't transform into regular Optimus Prime
-Not having PM Prime's guns
-Head looks bad
-The empty space in his arms, and just as bad that there's a piece of the trailer stuck to the arm (disappointing they couldn't make the trailer part a separate piece, have the hollow part be on the section the trailer piece covers, and have the trailer piece go over it).
-Chest piece looks, and it doesn't look anything like Hi-0 (I never liked the PM going over the grill, but if the chest was a homage, it did a poor job of it since no one could tell what it was suppose to be when it was first revealed).
-The cab looks nothing like G1 Prime's cab, or his Classic cab (I personally don't like the cab since it looks like one of those deformed hot wheel that came out years ago, with a grill that's too big, and windows that are way too small)

I think that's all. I think PM Prime deserved it's own mold, and had been something like a Supreme class.

the chest piece's biggest problem is it's taken almost straight off a movie toy. It's the waist armor from this toy. It's meant for a totally different design aesthetic which is why it's out of place here.
>>

>>

they'll go with more of a silver than the sand-toned gray, and blue hands. I don't expect them to get rid of the chest piece though and the hollow arms will stay, Tomy is just fucking lazy with the brand more often than not. The headmaster might get better paints.

I can live with the hollow arms, my only real issue is the Bayformers chest. Though Hasbro's colors are a touch bland but Tomy would have to replace the chest before I drop $80 on an import, slightly better colors alone aren't going to open my wallet.
>>
>>5610363
What's wrong with what I said? Adding a transforming cab, and a higher cost could help fix some of the problems.

Big Bad Toy Store, TF Source, Amazon, Hasbro Toy Shop.

Just you need to watch on Amazon, usually shit will be put up by obvious scalpers before Amazon itself puts it up. That prime you want is going to be a Leader class (around 8-10 inches in height), and around $45-50 MSRP.

I would indeed agree, PMOP should have gotten a bit better treatment than "IDW's magnus impersonator cosplaying as PMOP", but of course, we're asking too much. hasbro's gone mold reuse happy with the "collector oriented" side of stuff since they can't do much with half the molds from their "main" line due to the whole "lol decepticons iz aminulls" thing.

Ginrai's pretty popular over there, so Takara might give enough of a crap for some minor remolding.

I can't get over one thing about the new Powermasters Optimus Prime; why go through the trouble of doing an extensive retool of the cab and NOT make it look more like the classic cab? They might as well had use the Ultra Magnus cab, and replaced the roof to accommodate the helmet piece.
>>
>>5610382
Supreme class doesn't always mean bigger. We had a gigantic Starscream in the Cybertron line, and a much smaller Primus. And don't be a jerk just because I stated an opinion.

That's a bit of an odd situation. For me, a lot of the appeal in a Transformer is the engineering, and only the most drastic of remolds (like Hot Spot to Onslaught) can significantly alter a figure's transformation. It's why I still get antsy about picking up the CW Aerialbots, because they mostly break down into being almost identical bar a different backpack.

Got Tarantulas in the mail today!!!! Been wanting this baby ever since he was announced last fall!

Never had the Rook mold so it's a new experience. The Tarantulas color scheme makes the mold come alive IMHO.

That said, one big problem: the hand/foot attachment does not work with the other CW molds I own/tried it with. And the hand blaster pegs? Only the left one seemed to hold hands/feet Hulk hand style.

But it's a fun standard figure and a worthy remake of such a classic BW figure

There are thousands of cases of just that. Just looking at G1, you had Powerglide, the Seekers (though they partformed to pull it off), Blitzwing (who crammed in a whole extra mode), Broadside, Octane, and a ton of others. And if you look at the more modern stuff, "plane backpack" engineering is vanishingly rare - Animated had Lugnut, Blitzwing, and Starscream, who (though they had backpacks) all had different transformation schemes and incorporated most of the jet into the robot mode.

The reason the Aerialbots are like that is a mix of G1 accuracy and their combiner parts taking up so much of their engineering. Like I said, I know why it is - I just don't really feel like picking up four robots that transform identically.

I'll stop talking about ramjet now since few people show interest (in general not my current postings), but is good (looking up in the thread) people found new ways to enjoy mp shockwave, even if he's more cute than imposing.

Looking at my cw shockwave, I worry if they made a hasbro "toy accurate" version, that purple plastic has a few too many swirls for my liking and best for smaller uses, but the purple paint is pretty, but I doubt they'd paint all of an mp hasbro shockwave, they're known for cost cutting, to paint what takara didn't would be out of character.

Official predaking when?

I'm amazed we got computron but not predaking, so lets help ease our pain, and come up with ways to bring him into our toy riddled lives.

>repurpose the predacons into vehicles with new heads and colors
>retool select vehicles into animal forms
>while less of a possibility, a gestalt akin to cw/uw devastator, an all original non-play pattern compatible figure

I vote heavy retools as the most realistic possibility, since liokaizer who should be 6 bots is 5 and we know who the next titan figures are.
>>
>>5611417
They could just retool some of the animal headmasters in TR.
Alpha Trion into Razorclaw, Mindwipe into Divebomb and Wolfwire into the remaining ones.
>>
>>5611422
...AND the combining gimmick?

Those bodies aren't made to combine, and while I'm no engineering I'm sure suddenly ramming a combiner peg into them may have some effect on the toy, hell do we know if the headmaster bodies are solid or hollow with only enough emptiness for the head to click into?
>>
>>5611399

considering how most hate it, hopefully it'll go down in price.
>>
>>5611424
I'm pretty sure they could replace the headmaster gimmick with combiner pegs for the limbs, but we'll have to see. I do think the Predacons should get original molds though.

Looking at the Rook mold.. It looks to me like there are more levels of retooling than we'd previously considered.

Rook and Swindle are two vastly different versions of the same basic body, essentially a full reshelling.

Hound is the simple head retool we had grown accustomed to since 2010.

And Nosecone is a weird retooling, replacing parts of the Rook mold, but not enough to make it as distinct as Swindle.

I know toy engineering isn't as intricate as it was at the height of ROTF/Generations, but those designers sure know how to make good use of a mold.

>>5611417
Predaking would require 4 mew molds, mainbody animal, "large" animal(like Rook), regular(car bots) and bird type(Airialbots), and would need to be molded vague enough/retoolable to be used for other combiners. Let's say they do get the go-ahead, Predaking is made then it can be redecoed/retooled into a pseudo BW Magnaboss, with Rhinox and Cheetor(?) as added members.

Going with the G1 veterans theme, I'd do ramhorn for Headstrong and catilla for rampage. That said Ramhorn would add the confusing bit of both Tripredacus and Magnaboss having a "Ramhorn". If remolding is allowed I'd nix Ramhorn and make Tantrum a bear to work as Chainclaw.

$20, minimum, shipping means your budget is really $20...for a toy that, 11 years ago, sold for $15 plus tax.
>>

Ramhorn and Tantrum are similar size, so go the Ferel Rex route and change animal heads/legs, that means BW Ironhide would be an elephant head/legs instead either bull or rhino. All of these are G1 styled robo-animals BTW, no mutant BW stuff here.
>>
>>5610129
>I suspect when these are available for preorder and such they are much cheaper.
Most non-exclusives are cheap for a very long time. Toy collecting just has a lot of "lifelong" fans who were born yesterday, coincidentally after that long cheap prriod, and claim they can find anything (in new condition for half MSRP) that kind of skews the picture.

HasTak isn't getting any more use out of Devastator outside a G2 repaint. The current lead designers seem fairly in tune with what fans want in concept. The execution leaves something to be desired however.

I blame the budget. The last design team had a fantastic budget but largely squandered it all on movie shit and overthinking the Classics style toys in Universe. Universe Galvatron is a good example; they made him a realistic tank because they wanted to follow the movie's emphasis on realistic alt-modes.

Fuck, my PCC Bombshock's arm socket cracked.

Any tips on how to repair hairline cracks? I smeared a little superglue inside the crack and I'm hoping for the best.

They'd all need to have collapsable legs that can peg together and waist swivels too so they could have arm modes. Not to mention a fairly flat chest for clearance and a 5mm port on the bottom of the foot.
