MP shockwave is out now and Botcon is next weekend. Remember no 3d party figs there!
>>
>>5588056
Is that your picture? If so is ratbat worth $10?
>>
Asking here again.

Any ideas for a motorcycle Transformer that scales decently with 1/12 figures?

WreckGar and his retools are on the list.
>>
>>5588061
KO ratbat isn't great, but you can get him for like 15$ on ebay from china, I say he's worth it just to not have to buy soundblaster
>>
>>5588064

Maybe Chromia, if you did something to her to remove the plastic dome atop her cycle.
>>
>>5588064
Not sure how they're going to scale but Animated Oil Slick and RID15 Fracture
>>
>>5588064
people answered you extensively over there.
Movie Arcee, both the 2007 and the shitty rotf ones are about the same size, but not perfect.
Figma keep getting smaller so the scale is better with newer ones than older ones.

First movie? Not many. Voyager ratchet is a really solid figure. Leader megatron, while ugly, is a chunk of fun.

I'd say the best toy in the line was leader brawl. Holy shit he was awesome with all kinds of neat little features.
>>
Sirtoys is selling (not pre-ordering) MP-11 Starscream figures now.

They are $120... which is pretty fucking pricey for a KO.
>>
>>5588146
DESU the deluxe figures were probably the best from the first movie line. The Second movie toy line however is chock-full of really nice quality figures. I could recommend just about any of the RotF line figures.

Im not digging the CW+BW hybrid shit
It's not appealing and they have already had a year that was BW cast as cars and planes. I'd much rather they just had a mix and the Combiner was either purely OC or at least some 5+ combiner that did exist in the toy history and just have the rest be generation retools and what not for the BW anniversary.

>>
>>5588324
Honestly, I think it's just the complete lack of paint. There are still some pretty well defined lines in there but red plastic is notorious for just sucking up all of the sculpted details unless they are extremely sharp and defined angles. Because most of this guy is more rounded, those sculpted details aren't showing too well. Some actual paint on him would go a LOOOOOOOONG way. Maybe some darker and lighter reds just to pick out the crest and the parts around his eyes and mouth and make them pop.
>>
>>5588501

All of that together is probably around $600-700. US. So yeah it is kind of close.

It's mostly the Leaders and Maximus jacking up the total though. $50 a pop and Maximus probably sitting at $150 is more together than all of the Deluxe's and Legends combined.

Honestly, the only one on there that I know I'm going to buy is Wheelie. I already have the Jazz retool but as much fun as that mold is, I would like to replace him with a more appropriately scaled Wheelie. Plus, he just plain looks really good.

I just don't know about anybody else. Maybe Astrotrain because he does look pretty fun and his bot mode is actually pretty alright but I'm still having a hard time getting past the EVERYBODY IS HEADMASTERS gimmick. It makes for fun toys but it bugs me in terms of the characters and I don't like that none of them can be transformed without removing the heads. Blurr is the same story. Galvatron is also a maybe but the hollow forearms on a voyager are a big turnoff. Powermaster Prime is also on the maybe list but he's Magnus all over again and also has the same problem of being extremely hollow. I might pick up some of the actual Headmaster characters but the only one that really looks decent to me is Chromedome.

I still see a lot of these being fun toys but I also collect to display and I just don't feel like many of these fit my display too well so it makes it harder to justify the purchase.

Or, just switch the hands. deosn't he have a waist? I don't think you need to take the legs off.

Definitely going with Takara, the only one that I'm 50/50 on is nosecone, the hasbro one is probably in the robot mode going to be more accurate, but the mold is inferior to the rook one, and the amount of retooling definetely puts takaras over the edge.

You don't even need to do that, all limbs have waist swivels.

The mace was just a fan design.

It's pleasing to see that most of his gimmicks are internal pieces. Some of them mess with the way the ape mode looks (ie. the forearm rockets), but I don't mind as much if it means all of that stuff is contained.

Is there a place for the swords to go?

Is kibble the right term if the piece is mostly integrated into the limb? It's certainly an unsightly piece of the other mode, but I thought 'kibble' just referred to parts that hung off from the figure.

I don't think it's wrong to watch/read reviews for toys you own. It's always interesting to see other people's opinions; sometimes it can change the way you view that toy, other times you might learn about a not-so-obvious feature.

Also, there's something gratifying about seeing praise-giving reviews on a figure you particularly like.
>>
>>5588702
And I have ad block, but that's just me.

>>5588703
I technically paid for it but it hasn't shipped yet, I just like to see multiple opinions.

He's found flaws other reviewers haven't, one good thing about optibotimus is he whines.

I don't like reviewers who over praise anything.
>>
>>5588703

>>
>>5588683
>Is there a place for the swords to go?
They can store in robot mode but can't in beast. IIRC they specifically mentioned that they didn't so they could preserve the look of the beast mode.
>>
>>5588706
Some people just want to listen, creates discussions, perhaps solve issues (sometimes I've found I mis-transformed second hand figures).

The point of a review is more than "should I buy", its possible to entertain viewers in review format (whether its their gimmicks like felzbug or just them fucking up transformations) , and perhaps learn something.

For me all I have for news is you guys and reviewers, I find more "common faults" from reviewers than here.

But hay it's just my take, nothing wrong with not watching them, they're just shills at the end of the day

i cant say i'm not disappointed with the toy, though..

it's good, but it wouldnt have been difficult to make him better

I could go out right now and buy Legends Shockwave for a fraction of MP Shockwave's price, and Legends SHockwave is going to have more articulation. Doesn't that seem a a bit wrong?

only reason MP Shockwave can't bend his knees alot is because of a negligible piece of kibble that no one would have complained had it been left out

Again, good toy, could have easily been better

You know what this implies?

His mistake was responding to your response, your mistake was assuming he SHOULD know when many of us don't.

It's still a terrible comparison, considering the main reason the Legends figure's legs have "more articulation" is because the back of his legs are completely hollow to allow them to fold over themselves for the transformation. Of course there's going to be more range of motion when there isn't even the back of a leg to get in the way. Good luck getting away with that on MP.

>>
>>5588933
I don't get the argument between the legends and the mp.

This isn't like the cheap hasbro statueshit titans, smaller figures can have more articulation as an incentive to compete with bigger figures, the price of the mp is to get the look, paint apps, engineering to make something (mostly) cartoon accurate while being true to its transformed state.

The fact they can move as well as they do is impressive, we've come a long way from g1 bricks and if a cheaper toy can move better than a bigger one that's more involved transformation wise great.

For me at least, it's frustrating that after all this time and updates in engineering techniques, high end collectables still have awkward compromises.

How long has it been since a Masterpiece had double elbows and/or knees or unobtrusive hip armor or ball-jointed heads? Tracks had limited elbows, Primal has hinge elbows, Laserwave has blocked knees, Ironhide was Ironhide was Ironhide, and so forth.

For every Hot Rod, there's five or six MPs that suffer from compromises that have no reason to exist. If there's anything we've learned from third party companies, it's that people are willing to pay for perfection, so it's upsetting when the official companies skimp out.

I FINALLY found a Viper in a store, grabbing the only one here. It's my first time with the mold.
- Are the engines SUPPOSED TO not stop while sliding them and be able to come right off?
- Is the landing gear SUPPOSED TO have those front and rear-facing fin bits make the handle be way bigger than 5mm?

>>
>>5589093

The engines aren't supposed to come off, no, you probably hamhanded it. The other part might just be tolerances being wonky on either the hand you're trying to put him into, or the landing gear handle itself.

I've got Powerglide, he's the same exact mold sans head, don't have either of those problems.

>>
>>5589115
You're not alone, the Powerglide mold started out kinda crap and kept getting worse with each successive use. I had to return two of them before I got one that didn't have cracked joints or broken tailfins. Viper was almost as bad, only had to return one due to issues.

The tailfins just keep stressing and falling off whenever they were turned, so in the end I just drilled holes through them and used long screws to bolt them down.
>>
Bare plastic aside Shockwave beat all my expectations.

He's deceptively complex and just the right size. Takara pretty much thought of everything here.
>>
>>5589143

I don't see a problem with bare plastic.

Paint scratches, chips, erodes. My MP-28 had a bit of a paint "blip" on the chest paint, guess what, it scratched. Now he has a (barely noticeable) chip on his chest. And that sucks ass. You can't even really see it, but I know it's there, and it sucks.

Welp, found the problem with one of the engines. I didn't do that myself. There was also mold flash along the inside of the engine that scraped up the cylinder it was mounted on. The other engine looks fine, I don't know why it wants to slide off. As for the handle, I ended up having to cut away HALF of the thickness of each of those fins to get it to fit in any peghole.

At least the legs hold together well.
