I think the real reason Groove didn't get an initial US release was because the mold wasn't even fully finished by the time all the Protectobots came out in the US. It was too late to use the Deluxe Groove for the US Protectobots by the time it actually came out.

Jhiaxus only (apart from his old rid figure) has a generations armada toy and comic apperances, the only comic transformers we've gotten have been redeco's of existing transformers (side swipe and grimlock), its not looking promising for him as it would basically be a totally original toy design.

Its a shuttle, with an accurate head, with all the design elements in place, with the downside being its all crammed into cw styling.
Its still a cw/uw toy, not an mp, for what it is, it ticks the boxes, just came out jangly as a result.
Its a matter of opinion, I see it for what it is and the fact its a new mold hits my desire levels, I only got jetoff to help build my galvatronus and he was on sale.
As it stands we get a lazy redeco with a packed in excuse in the form of a text bio, or a bulbous homage to him, we can't win with these "toys".

To best answer the how part, perhaps they asked if they can get an allocation, being online stores rather than brick and mortar (that and PC is getting alot of steam since they can get those online exclusives) maybe they just got permission.

I personally liked the generations take but even I saw its issues, chuckled at galvatronus/grand galvatron from cw (and bought both), and to me personally aside from the hollow arms (coulda saved plastic elsewhere) the only problem to me is the head, that mask doesn't get any where flush enough.

As a seeker fag my opinions may be biased, I can't go by price since my currency differs to everyone else's here, what I can tell you is what I know of the molds.
mp03 (they grey guy) has a better jet mode seeing how they tried hard, almost too hard to hide the jet kibble, but made for more robot kibble in the process, and it can't stand on its own feet too well due to their design, hence the flight stand with them is required, the hasbro mp3 and to that extent the "usa edition" (same thing but slightly cleaner) offers a good g1 homage and a "used" jet fighter deco.
mp11 (the one on the right) is the most updated, it looks and feels like a retool of mp03 as it shares similar parts, but with a better head design (tossing out the changeable face feature as a compromise, meaning no smirking starscream), LESS kibble (but exposing robot parts in jet mode), and for the takara release they even gave you the crown cape and shoulders for his coronation appearance, tossing out the flight stand as a compromise.
mp11 is the better robot between the 2, redesigned feet help it stand better, the cape as mentioned (only on takara mp11/takara sunstorm releases) and virtually no parts forming (the nullrays have a swing arm meaning no parts removal required unless you're lazy), I'm a fanatic of the mold and because I'm a cheap ass I own all current hasbro deco's which do the job for the most part (though thundercracker pops out a bit).
The decos are normal hasbro vs takara fair (toy accurate to g1 accurate respectively) with a few creative aspects between them (insignia's flip flopping between them no matter which company its from), and between the 2 starscream variations it depends WHICH says starscream to you.
Hasbro's one has a flight stand, flat colored head, more yellow canopy and blue nose cone, takara's features a glossy head OR flat (asia release), grey cone (painted, blue under it oddly), crown and cape.

It's okay. I bought the recent MP-11T version of the mold, and it's my first experience with it. It's dated as fuck, and the torso can be a hassle when you're trying to pose it, but overall it looks pretty great in both modes.
I would probably never buy the Starscream version of the mold because the gray plastic looks like the cheapest shit ever, especially on the Hasbro releases.
