I just got the Papo Baryonyx, the pictures online of it look a little goofy, but I really like it. What does /toy/ think about it? Also toy dinosaur general thread.

Cool beans, anon! His arms look articulated (shoulder swivel), is that correct? What're his dimensions?

Seriously looking forward to pic related when it comes out.
>>
>>5565741
The arms don't move, disappointingl. He's a little over 12 in long. Also every photo I've seen of the baryonyx looks like hot garbage, but I was pleasantly surprised by how good this model is. All it really needs is a better paint job and it could be the best baryonyx figure available.
>>
Not digging that glossy look. Do all the new papos have that?

I don't know, this is the first Papo I have pulled the trigger on. (OP BTW) Here it is with the jp Allosaurus for a size comparison
>>
>>5565782
The glossy look makes them look alive, to me. Papo really is the best.
>>
>>5565724
That looks gorgeous. Shame it's basically statueshit, but gorgeous nonetheless.

I wonder how that kickstarter for the super-articulated realistic Velociraptors is going?
>>
>>5566377
It starts end of next month according to the Facebook page
>>
>>5565782
Not all of them.
>>
>>5565782
I wonder the same too. I used to own several of them and none had shiny plastic.
Honestly I'm not digging this one, the sculpt is amazing but the paintjob and plastic suck.
>>5566377
Late april, around $30 for each raptor.

>kickstarter for the super-articulated realistic Velociraptors is going
what's the name of the kickstarter?
>>
>>5567567
It's by Creative Beast studio called Beast of Mesozoic. The creator split the baby on the scale, t is officially a 1/6th scale, but the 1/6th raptors are ideal for Jurassic Park raptor replacement for 1/12th scale because the Jurassic Park raptors are twice of their actual size in nature.

But yeah can't wait for this shit
>>
>>5567600
>the 1/6th raptors are ideal for Jurassic Park raptor replacement for 1/12th scale because the Jurassic Park raptors are twice of their actual size in nature.
so basically they're 1/12th scale deinonychus raptors
>>
>>5567469
Fucking why?
>>
>>5567613
They're 1/12th scale Utahraptor. Deinonychus was not that big IRL, just look up the wiki page
>>
>>5567628
Because it's realistic and looks cool.
>>
>>5567628
>>5567634
Here we go again, scale fags vs. feather fags round #104.

The bottom line is the artist is a realistic dinosaur / paleoart enthusiast, so it's up to him to make whatever he wants. If you want JP scaly raptors go buy the Hasbro/Kenner ones or go make your own Kickstarter
>>
>>5567613
Basically, they´re literal velociraptors for 1/6th scale figures, and utahraptors for 1/12th scale figures. The focus was on 1/6th scale, though.

Personally, I think it's just way better for 6-7 inch figures.
>>
>>5567600
>1/6th scale
So how huge would the T-Rex figure be?
>>
>>5567650
Pretty fucking huge, Tom.
>>
>>5567652
That should be an interesting kickstarter then, because I'm pretty sure they're required by dino law to make T-Rex figures if they do a dinosaur line.
>>
>>5567646
>Personally, I think it's just way better for 6-7 inch figures.

The raptors really look out of place for 1/6th inch figure, mostly also because of the joints. 1/6th figures are not usually know for their articulation, so all the joints look out of place when you put the raptor next to say Hot Toys figure.

It does look great as 1/12 Utahraptor though
>>
>>5567653
Nah. The stretch goals are more raptors. There's already hundreds of T-rex figures out there
>>
>>5567657
>1/6th figures are not usually known for their articulation
No, there are some lines with pretty good articulation, it's just that most 1/6ths are collectors figures now and most collectors figures hide the joints with fabric or something.
>>
>>5567661
>There's already hundreds of T-rex figures out there
The only one with decent articulation is the tiny as fuck Revoltech
>>
>>5567661

Now what about a non blank 1/6 figure.
>>
>>5567685
RAH Ryuko probably, but almost all of them could do it if you took off the pants. Like I said, the problem is the fabric.
>>
>>5567673
Fuck, 'Big Al' alone at 1/12 scale would be the same dimensions as Thrasher save the extra 4in of tail length added on. And a 1/12th JP Rex would be almost 4ft in length and over 1ft at the hip-height. I'll settle for a 1/12th Al alone, but what I wouldn't give for a 1/12 Rex....
