Those of you just joining us, please read this guide. Please read it before asking questions as there is a chance it has already been answered there.

For those unfamiliar, "Plamo" is a shortened form of "plastic model." If it's made of plastic, someone can probably help you here.

What kits or add-ons come with pre-pose pointing fingers?
>>
>>5593517
That is a damn good question.
I'm not sure.
Off the top of my head I think the HG Nobel comes with two peace sign hands that you could mod into a pointing finger.
The only other options I can think of would be any MG with separate fingers or any PG.
>>
>>5593576
There are the Hobby Base Premium Parts Collection Mechanical Hands which come in 1/144, and are fully pose-able, but I haven't built mine yet, because the fingers are so fucking tiny I don't trust my current nippers to not fuck it up.
>>
>>5593588
It can pose but is quite fragile due to the way the finger to hand connection works.

Don't know why I got a pair for anyway, I don't do much posing of the fingers.
>>

Sorry, reposting to fix the rotated picture.

Finished this guy earlier, very fun and simple build that only took a few hours to complete. I'll be going back for panel lining later and then I think I'll just add some top coat to take off the shine as the colour seperation is adequate for such a simply coloured mech. My first IBO kit and I'm really impressed, I'll probably pre-order the Grimgerde from these impressions.

So I'm thinking of doing something medieval fantasy with a kit. Something like a stone guardian or a knight walking up some stone steps I could make out of styrofoam and paint up gray.

Now I have to think of a kit that looks best. I also can't decide if I want to go the knight route with rust and iron, or go stone guardian with muted colors like gray and green.

I guess the best place is to start with kits. Suggestions?

This, I'm fairly new to Plamo and just this last week got some sanding sticks and they are a godsend, you can't even tell you cut it off a sprue once you're done using them.

I'm not super satisfied with the exact ones I bought though due to them wearing out absurdly fast. Anyone have any recommendations?
>>
>>5594153
Double-sided tape and sanding paper. Cut strips and glue them onto a metal file.

Do any of you guys make your own waterslide decals? I'm refurbishing a bunch of my old kits and don't feel like dropping 40 bucks for official decal sheets. Is there a good place online to order inkjet paper? My nearest hobby store in an hour drive away and they tend to not stock shit I need, so I'd much rather just have what I need delivered.

Also, some people are telling me I need to buy a special coating spray but others are saying I can just use regular glosscoat.
>>
>>5594188
From what I've heard, you may need a special printer to print those. Alternatively, while I don't have any personal experience, but I've heard good things about samueldecal for custom printed decals and such.
>>
>>5594203
Is there any 3rd party decals that is as sharp as Bandai's in terms of quality?

Samuel decal was a bit lacking for me.
>>
>>5594203

You don't need a special printer, just special paper. You've got to hit it with some kind of coating after you print, though and I'm getting conflicting reports on that point.
>>
>>5594214

I've found that a couple of coats pf spray varnish are fine. It's purely to seal the ink in and stop it from running.

I got my paper from eBay but I've never used it for 'proper' models. I bought it to add random interest bits to free-flight and radio controlled aircraft. Seemed pretty thick though. Looked like even to Microset/sol it might not settle.
>>
>>5594214
You need a special printer for white decals, and really any light color decals. Light ink actually comes out translucent
>>
>>5594235

Yes, I know. That's why they make white decal paper.

Meant to say Revive HG. But it's been years since they announced the GM was part of planning and really shouldn't take that long for a kit that's already got a pre-existing mold for 70% of its body.

I agree; the original HGUC GM is really good, especially for its age. My only gripe would be how gummy the detail is on the open hand, but that comes with its age and I never use the damn thing anyways.

If Bandai does make the GM for HG Revive, will they stick with the single piece for the front skirts or go with the separated pieces (middle connector and skirts) like with every other GM, or include both like with the MG 2.0?
>>
>>5593689
no problem man, it's definitely a fun kitty even though I have done little with it due to trying to get time to finish detailing it up. Its got some weird engineering choices for the shoulder and hip joints, not bad mind you, just weird. Of the three hmms I got, seems like they always do something very different for those particular joints.
I do have one kinda big complaint and a more minor quirk that irks me slightly. The complaint is the vertical movement of the head and neck, the head itself can look down easily, but can't look up at all due to a ridge extending over the joint. Sadly this is something I am very hesitant to take a knife to and fix due to how much of the head will be cut. The neck joint however really can't move up or down much at all, I managed to add a couple more degrees of Upward movement, not nearly enough to be happy with. It's not that huge of a deal really as it gets plenty of horizontal movement and it's meant to be such a high speed sleek machine that it really doesn't look that great in poses that don't accentuate how this streamlined this thing is. The tiny minor quirk that really is mostly just my autism is the missile launchers hidden on its back. The missiles look to be smaller then a pilots head and probably very stumpy looking, like discs almost from how thin the launcher panel is.

I do plan on nabbing the Leena special soon myself, love gun snipers one of my favorite units.

On the command wolf, I suggest paying close attention assembling the head and jaws as to how everything presses together and what impedes movements. You will likely be quite dissatisfied with how little opening movement the jaws got by default, unless this was fixed in the repackage which I doubt. In my images that is actually a lot more open then they are allowed from the kit. So some snipping and slicing will be needed in the jaws for that. There is a guide somewhere out there that can help with that which I discovered after doing the fix myself.

Overall I think the gyagya has the most knightly features going on. Another anon mentioned tall geese as well which has some more of a legionaire type of look, but it may be what you like.

A lot of the ibo suits got some aspects that lend themselves to a knightish look. I also thought the barbatos had a slight bit of knightly look, especially in the pauldrons. The grimgerde's head reminds me slightly of some fantasy game helmets like dark souls artorias I think comes to mind. Then there is the kimaris it has a lot more knightly look going on then the other suits in the show.

But really I don't think you will go wrong with gyagya as a base.

the beautiful thing about unicorn is the line arts are easy to recolor, or you could buy a banshee, give it green frame, give a unicorn gold frame or make a full armor banshee etc.

If not built you can gift one as a present, if built gift or use for painting and experimenting. change its horn to something else that when it opens up makes it still seem mythical or noble. Lion, phoenix, unicorn, dragon, bull, snake etc.

The HG GM does have the seam on the arms and legs, 90° articulation and actually that's my only gripes with it.

Then it's p-bandai cannon, real type color, all those side stories colors etc.

>Where does all that extra height comes from? The lower legs? Or is it just longer legs.

Longer and thicker limbs in general. The chest, waist, and crotch sizes look to be about the same size as the Graze.
>>
>>5595317
>Where does all that extra height comes from?
The legs now have bigger knee joints and are lengthened in the thighs and calves. The feet look to be a similar height to the original high heels. There's also changes to the torso. It's especially apparent when you see how much more of the abdomen is exposed next to the regular Graze.
>>
>>5595330
>There's also changes to the torso. It's especially apparent when you see how much more of the abdomen is exposed next to the regular Graze.
Actually, scratch this. I just realized the Graze Ein is simply missing the little green piece above the crotch.
>>
>>5595330
>It's especially apparent when you see how much more of the abdomen is exposed next to the regular Graze.

I like the idea behind the Graze Ein but I just don't like the execution. I wish there were some sort of UC based alternative that was an over the top take on a normal design, and powered by someone who has greater control by giving up some of their humanity in a way.

I'm not all that experienced yet, and don't have the skills or the balls to pull off a full-body paintjob on a kit as big, complex, and pricey as an Iron Kong. Right now I'm more of like...a minor paint touch ups kinda guy.
>>
>>5596801
>>5596897
Well the image in the corner? Take a close look at it and next to it are alt color bits, they used an uncool red prototype to show off what all those alternate bits are and what they attach to.

You can actually see on the two images of the red Kong that the heads have different color bits the big image has red bits on the head for some reason while the smaller image has everything green. I assume those bits might be preorder bonus? Or perhaps a new cp.

On the point about painting it. I think Kong actually won't be that big an issue to paint. You don't like the red right? All you would want to do is have just the red replaced at the least right? Well you in luck man, from what I can tell of the packaging and images of the other Kong kits, the pieces that would need coloring are both few in number and rather large pieces. You just need to hit those pieces with a can of spray paint, no need for any skill or anything with them. And if you want extra levels of painting the bare minimum of model, you can give it a Schwartz color scheme and leave some areas red anyway.

Then you hit everything with some flat topcoat and presto, now the entire kit looks like it was painted and not just a few areas. I have done that with my kampfer, only painted the blue armor bits since the plastic was not even remotely blue and you can't tell what got paint and what didn't now.

Honestly the only reason I see not to get this kit in your case, is if money is a concern, cause let's face it, that is pricey.

train scales are weird because they try to proportionately match different rail gauges at the same scale or some shit, so everything is weird numbers and varying sizes. im sure they make cars at smaller scales, but the detail loss and limited selection isnt worth the trouble.

Needed? no, but it sure as hell makes the model look better. You could probably use a sumi-ire pen to get around your Parkinsons
>>
>>5597985
Then use a ink wash technique, you don't need precision for ink washing. There are also pour type gundam markers that do pretty much the same thing as a ink wash, you just press the tip to the line and then the paint will flow throughout a good chunk of the panel line on its own. That crap is called capillary action and its friggin amazing. If you are looking for those markers then look for the numbers gm 30X, for example gm301 is black iirc.

Yeah, going for an Obari pose, which is best viewed from literally every other angle.
>>
>>5600035
Ehh, still not feeling it, and good poses should look good from any angle. For one you're doing what seems to be a standing pose while having your kit on the air on a base, so he just looks like he's awkwardly floating instead of standing strong or mid-flight. The pose also looks very stiff and boring, you should probably use that waist more (luckily barbatos has good waist mobility), bend the knees and just make it overall more dynamic. Obari is great because he can make a robot standing totally still look dynamic as fuck, but drawings let you do far more than moving joint son a model kit will.
>>
>>5600067
You misunderstand. Barbatos is holding himself up solely by clenching his ass around the peg. His limbs are just stiff and feet and hands posed like that from the strain of maintaining it.

>>
>>5600135
From what I've seen and adopted, seam-weilding works after you've snap-built the kit to see what you'll be painting and the like. With seam-weilding coming in afterwards after you're sure of what you wanna keep together instead of apart for painting.

Plan on recoloring MG 00 Quanta.

The frame I will probably leave unpainted. I want to maintain dark gray and green.
I wanted to avoid red, but no other color seemed to work for the chin and below the eyes, so I added red to the chest fin to go along with it.
The light gray (of the armor, not the joints) I plan on going flat silver.

If I have white primer, do I really need white paint to go on top of the white primer?

RX-78-1, Desert Zaku, and Zaku Cannon come to mind. The Psychommu Test Zaku would also be interesting.

Also this>>5601722

All those too. I have some of the old msv zakus and theyre great, but a modern version would be godly
>>
>>5601722
I would love them to do a variant of the GM units designed after Gundam types variants.

>>5601741
I forgot that psychommu zaku existed. But yeah the MSD line is one large potential for untapped msv units. Maybe we'll get to see the Zaku High Mobility Type 3 or the Prototype Kampfer.

Is there any additional info on the RG 00 Qan[T]? like if it come with beam effect parts, stand for the sword bits, and the GN Sword IV
>>
>>5601768
Knowing Bandai those will be P-bandai.
>>
Not really. Not if the parts are white to begin with.

Otherwise, the answer is always yes. In fact, when turning colored parts white, it's best to begin with a grey and follow up with white primer before putting on your final white paint mix.
>>
Is there more complex snapkits than bandai? I just want something that takes a bunch of time.

Grey primer first then white primer then white paint

Correct.
>>
>>5601890

Some of the larger HMM Zoids have a fuckload of parts. I dunno if they're above PGs and such though.
>>
>>5601890
Have you tried an RG or PG yet?

>Implying I dont have plans for both

Sorry as I said Id lend one to a trustworthy skilled recaster if I could but as is Im gonna do a standard one and white dingos. It would take some work too as its not the best cast, they were from the Chinese magazine awhile back. Besides its not the full on sexy original design which if they ever make im getting as well... dont judge me and my gm cannon fetish.

Having fun trying some new stuff with this kit, I changed up the hatch today. Rest is still a mess because of the surfacing on the chest.

get an AC kit or the HMM Death Stinger
>>
>>5601945
I've done the Gundam MKII RG, but I don't really have the space for PG.

Just finished this fabulous bitch. Honestly the first time on a kit that I've built that I've seen big stickers turn out okay looking.

When I end up getting paint supplies eventually, I'll have to detail this one. She deserves better than a black sword.

Well, she also deserved better than living for like 3 episodes but that's something else entirely.

second season or pbandai hurry up ground type now damn it.
>>
>>5602111
Now that's her fault for doing the thing and than expect them to be civil about it.
>>
>>5601738
Yes.
>>
>>5601741
Yeah, Im really hoping we get a MSD or something of that silly thing. I like it. Plus it sort of existed in GBFT as well, but we never got a kit of the Kraken.

>stickers already peeling
i fucking hate this, any tips on how to prevent this?
>>
>>5602152
All I can really recommend is to be extremely careful when placing and don't ever touch them after doing so. The adhesive is just enough that they stay in place but allow a little position fine tuning, and they restick (mostly) if you want to peel it off and reapply. Maybe they make some sort of extra adhesive you could add, I don't know.

>>5602129
She was too kind and pure for this world.

Oh, also I didn't build my Graze with them but the Graze Ritter comes with all of the space type thrusters, armor and weapons along with the regular non-commander head and shoulders.

Use paint instead of stickers :^)

Joking aside, an Elmer's glue stick comes in handy in the off chance I'm straight-building a kit and using the stickers. I just apply it to the edges before firmly pressing on all the surfaces. Works marvelously on peeling stickers, too.
