This is the set I regret not buying the most besides the Medieval Market Village. You got so much with it. A gold knight, a jester (which was new at the time), a queen, a soldier, some skeletons and one that looks like the Grim Reaper with a skeleton horse even. It was $40 and I think within the year it was retired, it shot up to $80. I hadn't gotten back into buying toys of any kind yet, though I looked on this board frequently. I just wasn't sure if it was ok to spend my money on it back then.

>Lego actually but in place pieces in my speed train that will fit the lights I ordered

Now that's cool. But why weren't the lights included to begin with? Also pretty cool that the lights can be dimmed by the remote.

And I can see why you guys don't like the flexible tracks.
>>
>>5581488
>Now that's cool. But why weren't the lights included to begin with?
To lower the price of the set. More people will buy the train at a lower price, then a good portion of them will want to light it so they'll go buy the stuff to do so, but allowing the people who have no interest in the lights to just have the train at the lower price.

>NO ONE loses here
It's not a hug circle, it's business.

To quote Ray Kroc, founder of the McDonalds corporation: "If any of my competitors were drowning, I'd stick a hose in their mouth and turn on the water. It is ridiculous to call this an industry. This is not. This is rat eat rat, dog eat dog. I'll kill 'em, and I'm going to kill 'em before they kill me. You're talking about the American way – of survival of the fittest."

Corporations aren't just trying not to lose, they're trying to win and have everybody else lose.

Im kind of in a bit of a pickle here.

I am going to have access the over $200 in a day or two that we originally set aside for the classic batcave set. We waited until april on purpose so we could get the mr. freeze figure to go with it, kill all birds with one stone situation. Well, all I really WANT out of the cave set is the figures and the batmobile, and I have kind of fallen in love with the temple of airjitsu set.....

What do?

I figure that the....figures along with the batcar will still be pretty pricey on BL, and either way I get freeze for sure, so.....?

Help me lego gen, youre my only hope (even though you guys despise me)!
>>
>>5581776

In my honest opinion the figs from the batcave are great and the set is shit.

The reverse is true for the Temple. Amazing set, I couldn't care less for the figs, I don't care about Ninjago at all.
>>
>>5581776

me too man, I fell in love with the temple of airjitzu set and want one this summer. dat building techniques

the minifigures in it are just a bonus
>>
>>5581776
Both are pretty solid sets in my opinion. But I'm a little biased towards saying the Airjitsu temple is cooler, because the japanese architecture just looks so stunning.

While the Batman build has lots of cool little accessories and features, as well as the vehicles and variety of minifigures. My only disappointment with the Batman set is no Batgirl.

Honestly I don't think you can go wrong either way.

I currently have the Brick Bank and was wondering which of the following three I should pick up next

- Parisian Restaurant
- Detective's Office
- Palace Cinema
>>
>>5582221

Parisian Restaurant is the best of those three--really, I just think it is the best modular to begin with.

However, I think the Detective's Office actually looks pretty neat near the bank, and, in my head, it sort of works in the old-timey look they were going for with the 1920s/1930s look for the Detective's Office. The Pet Shop looks pretty good thrown in there with those two as well.

The Cinema is nice, but I think its more of a middle-tier Modular.

just bought an entire eastpack full of 70s lego,
it's a bit yellowed here and there, and all the tiles don't have ridges for your fingernails yet but all the bricks clutch like a motherfucker.

It also has quite a bit of STAMPS and a shitload of regular white bricks. They're probably all from sets with the old "giants"

Here's a quick pic to show some more detailed and fun STAMPS and their brickbuilt counterparts by me that i already built. While you can see the Piano is of xbox behemoth proportions, the tv is pretty almost spot in scale to my earlier tv. While it wasn't probably meant as such a wide screen thing in a bigger scale it still works really great with minifigs!

It wouldn't be so bad if it actually felt like a $30 set instead of being a really bare $20 build with a $10 hover horse. Seriously, compare it to the lava smasher and they are just about the same size and complexity, meanwhile the rumble blade has the same relative cost difference while being well over double the size and complexity. The chariot just simply does not fit its price and completely ruins its value, made worse by the fact that it is a fairly simple build without any cool features, mechanics, or techniques. The only redeeming aspects of the set is printed globlin heads for giant 2-headed globlin MOC and Macy's hover horse.

>Dad gets angry
>Takes all the pieces from me
>Tells me he will 'tell me what to do' to help me build
>takes the whole set and walks away
>comes back 2 hours later with hand-made instruction booklets and a box of generic lego bricks
>gives me a few booklets
>says 'build these things with these bricks and they will go in the castle'
>my 'instructions' are for 7 white bricks in a circle with some brown in the middle which has the word 'chamberpot' written in hand, 10 black bricks stuck together with the word 'castle defence oil attack' written on, and a bunch of lego crocodiles and sharks that I am supposed to stick onto a flat piece and this is called 'attacking shark and crocodile forces'
>he walks off
>tells me he will come when he finishes the rest of the castle
>I build my pieces
>sit bored for a few hours
>he comes and tells me the castle is done
>I present my work
>he basically ignores it
>keeps the castle in his room for the next year
>never even thanks me for helping
>the only thing that I build that he took was the 'castle defence oil attack' which he would throw at me if I tried to go and look at the castle
>then he would laugh and say 'wow son this oil defence really works, good job!'

This should have been a great time

So after a month of not buying any LEGO, I decided to let myself splurge. I bricklinked about 60 Euro worth of stuff, including Lance and his flying horse, some Justice League members (Cyborg!), some minifig parts for purist customs and a bunch of minifig utensils.

It isn't exactly a bad set, as I said before, it just doesn't compare well with other sets for that price and doesn't bring very much to the table save for unique pieces. It is overall underwhelming, but not an unfinished piece of shit like the rumble mace.

I'm using a gopro camera to film my stuff. However, gopros don't really focus well on short distances. They're built for scenery shots. So, in a way, they're like a far-sighted grandma.

I just built a single forklift; coordinating that many of them would've been a total nightmare. I'm copypasting an explanation that I just wrote for another forum:

So one of the big tricks is that I didn't use the forklift to put the logo together. I used it to take it apart, and then ran the video backwards. I had a 20-minute recording of 14 separate times where the forklift took away a single pallet. Now, using a program like Adobe After effects, you can "cut out" parts of a video, and paste them somewhere else. This is a very timeconsuming process, since you need to tell the computer for every 10 video frames or so where the forklift is. It can interpolate from there. Then you need to put together all these cutout pieces of video, being careful that none of them overlap at any point. Someone put a tutorial together for a similar effect here: https://www.youtube....h?v=SVVMczuFBMk

Your freighter is pretty cool, I like the big array of engines but I feel the grey part under the containers could use some texturing. Right now it's just a big slab with containers attached. Also i'd try experimenting with greebles on the nose of varying length and shape. Long thin antenae, bulging radomes and such, to add a bit more variety to it right now it's all the same length.

I really like the hub and the engines though. Gives it a very utilitarian look, if an engine breaks then they must be very easy to replace.

Hi, /lg/. I was sifting through some of my old Minifigures, and what did I happen to find?

An old Jack Stone figure!

I'm not particularly a fan of Jack Stone, but I don't plan to sell it for the sake of being a collector. But out of curiousity, how much is this one worth in it's condition?

>>5582133

I like them both for different reasons. The Ideas ones are far more accurate to Doctor Who, but are harder to replicate with the colors I have of the same pieces used in the build.

I like the Dimensions version more, though. I always liked more boxy bodies, mhence why I love the Hummer H1 so much, not to mention a lot of the 90° angle bricks are completely hidden, so the outside panels cover them up. They can also be rebuilt using the same pieces from that one build alone.

Mike perma-banned me from the entire forum, I literally can't even see it directly via my IP Address.

Well Greebling has never been my strong point; There are some long antennae in the back, as well as various smaller containers.
Problem is I currently don't have access to anymore pictures due to being stuck on my OLD harddrive...

>I really like the hub and the engines though. Gives it a very utilitarian look, if an engine breaks then they must be very easy to replace.
Well it's not so much "My" freighter as a cut and re-arrange job of Dilanski Tycoon Hauler.
The front dome was the bridge, which I mirrored to give it a symmetrical feel, I also doubled up the engine pod and reworked the originally static cargo claws to be articulated
The central engine hub is mine, and I think the light grey cargo trailer is also...
I THINK it's suppose to expandable with additional trailers, but without the LXF file I can't really say for sure, but I'm thinking that's why the "Tractor" has such a beefy array of engines in the first place.

Except it wasn't about me working on Greebling, it was that it not being my strong point automatically assumes I'm never going to work on it ever.

See, this here:
>>5583085
>Look at all that empty space between the containers.
>0/10 wouldn't freighter dragon dildos with
Is a much more legitimate criticism.

There are two reason the trailer section isn't completely crusted in cargo.
The first is that the original freighter, built by microspace master Dilanski, had an odd rotation feature.
I expanded on this by making the static cargo clamps articulated, opening up so they could grab the crates as they drifted in space...
Thing is, this requires them to have a lot of smooth plate to rotate on, so I was hesitant on putting jumper plates for smaller cargo in the gaps.

The second is, well, that I didn't put containers in every single load point.
The issue there was how much of a headache it was to have a proper assorted mix of containers so that the display looked dynamic.
I went with a half loaded set up so as to both save on the amount of crates loaded and do a bit of a loading scene to show all of the features.

Here is Dilanski original model for comparison, and so you can see what I stole.

Yeah I got the Heartland Supermarket. Just finished the KEM. I like it but the roof seems off like way too sunken in.

My last sets have been the Ghostbusters HQ, some star wars, Dimensions (which mostly are colorless builds), and the Tardis. So I've been working with grey, wine red, and dark blue.

I've gotten a few other friends sets because the builds are pretty good and the details are nice. It beats having "Small City Set #24653 'Dude with Vehicle and maybe a crook' ".

The KEM is going to be great for my Ghostbusters project.

Which one of the two is better, Livi's House or Heartlake Supermarket?

Only asking because I need million of those sushi-prints and everything else is just extra.

Lmao I got that supermarket because of sushi.

Goddamn I wish they'd make some City sets like this with less pastely colours and regular minifigs.

I didn't know you could be banned from even seeing anything on the forum. Well I've got a brick shelf if you would like pictures.
Banning you from even viewing the forum seems needlessly harsh, but I'm not very well versed in the great whiteeagle conflict that seems to have happened, so eh.

As for greebling, practice makes perfect. Experiment with shapes! LDD is great in that you can bring up tons of bricks just to try out.

Fixing a flaw is not always easy, or instantaneous. It's up to you to decide if its worth the effort. But from experience I'd say that self improvement is one of the most gratifying things that you can do. I for example had terrible English skills, they're still not as good as they could be but through effort and practice I've managed to make my posts at least semi-coherent.
And that makes me feel happy, knowing that I have improved. Same thing applies to everybody I think, even for something as small as greebling a virtual Lego spaceship. And after you try it out you can look at the ship and think: I made this and it looks good.

But as I said, it's up to you to decide if its worth it.

Jeez this turned into a wall of text fast..

Articulating shoulder guns are my weakness. When I get superpowers my bald nemesis will try and kill me by slipping ground up shoulder guns into my food. knowing it is the only substance that can harm me.

This is what I want. I want more city sets that have a little shop feel. It's been like cops and robbers for like 2 years. I started collecting Lego again in early 2015, so all that I've seen is just cars. Everything has to have a damn car in it.

I really don't like the way that Lego sets out these themes for city. Like the whole first half of the year was police and then the second half was swamp police. I'd much rather like it if there was variety all year round. That way you can get your damn racing cars and a little shop or something.

>>5583760
I should call Lego. I think they didn't place those printed pieces inside.

I put some warmer lights inside and turned off the room light. If only these other lights didn't suck. (Basically little globs of light on a single string wire like Christmas lights and uses 6 batteries).

How do you guys light your interiors?

So I want to get into brick wars. (My old 40k itch is coming back...) I've read the wiki and roots a couple of times and an now looking for tips to build an army, or generally.

I haven't collected minifigs , ship Fag here, and was looking for tips. I was thinking that maybe the vehicle rules could be modded for battlefleet gothicia type play?

. Does anyone play regularly?

The way you responded just sounded like you were making excuses instead of taking anon's suggestions into consideration.

The original reply didn't tell you to just practice more to get better, they said:

I'd like to share the 1,000th post of the toy related long running webcomic a friend and I run. We usually have a fun tone, but things take a serious tone in this very very special comic. Let us pray the well being of our beloved characters the Wolfpack.

I'm not Ausfag, but I only took one Shark guy.
He's nice and funny, but I don't understand why he's so populair people want armies of them.
For this series I thought the grim knight or the white classic space guy would be some of the most populair armybuilders.
Atleast there are 5 of them in a box.

Posting my oldest and only surviving MOC, had it sitting on my bookshelf for about 12 years. The wings can fold back a fair bit and the entire thing, minus the base/arm assembly, is made with Star Wars mini sets, mostly the Star Destroyer.

>small set with Superman, Batman and a small platform
>medium-large set with all the main characters and the Batwing

Can you help me choose? Also, I haven't seen the movie yet, but I intend to.

>>medium-large set with all the main characters and the Batwing

Wait until you see it then, you know, just in case. Also maybe get the small set first and if you like it get the big one later? It's only like 12 dollars, and the bigger sets tend to be in stock a lot longer.
>>
>>5584180
After seeing over a hundred Battle of Smallville sets clearanced at more than 50% off and still not selling, I recommend *not* buying the $60 set at MSRP.
>>
>>5584185
That's the thing, I don't want to get both of them. I have an autistic aversion to having more than one of each minifigure.

>He's nice and funny, but I don't understand why he's so populair people want armies of them.

He's popular because people are stockpiling them for scalping later.

All the "mascot" figures end up being worth $20~$30 down the road after their series is retired, so...

Gerard is right. I had given up on buying a chicken suit man because of the price. Lucky for us the LEGO is a cool guy and gave them away for Easter.

Built a little kitchen from the 70's bricks.
That oven piece kicks ass. Even though i had to sink it into the ground for it to be in scale with minifigs, it still opens and stuff. I wanted it to remind people of dinner with the grandfolks.

Is it special to you? I've never had a moc last more than a month or two. I get an idea and canalize older mocs.
