Time for a new one.

Also, when the fuck is Carnifex coming out? MMC listed him as coming out last year, and he hasn't popped out yet?

I want Tarn and Overlord. And Overlord a lot more than Tarn.

Isn't the order supposed to be Lockdown/Overlord/Tarn, and none of'em are out yet?
>>
>>5603947
I think so. Overlord is a bit large for me atm so I'm gunning for Lockdown and Tarn.

Honestly I think there won't be any huge announcements or releases until tfcon.
>>
I got roughly $150 dollarydoos this month for tf's. Looking for a decepticon (or multiples) for my MP collection. Not sure where to look. I was thinking MX-II Andras, maybe a galvatron. I really don't know. Looking for suggestions in all honesty.
>>
>>5604246

Any specific characters you like?
>>
>>5604249
I really like Cyclonus, Scourge, Galvatron, the horrorcons, sharkticons. Those would be awesome. I'm a huge fan of the G2 Marvel Comics as well. My dream figure would be an accurate G2 Jhiaxus but I know that will never happen.
>>
>>5604260
>sharkticons

BBTS is kind of on everyone's shit list because of what might have happened with the Botcon Megatron, but they have iGear's Shark Attack Squad 3 pack for $75. I got them in a BST sale a few months ago, and they're pretty cool. Since it's a 3pack, that's only $25 a figure, pretty good deal for a 3P figure. They're a bit tiny, so might not fit MP scale, though.

BBTS and TFsource are both a bunch of greedy shitlords routinely embodying the worst of both toy collectors and retailers alike.

Whether they really are responsible for the mess at Botcon, they have done that kind of shit before. They used to get called out for standing in the lobby at conventions and offering to buy out people's figures for cash, obviously for far less than they intended to sell them for.

It was never conclusively proven, but there were claims that they were cleaning out local TRU stores of MP figures once upon a time as well.

If you want Sharkticons and don't need the box, I have a 3-pack of pic related I would sell you for $60 shipped priority in the US.

I do have the box and they are brand new in it, but that thing is just massive and would be like another $10 added on for shipping because of its size.

Hit me up either way and we could talk it out:

Wasn't MMC supposed to be going under and Feral Rex was their last big project? That's what some anon claimed on here.
>>
>>5604290
Didn't know about the igear set. I only knew about the chibi looking UT set. Thanks for mentioning these. Just ordered my set of them. I think they are MP scale enough. They are 5 inches tall in robot mode. Scale charts don't include sharkticons, but Wheelie does ride them (and covers most of Gnaw's head) in the series. Good enough for me, as well as the closest to MP Sharkies we will probably see.

Now if I can just find me some sweet horrorcon figures.
>>
>>5605456
No? Their not-Kaon just came out and they've been showing prototypes of Carnifex and renders of that Tarn every ones talking about.
>>
>>5605456
I think they were going under, but Feral Rex pulled them out of the grave for the time being. They don't make a whole lot, and other companies are certainly trumping them on figures atm. They will probably always be around producing things at a snails pace.
>>
>>5605456

The Knight Morpher stuff put them in the red but Hex and Rex pulled them out of it. Everything they've made since has sold out on its initial run. Only thing that might not is Their Nova Prime which they fucked up.

Well, I just got my Hexatron, and suffice to say, I'm fucking sold on their quality. Just, holy shit, this thing is amazing. I want a Feral Rex too, but thats gonna take a bit of saving and some hearty self-justification to waste $600 on a toy.

His "insider info" may have been the original pitches for Combiner Wars and his addled brain filled in the rest with wishful fanwank

Why would you blame Hasbro for their bad actions? Seems a bit ridiculous.

Saturday morning,, the first person in line bought every last remaining Megatron in stock. Rumours abound that it was a BBTS guy who did it, but nobody has fessed up and BBTS denies it was them.

They may or may not have bought out all the remaining Megatron's at the con on Saturday when the retards running it removed the 1 per customer limit.

Twice? I know they shut down TFSource for three hours on Saturday for passing out flyers to a 3P meet nearby. What was the second time?

I'd watch that for a dollar
>>
>>5606096
Really? That sucks. I went to Botcon last year and they had a 3P meet up in the hotel across the street. My buddy and I actually had more fun over there than at the con itself. The only thing I bought was a Hexatron print from the guy who did the card art, a shirt that said "When I party, I third party", and a Felisaber (that I bought in the con's sale room).
>>
>>5606096
How? It wasn't even at the same place.
>>
>>5606208
No one has said yet. We may never know.
>>
>>5605342
It's called budgeting. I've known for over a year that Overlord is coming out and I've saved up money for him, I've known Tarn is coming out and I've also saved up money for him. It's really not that difficult. With how long it takes MMC to release things from start to the actual product I could save enough to buy ten Overlords.
>>
>>5605945
That's not what happened but whatever.
>>
>>5606215
They were aware of the meet-up thanks to the flyer, they simply had to tell the hotel hosting it (my guess).

Too G1 for me. I'd prefer something that could go toe to toe with Stormbringer Ginrai as well. I think it would be cool to have an action master Megs, per canon, that had transformable drones that turned into armor for him.

Tank Megs or even Bomber would be fine too. Something more functional than a gun no one can wield.

Come now, G1 just looks so dated when you compare it to War Within, FoC/WfC, IDW or MTMTE.

Sure it was my first love but I've moved on. Even the MP line has no appeal for me. That's why I collect 3P, Iron Factory, Maketoys, MMC, Planet X, some older Fansproject figures. They scratch that robot itch for me, I'd still buy them even if they were all OCs.

I see what you mean, but I always think about the old designs of G1 characters that never got good, accurate toys, like Sixshot.

>Your pic is a good example. as an anime robot, he looks fucking nice, (and i'd honestly buy it if he wasnt gonna be $100+), but as G1 Hotspot, it leaves alot to be desired

Exactly why I didn't even bother with the set. G1 faithfulness aside non of them invoke the characters to me. As you said they seem like generic anime super robots.

What's weirder still is that Maketoys Defensor himself is VERY G1 accurate, (he's basically a stronger looking, anime version of UW Defensor), its just the individuals who look different. Odd choice

It's not really partsforming though. The parts that Groove and Streetwise clip onto are actually Hotspot's feet. They fold down to form the calves and then the Defensor feet plug into them. That's why Hotspot's feet have those rectangular holes in the toes. That's where the Defensor feet plug in. It's not too terribly different than what Fansproject's Menesor did. You could effectively still make Defensor without Groove and Streetwise, it just probably wouldn't stand very well without their weight helping to balance it.

The limbs look like a clusterfuck though. Instead of being broken up in satisfying chunks it just looks like there is shit everywhere, especially those legs. The articulation and range look great though. I just can't get over Hotspot in other modes. Not that I care for G1 Hotspot's look, I just don't like Vulcan and how he's broken up. I do like how you can position the ladder on the combiner, but honestly I think I would prefer to leave it off both robot and combined mode. First aid and Blades just really don't do it for me either.

I picked up Streetwise though who is great.

>>5608992
That's a fuckhuge Swoop compared to his teammates. Gcreations looks to be improving and while the combined mode is looking worthwhile the bits that accomplish the transformation, like the removable parts, chests, arm connectors, and even port covers turn me way the hell off. Oh and the greebles. Jesus. At least their MP IDW tease looks like a much improved aesthetic. .
>>
>>5609252
$75.99, no trailer, I think it's a separate purchase? Really my first delve into 3rd party or KO Transformers.

Been browsing TF Direct and saw what looks like a Coronation Starscream for pre-order. Are they a good place to get these stuff from? Or is there a cheaper place?
>>
>>5607985
like other MT combiners looks good in combined mode but individuals are guaranteed to be a fiddly mess and not even look that much like the characters.

I'll stick to UW defensor.
>>
>>5609323
I don't know why everyone complains about the single bots, I happen to like them a lot and think they're fun to play with. Groove is especially great!
>>
>>5609378

Probably because people expect G1/CHUG/IDW (pick whatever) designs, and a lot of these stray too far from that.

The boldforms lonewolf was an alternate menasor and that turned out to be a lemon. So be careful for what you wish for there.

Wasn't that just a failed attempt at a failed full combiner set that they slapped some crappy adapters on when it became obvious no one was interested?
>>

This is how I'd imagine the WFC/FOC bots would look like if they landed on earth.
>>
>>5607985
Gotta be honest, I love the looks of these guys. Vulcan is definitely a weak link (a bit too much robot/combiner detail visible in vehicle mode) but still looks great. The limb-bots look fantastic (especially Groove and Blades) and the combined mode, messy legs aside, looks awesome. But then I am a sucker for MT's anime-esque aesthetic.

>>
>>5609890
Yeah but Boldform clearly doesn't have a clue what they're doing. Plenty of other 3P companies have proven themselves to be pretty consistently good. Then again, those companies all would much rather do the whole combiner from scratch and really, it's better that way. There's not really much sense in polishing a turd when you're capable of crafting a gem.

Kinda my problem with a lot of Cybertronian forms. Not all of them fall into this trap but a lot of them end up as either a mess or a block with the excuse of "they're aliens!" I understand that but even alien vehicles still need to enforce certain design cues, features, and shapes to be recognizable as a what you're telling me it is. Megatron seems to have particularly notorious for this crap in some of his more recent adaptations and just end up looking like a half exploded robot that you folded up into a random shape. The robot mode still looks baller but jesus, those alt modes are awful.

He's one of the least frustrating IF toys out there - nice and simple. He's nice and chunky, with a good heft of extra loot.

If you've ever handled the IF Sixgun set, he's very similar to them - not as futtery as Blitzwing.
>>
>>5610620
Imo, yes. I really like him and he feels high quality. Note though, that his wheels don't turn. He comes with the weapons packs that IF always includes and two sets of his own weapons, in white and gray. Some people think the IF datsuns also have static wheels, but no it's just Ultra Magnus.
>>
>>5610620

IF's Not-Overlord (Evil Lord) is also pretty damn nice.
>>
>>5610625

Whats frustrating about other IF stuff? I'm curious because I might buy more of it.
>>
>>5611141
stuff tabs together so tightly your fingers break before the toy does.
>>
>>5611158

I noticed in a bunch of reviews speaking about Not-Magnus that he was really tightly tabbed. I've got a Not-Overlord and he seemed to secure just fine, no extra pressure or weirdness needed.

Guessing this is a common problem then for them? Tolerances being too tight?

What the others said - some stuff pegs/tabs in REALLY TIGHTLY, and can be a pain to get free. Scary too as I don't really want to break the damn toy.

Overlord and Sixgun seemed to be fine for this, maybe needing a little bit of extra force. Magnus and Blitzwing had it bad though. Magnus seems fine now, but the fucking ankles on Blitz are a nightmare.

Transformation can also be a bit of a pain - parts need to be at the EXACT POINT AND ANGLE to fit in properly, and combined with the extra-tight joints this sometimes can get annoying.

Depends on the figure really.

The Datsuns are nice, but I found the altmodes a pain to get right - nothing seemed to sit exactly where I wanted them to. Unique weapons too, whereas the other sets come with the shotgun-drone thing, so not as many accessories but you are getting 3 figures out of it.

No idea why they used so much transparent red. All I can guess is that either they just think it looks good and/or they have to have a clear sprue for the light piping anyway, and it worked out more economical to put more parts on that set while they were at it. Honestly, I kinda like most of it, it helps break up the rest. Those clear hands worry me a bit though in terms of long-term durability.

>>5612685
This one gets a bit of an excuse from that given that Jarugar makes up only the hips, not the whole torso, and it is G1 accurate. If you didn't do it that way, people would call it out for being inaccurate.
