Yeah, they're really expensive and he basically just runs a blog that takes news articles and galleries from popular nip sites. I don't mind checking there or whatever but I would not pay him the premium the kits cost there to support such a site either.
>>5580139
>supporting the news site
I couldn't really give a crap about that. I missed out on GundamPlanet's preorder for the 1/144 Gaelio Graze and really want an official one, with box, especially since GG Infinite is pricing theirs at about $23.
>inb4 go paint your own with McGillis' and HG Weapon Set 1
>>5580145
>not getting the 1/100
>>5580146
Only if they announce a 1/100 Kimaris Trooper.
>>5580145
the real issue is that they're generally expensive, I know many people who buy p-bandai prefer genteikits but they are sold out (for that reason).
I'm posting this guy here too just in case anyone has any ideas for armor colors (the white). I'm thinking a grey but I also might do like a deep FDE or something. Stark Jegan is pretty spacey though. Can't decide.
>>5580151
Honestly, I'd pay just a bit more for missing out on the earliest preorders (can't beat $23), and shipping costs come up to about $8, so about $31 in total.
Unless, of course, GG Infinite messes up orders constantly.
>>5580154
Use a creamy off-white.
>>5580154

MPZ-01 Shield Liger is here. He has a motor body!
Can anyone post some pictured of their crossbones?
hes a sexy looking fucker
>>5580139
well maybe they are exensive for P-bandai...the IBO 1/100 are just in the right price (comparing to amazon that its a little more expensive)
>>5580459
amazon the company does not sell p-bandai, those are just third party resellers who can price things at whatever they want to, often far higher than real stores
>>5580466
I see that you mean the regular kits now
>>5580459

Guys want some advice, so I am trying to make a dino-gundam using Dino-saw as head and Guison as body. So the next part is to find a combine the two,
I have 2 idea in my head show in pic, which should i go for?
>>5580678
You're going for like a t-rex right? I'd go with whichever option shows the least bit of neck under the head.
What does it look like with the head on?
>>5580710
currently the head is in the other house since I when back the family house for easter
>>5580678
The second one, so if you give it little stump arms it will be even more comical.

2nd one you mean the right side one?
and yes little stump arms will be part of it
>>5580750

It's fun to get better at things
I'm thinking of making a custom Gundam Astaroth when it comes out.
I'll be giving it an all white color scheme and attach the Portent Flyer to it.
The problem is that since the Portent Flyer was so unpopular, it's really hard to find decent pictures of it on other kits to gauge how well it will work.
Here is a mock up of what I have in mind
>>5580817
That looks really stupid. The color scheme is fine, it's just the way IBO kits aesthetically look they're very mechanical and detailed as such. Slapping wings on it doesn't work or make sense at all, that shit is way too stylized for that, hence why it's wing/seed shit
>>5580817
Please change at least the color of the chest and the arm or something you fucking boring cunt
>>5580817
ok here I thinned it up a bit and changed the wings to fit better
>>5580817
http://hobbynotoriko.yumenogotoshi.com/hgbc-portent-f.html
>>5580821
You make some good points.
The idea behind the wings was that since the Gundams are named after demons, repainting one into white and giving it angel wings was kind of like it rising from hell into heaven.
In place of wings, how about the Grave Arms? It has a crusifixy look to it.
>>5580848

>It's well done though
that almost makes it worse

this guy used time and skill to make THAT
>>5580866
of course it's a fucking astray lmfao
Can I poll for advice on a nice set of files? I was being lazy/cheap and using emery boards but they're not cutting it as I'm starting to need more precise tools.
>>5580900
How much are you willing to spend?
Tamiya sells absolutely fucking incredible files but they're expensive, $20 or so each
They also sell good ones individually for around $8 or so
Or you can buy an okay set for less than $10 from a hardware store or online, I'd recommend looking for diamond files. Mind you they're rough and you will need to sand a lot to smooth it out unlike the tamiya ones which are designed for plastic but it's by far the cheapest option
>>5580900
Look for needle diamond files like these in the hardware shop. Just go for the cheap ones.
They are more like rough sandpaper that lasts forever. Great for shaping. Also
>It cuts in any direction (normal files are one-directional)
>Due to the chrome plating, it is water-resistant. You can wet-sand with them.
>>5580817
I like the colors (no that you cant fail wth that overused white armor and grey inerframe) But il go for a more mechanic wings...like the WIng gundam...i know people hate it but its not like we have many to choose with feathers. The Destiny gundam backpac may look good to
>>5580900
I have jewelers files and like their size
for serious removal I have an aluminum plane with a handle and sandpaper so I can move the part against it
starting
what should i expect?
>>5581090
Main body needs some paint work, but the weapons are great aside from some weight issues when using the GN Buster Sword as a sword.
Limbs are always such a trudge for me, because you have to do the same steps over again. It always cuts into my momentum. I have one leg left to make before I move onto the torso and it's been sitting half finished on my desk for a week.
Ugh.
>>5581187
That's why I always build duplicate parts simultaneously. It saves me the suffering of having to do the whole thing over again instead of just doing double the steps at once
>>5581187
yeah mechs are like half limbs so that is a problem
>>5581191
I do that too, but I went a few steps ahead of the other leg. One is done and the other is half done and I've just been staring at it with a complete lack of enthusiasm.
Phase 2 of the PG unicorn lighting looks to be a LOT simpler than the RGB stuff.
The hole to attach the thrusters to the kit is exactly the same size as the collar on a 3mm led
so I just need to embed a 2 hole IC socket in the kit and the thruster will be held in place by the led legs, which will also provide power to the leds.
Only 8 of them to wire in too, so with 0.2mm magnet wire its not even a problem.
>>5581215

>>5581452
how are you going to shade now that you've painted the entire thing black
>>5581452
Honestly, it looks nice in black, if you just leave it that way. I dunno, I'm biased, I like black color schemes with some highlights.
>>5581473
He could still paint less around the edges. I forgot what it was called.
>>5581477
So you're going to preshade with bright ass white and then paint with darker white?
Would that even work?
>>5581477
yeah it's not called "reverse preshading" it's highlighting
why don't you guys read shit about other models where all of this exists to learn from instead of just trying to make everything up
>>5581494
>white on black primer
I am excited about this roasted look
Do I add more decals, or leave it minimal anon?
Also yes, borrowed the idea from Vegeta8259.
>>5581498
>>5581420
>inb4 shows up in season 2 without the sword and both normal arms as a kit
>The few anons who bought two for same effect are but the newest builders to feel bandais evil schemes
>>5581501
>>5581494
>nah man the shading's done
you keep talking about shading
but I don't think you actually know what that means
highlighting is actually a lot more difficult than preshading because you have to be more accurate with your spray. It's easy to follow lines on edges etc. below the paint layer where you can fix fuckups with coverage. With highlighting you have to do equal coverage on every surface in little patches.
>>5581510
honestly I probably don't have the proper terminology, but I'm still willing to give the highlighting thing a shot.
if not the coloring scheme i've got planned out has some decent color separation.
>>5581501
Your preshading triggers me.
Not the worst, but could be toned down a whole lot more.
The best example was that one unicorn that anon did with shading so subtle you took a while to identify it.
>>5581510
I don't think he's actually highlighting though.
he's just spraying paint to the edge of the black and using the black as the shading
I don't even know what you would call it, I've never heard of somebody using primer for that
But it's not preshading or highlighting
>>5581427
What's wrong with the head?
>>5581522
well fuck me, what do you call it then.
How good are the AC kits? I've heard they're fragile

>>5581534
It was a couple months back and I'm not gonna go look for it
Have this example instead. IMO preshading works best with weathering, since it ties the "realistic" look together. Preshading gives the illusion of shadows, so dont lay it on too thick
>>5581534
Not that anon but this is another good example of it, subtle to the point where it's effective but you have to look for it in areas outside of the brighter ones like the orange
I don't think your shading was that bad though, and my vote is for minimalist decals.

>>5581929
It's dumb fun and great if you've watched previous series. Watching it rekindled my desire to build after a long while.
Skip Try though.
>>5581929
Build Fighters is what got me into both Gundam, and gunpla. The characters are a ton of fun and use unique suits/gunpla, battles are great, and it has a ton of references to older series for people who are looking for them, but you don't need to know them to find it enjoyable. It's well worth a watch.
>>5581945
Yes, Try is a bad sequel though. Also what about IBO did you not like? I thought it was fantastic.

>>5581945
IBO was a massive dissapointment. Try is a lesser dissapointment. Build Fighters itself is a far better series than it deserves to be, and is probably one of my favorite Gundam series period.
>>5581951
>Also what about IBO did you not like?
Really bad writing, animation, and completely squandered potential and concepts. IBO is incredibly limp and lifeless at best.
GBF has kits that are well-crafted throwbacks to previous series, interesting characters, captivating fights, and a decent story that had a good balance of both humor and action.
also the fan favorite bearguy mk 2
GBF Try is a clusterfuck that seems like a massive advertisement especially in regards to the new "teams of 3" plot gimmick which doesn't seem to be beneficial to the plot and instead is set up to make you "buy our toys, BUY HARDER" or you would be left with an incomplete set. But previous salt aside, tryon 3, lightning zeta, Ezsr, (and a few other kits who's names i can't remember) where pretty good.

>>5582038
Eh, I like the R-Gyagya.
I forgot Megashiki exists though, but its a good kit I hear, but it's really just a precursor to Hyakushiki Revive ver.
>>5582495
> this line's gimmick is the use of ABS for the entire figure
Hmm, where'd you hear this?
Also, if true, that's kind of a bummer. I thought the soft pvc skirts and ankle armor were one of Assault Kingdom's greatest strengths, they allowed for hip freedom while not requiring any fancy engineering to get out of the way.
>>5582518
>Hmm, where'd you hear this?
There's promo images, and there's one with a silhouette tease of the Psyco Gundam Mk-II. Either I misinterpreted the "100% made from ABS plastic" or it's just Bandai being smartasses as usual.
I'm sure there'll be some use of soft plastic like for the Zaku's leg tubes, but front skirts are a separate piece, like the Assault Kingdom G-Self.
>>5582504
>but it's really just a precursor to Hyakushiki Revive ver.
Not really since it doesn't use any revive style engineering and uses the delta gundam kit as a base (Comes with a ton of extra parts because of this). If they made a hs revive it would likely be a new mold.

This isn't gunpla but these look great
>>5582540 (You)
Also, note that some of these use foil stickers, mostly for insignias and markings, but the RX-78-2 has one for the beam rifle variant >>5582178.
>AK line pretty much dead outside of p bandai
>New line starting
>Still no leo
I just want a cheap tiny leo squad to have desktop adventures with. I almost want it more than a modern plamo Leo at this point. I have no Faith in the RE line delivering either.
>>5582539
>that chobham armor
it just makes me think of this scene and I can't stop laughing
>>5582550
The foil stickers look pretty shit even in the promo shots, so I'm guessing they're gonna be unspeakably ugly in real life. Too bad. I liked that AK didnt resort to stickers, even though paint apps were minimal.
>>5582552
Hold out hope dude...at least the RDs and the inclusion of it in the RE/100 potentials mean somebody at Bandai is listening. A little desktop Leo squad sounds nice though.
>>5581452
fuck, that thing looks so much better in black. i would just give it a few color accents (lavender or neon green maybe?) and call it a day, honestly.
>>5581452
That looks fucking cool, you should try leaving it black and maybe giving it some red accents.
>>5582532
its like someone used the photshop filter "cutout' on wing gundam and turned that into a new kit design
kinda neat
>>5582733
Doesn't Hathway's Flash predate Wing?
I've got a retarded new project
>fiancee wanted this blizzard store SC2 pylon USB charger that lights up for her birthday.
>It's 40 fucking dollars.
>Why do you want it? You don't play starcraft
She says it looks like those crystals from BC and it's cute
>Whatever it's cool looking and she'll like it.
Then THIS piece of shit shows up. The worst ching chong painting I have ever seen in my life. This thing is not small either, you can see on the far right side that is a USB A plug, this thing is like as tall as an MG. I figured out how to take it apart it and am going to make it nice. She really likes blood elves from wow so I think I'm gonna do a green crystal with red where the dark blue is and candy green for the smaller gems. I can't believe how bad this is though.
>>5582835
SICK REPAIR JOB, CHINAMEN
>>5582835
is that official or a bootleg?
>>5582839
>>5582841
literally 40+ tax from the blizzard store
I will fix it and then put it on some social media sites with progress pics to shame them on their horrible product
>>5582843
>official
fuckin' yikes
>>5582843
Jesus christ. That look bootleg-tier. I mean its only 40 bux for something that size, but that's still a good chunk of change and shoddy workmanship.
>>5582847
It's not even a USB hub though, it's like a power cord to 2 powered USB plugs with 2 led's.
This is like a giant fast food toy
>>5582737
Yes but that anon doesn't know about anything pre-G
>>5582857
It's worth more to me to shame them now. I can post an album on rebbit or wherever and people will see what a shitty product it is and either harass them or not buy it.
Any good plamo april fools jokes this year? Fake announcements, joke builds, stuff like that?
>>5582716
I bet you don't have more than 5 painted kits because everyone who is 12 or new thinks red and black is the greatest color scheme in the world
>>5582890
Can't deny that I'm new.
>>5582894
well welcome, I didn't even mean it in a bad way so much as I wanted to see if my guess was right
>>5582890
>Not letting your inner edgelord 12-year old out every once in a while while making a custom.
Nothing wrong with doing something like that every once in a while. Plus the colors really do work well together and are fairly easy to balance.
>>5582902
No offense taken. I guess it is a pretty basic color scheme and I'd get bored of it after a few models but I still think it'd suit the Barbatos in particular pretty well. Black with an accent brings out the sleekness better than its normal colors.
>>5582912
what really sucks is when you start realizing you are making more suits in one shade than any other and you then feel you CAN'T use colors you like
So uh, I'm about to build the Kimaris Trooper. What would look better on the inner frame for panel lining, a gray panel line marker or a black panel line marker?
I'm still pretty new to panel lining and I dont know which colors look best with what, but since the Kimaris is such a sexy Gundam, I want to make it look as sexy as I can, at least as much as I can at my current skill level.
>>5582931
Consider the following:
1. Looking better is subjective. People prefer different things. Go with what YOU want.
2. Grey is lighter than black.
3. If you started with black, but didn't like it, you would be boned.
4. If you start with grey, but don't like it, you can always go over it again with black.
Hope that helps.
